EA canceled Generals 2 too, I like Generals. They're more suck everyday. C&C3 is the best C&C series by EA since it taken over Westwood. I can imagine about RA4 it must be worse than C&C4 with something like all in one mobile command center and reinforcement system.

Personally I enjoyed the first Command & Conquer FPS called Renegade (2002). But when Tiberium was announced I always kept in mind that Renegade 2 (based in the Red Alert universe) was also in development and cancelled by EA.

Yeah...the thing about Command and conquer 3 was that it was made by people who had played the other games and respected the story...which is why it was done so well and with such respect for the characters, resulting in a good game with characters you could connect with and a story that rocked with a capitol 'R'.
Then you got Red alert 3...which had similar results...then EA obviously fired those people and gave the CnC4 job to people who havent plated CnC before = CnC 4 crap!
This game was actually finished. However, just a few more weeks to release, EA (of course) pulled the plug. It seems that EA does not wants to give us good games.
I hear that the only thing they had left to do was iron out a few bugs in the squad AI...something like that would just need maybe...a fortnight delay...a month in the worst case scenario. But NOOOOO...EA have to have ahissy fit and can the whole project and then release a pile of crap like CnC 4...which I concider an insult to command and conquer fans everywhere.

Where are the Wolverines, Stealth Tanks and Orca Bombers? What about Ion Storms, Visceroids and The Forgotten? All I see are shiny, Cryis-like suits and Halo-Inspired drama...
@0lionheart havn't you played C&C Tiberian Sun? It's the same C&C universe (yes NOD is still around) but it's post-apocalyptic in the distant future. The Tiberian storyline was long before Halo and it's more about the remaining humans fighting for tiberium fuel against other worlds.
@CrazyIvan1745 The Tiberian storyline has always been about GDI vs NOD, and Kane wanting to use Tiberium to futher mankind. Aliens were hinted at in Tiberian Sun but only came in fully in C&C3 - and even then they were defeated. I've seen gameplay of Tiberium, and nothing made me think "Thats C&C". It looked like Haze mixed with Crysis.
@0lionheart ahh good point there. Still I'll have to say the game does look good. kind of a FPS game with a little hint of strategy would be nice (not many great games like that out.) I suppose I see what you mean by it not feeling very C&C but the NOD actually is in it if you look up the mission 1 intro trailer just a little less than normal.

I was glad they canceled this game because EALA was doing such a terrible job with all their RTS titles and their respective support. Little did I know that they canceled Tiberium JUST to shovel out the crap that is CNC4.

@MrVolvo240 Uh no. Try millions more. 1) They'd have to pay for the licensing for use of the Crytek proprietary engine 2) If they do what you suggest they'd have to commission Crytek and then let them in on the sales cut 3) It would take years to develop the game from scratch.
Crytek (and others) and EA have a marketing partnership for publishing games but that doesn't cover the costs of developing a high quality game, which will cost millions. It's unreasonable.
EA said this game "Didn't meet their quality standards" well i think this game EXCEEDED their quality standards. Their quality standards (as of late 2008 because CnC3 and CnC3 KW were awesome) is cartoonish graphics, bad story, terrible acting and suckish gameplay.
If they canceled this over quality concerns but let cnc4 through, just imagine how shitty they must've expected it to be.

If Ea games was bought out by another company that actually new shit about what they were doing, we would see a huge drop in the number of crappy videogames being put out.
It doesnt mean they NEED to be bought out, simply that their company ceases to exist, and a grand lesson would be learned by the video game industry:

Considering this is supposed to be a Command & Conquer game, I don't see a lot of C&C. Whatever happened to the eternal conflict of the GDI vs NOD? Where are the Wolverines, Stealth Tanks and Orca Bombers? What about Ion Storms, Visceroids and The Forgotten? All I see are shiny, Cryis-like suits and Halo-Inspired drama...

@0lionheart havn't you played C&C Tiberian Sun? It's the same C&C universe (yes NOD is still around) but it's post-apocalyptic in the distant future. The Tiberian storyline was long before Halo and it's more about the remaining humans fighting for tiberium fuel against other worlds.

@CrazyIvan1745 The Tiberian storyline has always been about GDI vs NOD, and Kane wanting to use Tiberium to futher mankind. Aliens were hinted at in Tiberian Sun but only came in fully in C&C3 - and even then they were defeated. I've seen gameplay of Tiberium, and nothing made me think "Thats C&C". It looked like Haze mixed with Crysis.

@0lionheart ahh good point there. Still I'll have to say the game does look good. kind of a FPS game with a little hint of strategy would be nice (not many great games like that out.) I suppose I see what you mean by it not feeling very C&C but the NOD actually is in it if you look up the mission 1 intro trailer just a little less than normal.

@CrazyIvan1745 I'm being a little harsh on Tiberium, it had the potential to be a great game. I just imagined something different, and imagined it would be like Renegade and faithful to the originals. I can understand why EA dropped it though, it just didn't look up to scratch gameplay wise.

If tiberium had been made, a nice little refugee for the tiberium universe would be made, still retaining a little bit of strategy, but EA needs to meet a quota of bad games, good games, and would be good but cut games...

I was glad they canceled this game because EALA was doing such a terrible job with all their RTS titles and their respective support. If it they were going to just ruin the franchise, I'd rather they not continue it at all, so I was genuinely gleeful that Tiberium was cut before it became a disappointing disaster. Little did I know that they canceled Tiberium JUST to shovel out the crap that is CNC4.
Cancel a bad game? Good. Release a WORSE game instead? Unbelievable.

@MrVolvo240 EA would still have to pay Crytek to redevelop the game from Cry2, I think the only bits they could carry over are raw models and modular programming. Which is probably not a lot of stuff meaning they'd pay out their arses to get the game done

@MrVolvo240 Uh no. Try millions more. 1) They'd have to pay for the licensing for use of the Crytek proprietary engine 2) If they do what you suggest they'd have to commission Crytek and then let them in on the sales cut 3) It would take years to develop the game from scratch.
Crytek (and others) and EA have a marketing partnership for publishing games but that doesn't cover the costs of developing a high quality game, which will cost millions. It's unreasonable.

EA said this game "Didn't meet their quality standards" well i think this game EXCEEDED their quality standards. Their quality standards (as of late 2008 because CnC3 and CnC3 KW were awesome) is cartoonish graphics, bad story, terrible acting and suckish gameplay.
