I wouldn't call Hobbits republicans, or democrats. I don't believe they really cared for politics so i would say they are neither. they might be closest to hippies though.
McCain seems to think Tea Party Republicans are not counted as Republicans. When you sleep with dogs, you get fleas. The tea party is the heart and soul of the GOP but the old guys like McCain don't want to be associated with the stupid shit some of them say. He said it and then tried to say he wasn't attacking the Tea Party on Fox news because he himself is afraid of losing their vote. He depends on the hobbits to keep being reelected.
IM For The Board of Enfranchisement of The U.S.A. which will have a program
that will enfranchise more people U.S wide state to state ,with a 1.5 Trillion Dollar Federal funding being that we have Gold reserves. The Stock of Gold will be up and Gold will be $2500 a Troy ounce, This program will create 2 Million Jobs supporters are welcome toghter we stand
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry... but after McCain said "...and the Tea Party hobbits can return to middle earth, having defeated Morglor" I just collapsed to the floor in hysterical laughter, a real LMFAO. I know he was reading it from the paper, but it was still hysterical to me, lol.
@RuthlessMcToothless He was able to recant everything he said on Fox News later that night on Hannity. That is the part where it doesn't matter if he tells the truth as long as he can go on Fox News later and lie so he doesn't lose the Tea Party Votes even though he just called them out for being idiots and they are stupid enough to keep watching FOX and believing nonsense and voting for people who consider them idiots.
First off, if you use the term "tea-baggers," you are serving to further bring down an already childish and substance-free political system. Also, you look like a jackass... you come across to moderates as being the same as the people you attack, just from the other side.
That said, he wasn't actually calling anyone a "Hobbit," but drawing a clear analogy to point out the silliness of a strategy. Taking it as him saying anyone is a "Hobbit" is obtuse on a level that makes me sad for democracy.
I looked up the meaning of Hobbit and could not stop laughing. I had an idea of what it is but actually reading the meaning makes is really funny. He was right and I am suprised no one sees it. Now I see why mother wanted to vote for you.
Good for McCain he is the only real Man in the whole Republican Party the tea baggers are just a bunch of whining sheep!! I hope they all crap their depends
Hobbits were the only ones who would give up the ring (power). Isn't it too bad you can't bribe the Tea Party Caucus with “Pork barreled projects” or special committee assignments? It’s quite refreshing! Mr. McCain has been grasping at the ring of power for too long and has been proven to give up on his ideologies just so the Media likes him… My Precious! Just so you know Mr. McCain, we do have a plan… it’s the Connie Mack “Penny Plan”.
see abortionist crashing on prolifers like the gustapo.religion seperates people instead ofuniting them
when you say the one true god what make your god any truer than the god thor? or the gods of the pharaoh's
from that point bickering over which sky daddy is truer causes a rift in humanity and we've seen it for
centuries. You know the christians had a dark chapter in their history; that period was called the CRUSADE and who was the whipping boy? everyone who wasn't chiristia .
@Gundamsee Christ will always divide; it is His to divide; it doesn't have to be that way; we can choose unity....or not. If it weren't for Christian Crusaders fighting Islam to a standstill in Europe, we'd all be Muslim now.
It's difficult for anyone living today to imagine the world in the time of the Crusades, but I have a feeling we'll soon all be able to get a taste of it. As divisive as Christianity can be, we can thank Christianity for many more good things than bad.
@finishstrongdoc That has no substance if thats god you can keep your dis unity and your centuries of fighting over a sky daddy which is utterly moronic.Religon stops human progression; And if we would have been muslim whats wrong with that? . So if we were all muslim, buddhist, jewish? what difference does that make? that statement is divisive in itself As if being somehow chirstian make you better than those mentioned.I forget im talking to a mccain voter.
@Gundam One man brought death and sin into the world; only One Man overcame death and sin and took death out. No other previous god has overcome sin and death. Yep, the God/Man Jesus is the one and only God, and men can deal with that as they wish; the True God doesn't force people to convert and love him. Can't say that about the god that Muslims worship. Everyone worships something, even if its only himself. I worship the God of Life, who overcame death & sin. It has made all the difference.
@Gundam On the contrary; Christianity doesn't downplay human intelligence, it elevates it to its highest; since God became man in Christ, all humanity has been elevated. But just as there are limitations on human intelligence, there are limitations on the human soul. It is only by limiting our choices to what is good, true & beautiful that man achieves his highest potential. Love wins by giving; hate loses by taking; all men suffer, not all men become worthy of their suffering.
@Gundam Love is suffering for others. Love wills the highest and best good for the sake of the beloved.
God is Love. Godly Love limits choice. Godly choices increase happiness. Man wants to be happy; God wants man to be happy. Make God happy; love God and then do what you will.
no one fears religion. they just dont need ignorant people running peoples lives though a fairytale. That is why we have seperation of church and state and it has no place in american politics. Now we are reaching the core of right wing rebulicans. I used to give republican's credit on economics
now i just laugh as the hijacked party of lincoln continues to dig themselves in a rut.
Hobbits forever! The tea party may not be Hobbits (because we would still be dominated by Nazgul Corporations after dismantling Government), but i think he got the Mordor metaphor right.
I wear the Badge Proudly! Call me a Hobbit, and we do have a plans we support, they’re called “Cut, Cap, & Balance” and Connie Mack’s “Penny Plan”. We saw Friday 8-5-2011 what happens when you compromise with people who want more of what got America here in the 1st place.
