Had a '04 R1 done up performance wise, (not with all that 330 kit, chrome, extended arms, etc. stuff). Had rotors, brakes, braided lines, PCIII Dynojet, steering damper, velocity stacks, fully adjustable GillesTooling rearset, Pazzo levers, just to name a few and I have to admit, once I rode a GSXR1000 I sold my R1. GSXR1000 is a all around better bike.

I must agree 04-08 are the best lookin 1000cc bikes out there. But i was also told by someone that they are some weak bikes compared to the other liter bikes. Y is that?

Man, I'd have to agree with you guys. The 04-06 R1 is dope looking in comparison to other years. I'm hanging on to my 05 R1 Raven until it stops running and then I'll proudly put it in my living room as decoration. You guys ride safe.

Proud owner of a 2004 R1... my local yamaha dealer wanted to make a deal with me to give him my R1 Lava red and echange it with the 2009 rw white with red frame, after ive driven the new r1 i took it back and said no thank u, my 2004 is the most aggressive bike ive driven...YAMAHA 4EVER
