My Grandfather and Father converted 13, 280's and 380's into field drainage tilers. We still have a 280 we use every now and again. My understanding is we turned the controls around and took off the blade and attached a Zor plow where the blade was. I appreciate this video!
If I lived close enough I would run it for free, cause I love it, I ran a articulating 380 with a cummins for Wiley N. Jackson pushing scrapers making U.S. 27 into a 4 lane below Lake placid Fl. I also ran a 280 with the GM or Detroit V8 for Whitaker Brothers at Lake placid Fl.I could really dress with the 280, but in the sand it would only push about as much as a D7 or a TD20. I would rather run one of them than a track type any day!!
I hope you're wearing earplugs lol, that thing seems LOUD.

@irunwithanawp Earplugs to run it? Wouldn't that be like putting on a blindfold to look at a rainbow?
No, seriously, I don't know why it seems so loud in the video. I guess the sound was bouncing off of the trees behind it.
Besides, I can't afford enough diesel to get tired of the music she makes.

I do not know the exact year. I believe that model was produced from 1962-1967.

Thanks, yes it is an old rear-steer Michigan 280, and it does run good. Nothing like the sound of an old two stroke detroit!

Love to see those old machines still being used. Is that a 280? Sounds like it runs good.