Hobbits were good guys, right? Tolkien's halfling folk, though small of stature & might, were industrious, hardworking, common sensible, decent, resilient, & ultimately very courageous when taken to the limit.Okay,McAmnesty, insult me again (and then try to cravenly back away by saying you were only quoting an article...which you read in the well of the Senate,ya asswipe). Insult me by comparing me to a hobbit. But in doing so, you take assume the label of Orc,a vile, filthy creature of darkness.
What do we know John, you definitely know it all. You've been in Washington now for 28 - 30 years, you've resolved the social security problem like you said you would,, the border problem like you said you would, the spending problem, defense problem, protected the USA sovereignty, led the way to prosperity all these years like you said you would......we are merely your humble servant hobbits.
@Sessylius The deficit has been around a long time and is not threatening to destroy the country in the next five years. This job problem's _new_ and it's threatening to destroy the country in the next five years. Dealing with the deficit now, when it could make the job problem _worse_, is moronic.
Yes, there're always excuses to avoid dealing deficits. But if you're a thinking person, you realise sometimes those excuses are more valid than others, and right now they're really, really valid.
@Sessylius You mean rein, not reign. The metaphor is about horses, not kings.
I don't think you really understand what you're talking about. Your point that it's always hard to make politicians balance the books is fine, but that doesn't change the fact that massive tax increases or service cuts could literally cause another great depression at this point. Look at greece and the UK, or even the USA's own history. Austerity measures in times of economic crisis _always_ make things worse.
@Sessylius if you really want to know what's going on enter the following in the youtube search window: Chris Hedges "Death of the Liberal Class" at The Sanctuary for Independent Media 10-17-10
Calling fellow Republicans who are conservatives "Hobbits from middle Earth" is disgusting. And this is the guy the Republicans elected as their Presidential candidate?! Amazing!
Face it people. McCain is a just a part of the Neo-conservative club. A Progressive with an "R" before his title.
@Sessylius Well at least you recognize that few Dems in Congress are real Democrats any more. They've been bought out by their corporate masters.Still they at least have the sense to speak the right words even if their actions don't match. As for the rest liberalism comes from the higher region of the brain. Conservatism comes from the "lizard portion of the brain". (Look it up.) Conservatives are incapable of actual thought. They misinterpret things they can't understand. Thus your confusion.
@Sessylius If the drug addict were battling cancer and drug withdrawal symptoms would kill him, I would tell him to postpone losing the drugs until his health was able to withstand it. You have it the wrong way around. Bad times are _not_ when government should be doing things that will further _hurt_ the economy.
The american ship IS sinking right now, and it's not sinking because of the deficit. Reducing the deficit is an important long-term goal, but it has nothing to do with the crisis now.
Raising taxes and cutting spending are both bad for the economy. This whole process is moronic. Look at the job numbers!
The federal government should be ignoring the deficit right now and spending _massive_ amounts of stimulus money to try to get the job market working. Once you have an economy that's not on the verge of collapse, then you can have this talk. But deficit-reducing measures when the market is this fragile are just plain stupid.
Good job McCain! . The teaparty does not care about the deficit. They care only about reducing the size of government. They believe the government should be exactly the same way it was in 1789. Somebody needs to buy the teaparty a time machine. It's not 1789 anymore. The country has moved on
finally the real John McCain is back, the one everyone loved in 2000 when he challenged Bush, the one that had a history of collaboration and compromise. The one in 2008 had been sucked in by the same right wingers now that for political gain they are ready too put the US economy in danger. Tea baggers are idiots plain and simple, with leaders like Palin and Bachman who whould be surprised that right wingers whould have such disconnected views of reality
Dear John......(sigh)....must you be such an ass kissing schmuck for the globalists? I can`t tell the difference between you, Bush, Hillary, B.O., etc, on ANYTHING.
Every time he opens his mouth he proves the best thing he ever did for Conservatives was to lose to Obama in the election, the result of which rallied the so called "Hobbits" of whom he speaks. You graduated 5th from the bottom of your class, you're father picked you up by the back of your belt to get you where you are today and yet you're still an embarrassment to your family. You're the Ted Kennedy of the Kennedy family, you geriatric forgot to take his medication impostor of a man.
@GerrohTheCommie people who speak in metaphors are idiots. People who spend their time reading metaphors are bigger idiots. While you were in a "metaphoric coma," (so to speak) my satire blew over your head you non-contributing waste of sperm.
@TheChasty What reality is that? That the Federal Government is a gross perpetrator of outrageous overspending and waste and needs to get their finances together? No... I think they understand that perfectly well.
@TominatorJ A reality where market stability is a key indicator of whether or not investors want to take risks on industries and corporations in a particular country. I know that there is gross overspending and waste but we should not let the past ailments cloud our judgement of a present situation.
Refusing to commit to a long term deal of one year at least does not contribute to a comfortable and stable American economic environment. Thinking that a 3 or 4 month deal will work is childish
@TheChasty They tried to pass a long term bill that would have cut spending, capped future spending based on a percentage of GDP, and forced the Government to do what millions of successful households and businesses do - balance their budget.
Do you also not realize that our "present situation" is caused largely in part due to Democrats controlling all three branches of gov for 2 years, in which time they added 4 trillion to the deficit and did not pass ANY budget?
