Basically genes are either recessive(weak) or dominant(strong) even if u have brown hair then u either how 2 dominant genes or 1 dominant and one recessive. Brown/Black hair is dominant, blonde is recessive. so if u have any trace of the dominant gene for brown hair u will have brown hair. however is 2 recessive genes (2 blonde genes) come together, then u will have blonde hair. if the parents both have brown hair but have a blonde kid then they have 1 dominant and 1 recessive gene which means

@Wolfwow5 calisto was reincarnated into eve, similar to a clone because xena had no sexual intercourse with anyone. calisto just planted her DNA in to her when she helped Eli resurect them. somewhere in xena's genetic line(grandparents, ancestors, ect) someone either on her mothers side or her fathers side must have had brown/black hair, and when she was born that trait was ressesive, but it could be passed on to future generations and become dominant (study Gregory Mendel's theory on genetics)

I've asked that same question before and nobody seems to have an answer. I came up with two theories.

Either the centaur who raised the kid dyed it so the kid wouldn't think Xena was his mom if they ever met.

Or if that's too much effort for the show, the just go with the Xena/Simpsons answer, "when you notice something like that, a wizard did it. WIZARD!" :)