@TominatorJ Your tunnel vision of the "present situation" is laughable, but not surprising. It's what every other right wing parrot has been saying for years. The reality is that both sides carry some blame, but the Democrats being in control for 2 years doesn't even come close to the runaway government spending in the Bush years. And your logic also ignores the fact that the 4 trillion deficit in those 2 years was the ending result of Bush tax cuts, and republican voted bailouts.
@TheChasty You want to talk about market stability? OK. Let's take a page from Clinton's Economic Game Plan, since you guys seem to love him so much. Clinton bolstered the US economy by cutting a trillion dollars out of spending over 5 or 6 years (which sparked investors to take advantage of better interest rates), coupled with tax breaks for small businesses. Jobs and Economy recovery is not going to come from insane gov spending. Actually, the opposite is generally what promotes growth.
The people who are mature and experienced and have been in office forever are destroying this country. We need freshmen on both sides to stand up and stand out.
@LastStandforLiberty Yes, experience isn't necessarily a prerequisite to serve in the congress, but making it your sole mission just to cause havoc and prevent anything at all from being passed not only creates chaos, but also what in practicality is a hung parliament. And if you think that the House Democrats are gonna forget this circus next time they take over, you're probably wrong. Btw: Default is not an option. It just isn't, neither politically nor economically.
Cut current spending, Cap the limit of future spending, force future Congress to pass a balanced budget, since they obviously show no fucking interest to do their job unless it's a constitutional amendment. I don't understand why these assholes are arguing over this.
You can't spend more than you make. Period. You will absolutely ruin your finances. The current path of unlimited spending coupled with whimsical borrowing is going to destroy this country. Why can these fucks not see that?
I voted for your crusty ass in 2008 only because Obama scared the shit out of me. Lesser of 2 evils, if you will. Now I'm DONE with this BULLSHIT! You RINOs and Liberal "progressives" in congress are nothing but a bunch of crooked, lying, cheating, stealing slobs that are worse than professional welfare recipients. America is done with you and your Establishment brethren. GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR HOUSE! 2012 can't come soon enough. All these crusty turds need flushed.
@TheBushman7 Radical? How so? Because I believe the congressmen and women elected by Americans are supposed to be accountable for their actions while in office, and if they aren't they need replaced?
And you want reason and argument? OK... Tell me why we should continue to support elected officials that have added 4 trillion dollars to the national debt in 2.5 years. Tell me why we should stand idly by while said officials can do nothing more than toe their party line?
@TominatorJ Some of your points are extremely valid. Some I don't agree with. And that is my point: debate should be conducted in a controlled and mature fashion - where there is no room for lame "FUCK YOU":s - and the new Tea partists in congress have proven again and again that they are too immature, inexperienced and incompetent to hold public office. Even in the cases where they have valid concerns their approach to problem solving is immature, destructive and yes: very radical.
@TheBushman7 Well sorry. I guess the thought of my 3 kids being buried under an insurmountable debt, and social security and medicare being dried up by the time I'm ready to retire has me a little worked up.
And I'm more than a little concerned that most people aren't giving Obama and Congress a big "FUCK YOU" right now. We have every right to be outraged with how Government has been run the last couple of decades. The fact that so many aren't outraged over this is disheartening.
@TominatorJ The American debt is by no means insurmountable. It's roughly around 60% of GDP, which is quite low by an international standard. The deficit, however, is extremely big, so measures need to be taken to close that gap. One way could be to stop lying to ourselves by pretending that the taxes are high. They are the lowest in 60 years, and lower than the vast majority of the developed countries in the world. Low taxes are fine, but when the shit is hitting the fan it's time to get real
@TheBushman7 Tell me why when Obama took office, we were involved in 2 wars. Now we're up to at least 4. Why should we support that?
Tell me why we should support a government that knowingly put thousands of guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels that resulted in the death of a US agent and crimes in American cities.
Tell me why we should continue to support a bloated, out of control government that is leading this nation on a path to destruction. It's time to really administer "change".
@lazerous47 Bwahahahahahahah... to get out of debt i get more of it.......... Damn........ you dumb. You cut spending and raise revenue, so you have a surplus.... And you don't raise revenue by increasing rates, you make it harder not to pay taxes.
@TominatorJ But being a congressman IS being a welfare recipient. They don't have term limits so some of them have a job for life because the kind of people who vote for them are more afraid of change and progress than they are of sitting in their own past mistakes and ultimate mess of a result. Insanity is described as "Repeating the same action over and over, each time expecting a different result." Supply side spending doesn't work? OK, try it harder next time." Stupid worst Keynesian theory.
I cannot believe American leaders can be so fucking stupid with something so important and dangerous. This game of chicken they're playing is the economic equivilent of nuclear brinksmanship.
The market is based on confidence and if the US is in a perpetual state of gaining debt eventually some people will worry they won't even pay it back and that pebble could turn into a landslide of people dithing US assets, bonds and dollars.
Dems and the GOP need to come to an equitable agreement and soon
McCain sounds reasonable here but it's just so they line up for Boehner's plan. He would REALLY be reasonable if he just admits we need to raise taxes, like Reagan did when he needed it.
I could give a shit about politics because all it is, is lies and deceit by people who think they know best but gotta love a Lord of the Rings metaphor within the bullshit.
I would pick Angle or O'Donnell over McCain any day. Democracy is tyranny of the majority=fail
We are a Representative Republic.
I don't like libtard, I prefer statist or progressive.=-advocates of government theft of personal property under threat of imprisonment or theft of property for the purpose of arbitrary redistribution to corporations or individuals
Here is Senator McCain at his finest; the war hero, the American Icon; yet when he went on Sean Hannitty, Hannitty made minced meat of him. How sad. We have so few true heroes in our culture and Sen. McCain is one of them. And while he deserved better from the likes of Sean Hannitty, he reallyl needs to decide once and for all who the real John McCain is. His voice is needed now more than ever.
What does John Sidney McCain know about budgeting or the debt ceiling? John McCain is a mealy-mouthed, know-nothing idiot. All you need to do is take a look at his ignorant, inept, offspring to see what John McCain is worth. I hope the good people of AZ replace this character in the next election cycle. He makes me sick.
@miazagora All true and even so he was the ONLY GOP candidate who had a chance against Obama. And that was BEFORE you tea bagging freaks pissed off the whole country by crashing the economy again.
@MasterOfSparks I voted for the creep in the primary, you idiot. That's BEFORE I woke up. Republicans and Democrats have been the SAME at least since big-spending George W. Bush. Obama just accelerated the spending to historic levels. If we DON'T raise the debt ceiling, it will NOT be Armageddon. Remember the Chicken Little attitude of the Dems "The sky will fall if we don't pass TARP or Obamacare!" - it's their M.O. Wise up. YOU'RE the freak for believing their garbage.
@miazagora If conservatives knew anything about economics we wouldn't be in this position in the first place. The best thing your ignorant treasonous brain dead ilk can do now is sit down and shut your pie holes.
@MasterOfSparks Not a chance, you moron! Keynes has NEVER worked! NEVER! We want Hayek! We want the Austrians! Small, tiny government and fiscal responsibility! We are coming in 2012 and we outnumber you Keynesian numbskulls! RON PAUL, 2012!
@miazagora The generation that defeated Hitler Mussilini and Hiro Hito in 4 years, put several men on the moon, built the national highway system and the greatest economy the world has ever seen also voted for the most liberal President in US history, FDR, 4 times. History calls them "The Greatest Generation". The generation that voted for Ronald Reagan twice can't repair the roads or put their own kids thru elementary school. They will forever bear the name "The WORST Generation".
@hellomoto12354 The generation that defeated Hitler Mussilini and Hiro Hito in 4 years, put several men on the moon, built the national highway system and the greatest economy the world has ever seen also voted for the most liberal President in US history, FDR, 4 times. History calls them "The Greatest Generation". The generation that voted for Ronald Reagan twice can't repair the roads or put their own kids thru elementary school. They will forever bear the name "The WORST Generation".
@MasterOfSparks Ronald Reagans generation.... Defeated the soviet union, sparked the most economically successful time in our history, and bult the space shuttles voted for the most CONSERVATIVE president ever. Oh, and how did LBJ go? Carter Energy Policy work? How about the Democrats stance on Civil Rights before the Civil Rights bill was passed? 1940 the country was united, in 1980 the country was once again united, Reagan enjoyed an average 69% approval rating. our generation is the worse
@hellomoto12354 The Soviets were collapsing under their own weight. All Reagan did was run to the front of the parade. Reagan couldn't get elected by the GOP today because he RAISED TAXES 11 TIMES & ran up a (adj4inf) $5 TRILLION deficit . As to the Civil Rights Bill read up on "Nixon's Southern Strategy". The things conservatives believe have no basis in reality. You're completely insane! ALL of your idiot Pres candidates want to balance the budget by cutting taxes to 0%. How does that work???
@hellomoto12354 1940 to 1980 was Reagan's responsibility? He was an actor and a figure head. He used the Berlin Wall as a photo op. That speech about MR. Gorbachov, etc. was staged That decision had been made six months before he went to the U.S.S.R. in a NATO Conference.
Anyone who thinks Democrats are any better than Republicans, are simply drinking the same kool-aid. Politicians are by their very nature, PARASITES who live off the blood of the host (the people). McCain is simply showing the true nature of parasitic politicians by excoriating those who challenge the status quo. When we remove the financial incentive to become a "professional politician", we will as a people be represented by those who wish to serve US rather then make themselves our masters.
What's the point of a debt ceiling.....if they keep raising it??? McCain and his good ole' boys are as bad as the Dems when it comes to tax & spend. When is enough ever going to be enough for them? Hold tight to your principles Tea Partiers in Congress.....time will show you to be on the right side.
@Sil88CNY History will only remember the tea baggers for one thing: THE TEA PARTY DOWNGRADE. They are the most ignorant slime that ever oozed out from under a rock. And they need to crawl back under it. STUPID FOOLS EVERY ONE OF THEM.
I think it is pathetic that the tea party is being blamed for a potential collapse related to the debt crisis..
Our nation's debt has been growing since 1835 (The first and *ONLY* time in our history when this country was debt-free). The tea party is 3 years old.
So, do the math and see how it started. The tea party is sounding a warning. The debt is the problem, Not the warning.
@LastStandforLiberty It's not the only time this country was debt free. Clinton payed off the debt and handed Bush a surplus. Then Bush spent and spent us into what we have today. And don't tell me he's no longer in office and it's Obama's debt. We are still digging out of the mess that Bush left.
@Fringe111 Clinton did not pay off anything. The Republican Congress delivered a balanced budget to him which he had sufficient common sense to sign into law. Having a balanced budget does not pay off the debt, which was not paid off during either of his terms. The enabler for the balanced budget was the tax increases enacted by the congress and his predecessor (cost him the election).
I never blame Presidents except for their consistent failure to veto unconstitutional legislation
@Fringe111 The claim that Clinton left Bush a surplus is bogus. Clinton used gimmicks to hide the deficit in his budget. And the projections of future surpluses did not take into account the occurrence of things like 9/11 or Katrina or the War on Terror.
@bigravensfan21 Yeah that's what happens when you turn the country over the scum bag conservatives like Bush. His response to more than 50 warnings about bin Laden was to take the month of September 2001 off to go pull brush at his cattleless ranch in Crawford TX. Ten years ago the biggest problem this country had was what to do with all the surplus. The biggest problem now is that our nations conservatives stand revealed as treasonous vermin.
@MasterOfSparks As I said in my earlier post, the claim that Clinton left Bush a surplus is bogus. And how dare you call conservatives treasonous vermin. Is that really what you think of someone who disagrees with you politically? You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
@bigravensfan21 Any dialog with conservatives should begin with the understanding that these people are mentally ill. They murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq for reasons that changed every week. Yet they feel no remorse. They are incapable of it. Which makes the sociopaths. Every damned one of them. Then they turn around and whine like little bitches and want sympathy for how "picked on" they are. They think their opinions should be valued no matter how vile and stupid .
@bigravensfan21 I'll call them worse than that. They are vile stupid scum. The best thing they could do for this country is put guns in their mouths & paint their ceilings red. Its not a matter of them disagreeing with me. They are entitled to be just as stupid as they want. My problem is that they sucked GWB's dick for 8 years and whooped it up when he was committing mass murder in Iraq. & now instead of showing the shame they so rightly earned they want to do to the USA what they did in Iraq.
@Fringe111 A surplus doesn't mean "debt free." It just means that the government is taking in more than it is spending. That's a good way to get back to NO DEBT, it will take a while, and I'd prefer that over Bush or Obama's fiscal management.
But that's NOT what we're going to get from either party in Washington.
I was aboard USS ORISKANY when McCain was a naval aviator in the air wing. Scuttlebutt was that he was only there because his daddy was an Admiral, and he was a lousy pilot. We failed to execute a correct maneuver when he was targeted by a SAM and was shot down by AA, he panicked and failed to punch out of his aircraft correctly, that's why his arms are messed up. John McCain panics, he's a hot dog, and he is the son of privilege. O and it wasn't his choice to stay in Hanoi Hilton,it was the COs
@finishstrongdoc You forgot to mention that he made more that 30 antiAmerican propagand films for the Viet Cong while he was their guest. And yet somehow despite all that he's still the closest thing the GOP has to an intelligent and decent human being. The rest all being sociopaths and economic lunatics with the vile Ayn Rand and miserably failed Friedmanian economic horse droppings.
@MasterOfSparks I don't hold that against McCain; everyone eventually broke, and the trick where he signaled " torture" in Morse code by blinking was a slick move and helped all the POWs in the camp eventually. But his privilege, hot-dog attitude and tendency to panic put him in Hanoi Hilton; he wouldn't have been there otherwise; says a lot about him. The guy's a " Jonah" and needs to be put off ship in the next port.
@finishstrongdoc McCain also crashed three aircraft before he even got into combat flying. Once he did a hot-dog maneuver that cut off the power to a whole province in France, precipitating an international incident for US diplomats. He was never court-martialed for it. Wonder why? I could sense the resentment the aviators had for McCain. He begged to be on the air strike that took him down, the Air Boss was against it, but he's a "charmer". And he was the " fortunate son" of an Admiral.
@MasterOfSparks Sir, I have the obligation to inform you, that despite Mr McCain's faults, I still voted for him. I couldn't vote for Mr Obama because of his ties to Bill Ayers, his hateful attacks on the unborn, and his seeming unquenchable thirst for power.
I hold no malice toward either Mr McCain or Mr Obama; I simply had no choice but to vote for Mr McCain. There are only two political parties.
As a prisoner, McCain was heroic in his service to his country; he signaled " torture"....
@finishstrongdoc ...in code with his eyes as he was being forced to do those propaganda films. All prisoners, save very few, eventually broke under torture. McCain's torture was endured for his country. On those acts of bravery and perserverence alone, I am still willing to risk a decision made by Mr McCain over Mr Obama. I was only pointing out the faults of the man whom I still admire as a comrade in arms. May God forgive me my sins, you yours and may He have mercy on the whole world.
@finishstrongdoc So you allowed a bunch of right wing liars who made a big deal out of nothing to convince you to vote against your own economic interests. Nothing new there. If the GOP had to tell the truth theyd be out of business. They screw over 98% of the country to benefit the richest 2%. Regardless of McCain's status in Nam choosing to put an idiot like Palin one 72 year old heartbeat away from the Presidency was an act of treason. Try listening to [wegotedDOTcom] instead of gopDOTliars.
@MasterOfSparks Sir, when in history have we not seen men who weren't greedy for gold and power? The inequitable distribution of the world's riches are the responsibility of the Rich of the world. I am a Christian. The advice of Jesus to the Rich Young Ruler still applies, and the US is " the Rich Young Ruler" of history. For now. Capitalist's greed has always until recently been ameliorated by their generosity. Their global hegemony is unworthy of them. God will punish them for their greed.
@finishstrongdoc Unfortunately we're ALL going to end up paying for their greed. Because greedy capitalists use Christianity to convince narrow minded people to vote against their own economic interests. Like denying global climate change. Read Chris Hedges "American Fascists: The Christian Right And The War on America". Its time the REAL Christians took back their religion! Watch [youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=T6quwxV-5SE] Genesis says man should take care of the Earth not ravage it.
@MasterOfSparks Sir, we have common ground on many things here, but I admit I must remain in in the "narrow-minded" class of people who are guided by True Religion as revealed to the Saints and passed on through the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Benedict XVI shares your views on care for the planet. But it is important to remember the fundamental option for the poor, and not penalize them with needless regulations and taxes. A smaller gov't can do less damage to the poor than can a large one
@finishstrongdoc ....and the rule of subsidiarity is clearly an emanation from the Heart of Christ; the best gov't is the one that allows for more local control of budgets and assistance to the poor. Secular gov'ts cannot love the poor as can the Churches and those who affiliate themselves with the charities of the Church in humility and peace, allowing a Catholic conscience to run these charities. It is obvious to me that women have a genius for " The Little Way" of St Teresa of Lisieux....
@finishstrongdoc ...a Doctor of the Church. I will read more about Wasilla and other things you referenced, and I am not necessarily a Palin supporter but I believe she can judge character as well as I can at least, and I see many character flaws in Mr Obama that she and I both see as dangerous to our country. He could be more charitable in his attacks on those who supply jobs and he enables sin by his support of abortion. Many of his initiatives to "hrlp" the economy seem driven by a .....
@finishstrongdoc fanatical attatchment he has to socialist ideologies, which , in my view , can never do anything but lead to total economic ruin for all, rich and poor alike. Thanks for your references; keep me informed if you have any more to say about things that I might need to be made aware of. Facts are stubborn things.
@finishstrongdoc You'll really have to explain that one. How does taxing and regulating multinational (UNAmerican) corporations hurt the poor? How will cutting food stamps and health care and running prisons for profit (even if it means lengthening prison terms to increase profits) help the poor? Before you answer that I suggest you read Matthew 25:31-46. Today is "I Love" Lucy's birthday. I'd say, "You have some s'plainin' to do."
@MasterOfSparks I would be remiss if I failed to inform you. sir, that our national; motto, " E Pluribus Unim" precludes any political philosophy thatsuggests "class warfare" is extant in our nation. Crimes aren't committed by corporations, or parties, or any group; they are committed by individuals, and as individuals we all will be judged by God. Our national destiny is being forgotten; we are " the Rich Young Ruller", blesed by God to help the poor of the world. We will all be judged ....
@finishstrongdoc Corps are formed by people who want to hide behind the shield of a corporate structure to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. Such corporations were NEVER intended by our founding fathers and were in fact OUTLAWED by them. Corporations have ONLY short term profits to guide them. In fact CEOs are required by law NOT to operate towards the public good ONLY profit. Thus they make very poor stewards. I suggest that you study "corporate personhood" and "externalities".
@MasterOfSparks I recall Ken Lay, a suicide, was an executive of Enron. And Skilling went to jail. I suggest the original failure was not with the rise of corps, but the invention of the Protestant idea of loaning money at interest. Money can't grow itself; it should represent an increase of production. Thos Jefferson wanted the $ to be based on the increase of the land. We once had a gold standard. Ancient Israel asked for a King to replace God. Ideas have consequences. Bad ideas have bad ones.
@finishstrongdoc There is value in being allowed the use of money for a period of time. That value is what interest is supposed to pay for. It's rental. Enron is a single example. Why aren't any of the bankers that committed fraud and crashed the economy in 2008 in prison? I still remember the Watergate hearings every afternoon on TV. Why no investigations into the banks and the congressmen who rolled back the protections? Obama also failed to investigate the Bush admin re Iraq.
@MasterOfSparks You would need to see the books on Fanny and Freddy to get an accurate piture as to how our economy collapsed; those schemes exposed the weakness of the banking system based on interest on loans. The people who got the loans weren't able to pay the " rental" on them and the system collapsed, but the go't decided to "prop up" the collapsing system with a "bailout". The bond market is collapsing now because of those unsecured loans. Bundling caused the crash...
@finishstrongdoc Actually it was deregulation that caused the crash. Just like Reagan crashed the S&Ls when he deregulated them. Why do conservatives continue to blame the people who took out loans thinking "real estate always goes up. I don't need to pay off the loan. I'll just sell it at a higher price and make lots of money!" instead of blaming the bankers who issued such loans? I mean if you lent your own money to someone you knew couldn't pay you back wouldn't it be your own fault?
@MasterOfSparks Reagan was a softie who was hard on Communism and easy on capitalism, and was easily deceived by the banksters who knew that ruining the little S&L's would eventually lead to bankrupting our economy. Fannie & Freddie were the vehicles that were/are driving this bus over the cliff. Conservatives wake up slowly to evil;most of us are like Reagan. But at least we have sense enough to finally wake up to the evils of the commie dream which is really a nightmare.
@finishstrongdoc That is why religon is deeply flawed again what makes your god better than anyone elses? you haven't answered that. if we as a human race want to progress we
need to leave archaic ideals that don't have a shred of evidence.BTW we should thank the moors(arabs) for the number system we have today if you
@finishstrongdoc talin,Mao, Kim Jon il, and fidel to a lesser extent; Hijacked communism. What those dictators did was use communism as a base. I doubt you have read the communist manifesto because if you had, you'd know what true communism should be like. It was hijacked by assholes
and its reputation as an ideological theory was ruined. I bet if the same would have happened with Capatilism you would have a different taste
@Gundam Communism sucks; everyone has a vote; they get to vote for the same person; the Party Boss, who rules over everything you do. If you complain& say you'd like another boss, you'll be called " absurd", sent to a gulag or a mental institution, or simply shot. Socialism is the first step toward Communism, but it always ends up badly, with lots of ppl being killed to preserve the illusion of " progress". Sounds crazy to me, but in the USA,as Ted Nugent says" You have a right to remain stupid"
@Gundam BTW, it may surprise you to learn that now, in the former Soviet Union, the leaders are trying to get more people interested in going to Churches. Seems they have a problem with morality, and would like to have more citizens treat life with some dignity. Life was once quite absurd there; toward the end of the Soviet Union, I'm told, everyone laughed at everything, including death. Ironic, yes? A country of laughing, drunken idiots.
@Gundam You have been woefully misinformed about the situation in Cuba. Many dissidents who were true believer secularists were somehow sent to Cuban prisons for minor infractions of Party Rules. In prison, they met Catholic dissidents like Oscar Elias Biscet, & the secularists became converted to Christianity through the recognition of the good, true & beautiful witness of Dr Biscet, & many others like him who suffered for Christ in Cuban Prisons.Conversions happen every day, all over the world
@MasterOfSparks the Fanny and Freedy loans went in with other loan packages that were secured by actual productive good loans. It was "charity that isn't charity." The Bible says " never give surety to a stranger"., meaning you loan money to a neighbor whom you know who will repay ( the "increase" is negotiable upon the growth attained), not to some stranger whom you don't know his or her character traits. The Gov't shouldn't be in the charity business. Dicken's " A Christmas Carol" was ...
Respond to this video... a morality play reminding England that, banks and Gov'ts shouldn't be " borrowing and lending" or doing charity. Davy Crokett found out that there are reasons why common gov't funds to do business wasnt " theirs to give" to do charity; that should be left to local charitable groups. That's called "subsidiarity", where the best gov't is local, with a preferential option for the poor. I f sin is causing poverty, banks and corps can make profit off of sin..
@MasterOfSparks ...butr loans given by local banks take into account the character of the individuals, and either give the money or not based on character. Fanny and Freddy created a "false class warfare" scenario; as Rahm Immanuel said " Never let a good crisis go to waste." This was a concocted crisis: a socialist power grab: Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis, oldest trick in the book. And, because Big Gov't was not listening to the voices of reason, they got scammed or were in on it.
@MasterOfSparks It's quite possible that someone other than the executives at Enron knew what was going on, and did nothing. We often have to hear about people who lose their jobs because they blew the whistle on executive malfeasance. All people have consciences, and some have them seared by evil, others have them turned on " high " all the time. Corps are comprised of all kinds of people with all kinds of consciences. Nothing hidden will not eventually be revealed.
@MasterOfSparks US inventor Thos Edison said." If our nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good, makes the bill good also. The difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets the money brokers collect twice the amount of the bond and an additional 20%.
Gov't have a right to create and issue money but gov'ts have have given that power to chartered banks, which are corps. Grt Brit did it first,in1694,US & Canada in1913.
@MasterOfSparks You may be lumping corps in with banks. The first "bad idea" came from Great Brit, when they gave the power to the banks. Corps have become used to thinking like banks. But they're not banks. So corps become evil, like banks; Enron was a ponzi scheme trading in energy credits. Our banking system is essentially a ponzi scheme, too. Mr Obama is trying to do ponzi schemes with energy credits, too. That's why he calls big corps evil; because they often are, but not all...

Gundamseedsucks 6 months ago
@Gundamsee Christ will always divide; it is His to divide; it doesn't have to be that way; we can choose unity....or not. If it weren't for Christian Crusaders fighting Islam to a standstill in Europe, we'd all be Muslim now.
It's difficult for anyone living today to imagine the world in the time of the Crusades, but I have a feeling we'll soon all be able to get a taste of it. As divisive as Christianity can be, we can thank Christianity for many more good things than bad.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago

@Gundam One man brought death and sin into the world; only One Man overcame death and sin and took death out. No other previous god has overcome sin and death. Yep, the God/Man Jesus is the one and only God, and men can deal with that as they wish; the True God doesn't force people to convert and love him. Can't say that about the god that Muslims worship. Everyone worships something, even if its only himself. I worship the God of Life, who overcame death & sin. It has made all the difference.

@finishstrongdoc And as far as morality goes I think its deeply disturbing
how we downplay our human intelligence as if we cant be healthy moral human beings
unless a 2000 yearold storybook tells us how to live or act.
Gundamseedsucks 6 months ago
@Gundam On the contrary; Christianity doesn't downplay human intelligence, it elevates it to its highest; since God became man in Christ, all humanity has been elevated. But just as there are limitations on human intelligence, there are limitations on the human soul. It is only by limiting our choices to what is good, true & beautiful that man achieves his highest potential. Love wins by giving; hate loses by taking; all men suffer, not all men become worthy of their suffering.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@Gundam Love is suffering for others. Love wills the highest and best good for the sake of the beloved.
God is Love. Godly Love limits choice. Godly choices increase happiness. Man wants to be happy; God wants man to be happy. Make God happy; love God and then do what you will.

Rhuddlan 6 months ago
@Sessylius You mean rein, not reign. The metaphor is about horses, not kings.
I don't think you really understand what you're talking about. Your point that it's always hard to make politicians balance the books is fine, but that doesn't change the fact that massive tax increases or service cuts could literally cause another great depression at this point. Look at greece and the UK, or even the USA's own history. Austerity measures in times of economic crisis _always_ make things worse.

MasterOfSparks 6 months ago
@Sessylius If the drug addict were battling cancer and drug withdrawal symptoms would kill him, I would tell him to postpone losing the drugs until his health was able to withstand it. You have it the wrong way around. Bad times are _not_ when government should be doing things that will further _hurt_ the economy.
The american ship IS sinking right now, and it's not sinking because of the deficit. Reducing the deficit is an important long-term goal, but it has nothing to do with the crisis now.
Rhuddlan 6 months ago
Raising taxes and cutting spending are both bad for the economy. This whole process is moronic. Look at the job numbers!
The federal government should be ignoring the deficit right now and spending _massive_ amounts of stimulus money to try to get the job market working. Once you have an economy that's not on the verge of collapse, then you can have this talk. But deficit-reducing measures when the market is this fragile are just plain stupid.

@TheChasty What reality is that? That the Federal Government is a gross perpetrator of outrageous overspending and waste and needs to get their finances together? No... I think they understand that perfectly well.
TominatorJ 6 months ago
@TominatorJ A reality where market stability is a key indicator of whether or not investors want to take risks on industries and corporations in a particular country. I know that there is gross overspending and waste but we should not let the past ailments cloud our judgement of a present situation.
Refusing to commit to a long term deal of one year at least does not contribute to a comfortable and stable American economic environment. Thinking that a 3 or 4 month deal will work is childish
TheChasty 6 months ago
@TheChasty They tried to pass a long term bill that would have cut spending, capped future spending based on a percentage of GDP, and forced the Government to do what millions of successful households and businesses do - balance their budget.
Do you also not realize that our "present situation" is caused largely in part due to Democrats controlling all three branches of gov for 2 years, in which time they added 4 trillion to the deficit and did not pass ANY budget?
TominatorJ 6 months ago
@TominatorJ Your tunnel vision of the "present situation" is laughable, but not surprising. It's what every other right wing parrot has been saying for years. The reality is that both sides carry some blame, but the Democrats being in control for 2 years doesn't even come close to the runaway government spending in the Bush years. And your logic also ignores the fact that the 4 trillion deficit in those 2 years was the ending result of Bush tax cuts, and republican voted bailouts.
egojab 6 months ago
@TheChasty You want to talk about market stability? OK. Let's take a page from Clinton's Economic Game Plan, since you guys seem to love him so much. Clinton bolstered the US economy by cutting a trillion dollars out of spending over 5 or 6 years (which sparked investors to take advantage of better interest rates), coupled with tax breaks for small businesses. Jobs and Economy recovery is not going to come from insane gov spending. Actually, the opposite is generally what promotes growth.

TominatorJ 6 months ago

Do we blame warning sirens for tornados?
Do we blame smoke detectors for fires?
Car alams for break-ins?
LastStandforLiberty 7 months ago
@LastStandforLiberty It's not the only time this country was debt free. Clinton payed off the debt and handed Bush a surplus. Then Bush spent and spent us into what we have today. And don't tell me he's no longer in office and it's Obama's debt. We are still digging out of the mess that Bush left.
Fringe111 7 months ago
@Fringe111 Clinton did not pay off anything. The Republican Congress delivered a balanced budget to him which he had sufficient common sense to sign into law. Having a balanced budget does not pay off the debt, which was not paid off during either of his terms. The enabler for the balanced budget was the tax increases enacted by the congress and his predecessor (cost him the election).
I never blame Presidents except for their consistent failure to veto unconstitutional legislation
ChampaignLibertarian 7 months ago
@Fringe111 The claim that Clinton left Bush a surplus is bogus. Clinton used gimmicks to hide the deficit in his budget. And the projections of future surpluses did not take into account the occurrence of things like 9/11 or Katrina or the War on Terror.
bigravensfan21 7 months ago
@bigravensfan21 Yeah that's what happens when you turn the country over the scum bag conservatives like Bush. His response to more than 50 warnings about bin Laden was to take the month of September 2001 off to go pull brush at his cattleless ranch in Crawford TX. Ten years ago the biggest problem this country had was what to do with all the surplus. The biggest problem now is that our nations conservatives stand revealed as treasonous vermin.
MasterOfSparks 7 months ago
@MasterOfSparks As I said in my earlier post, the claim that Clinton left Bush a surplus is bogus. And how dare you call conservatives treasonous vermin. Is that really what you think of someone who disagrees with you politically? You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
bigravensfan21 6 months ago
@bigravensfan21 Any dialog with conservatives should begin with the understanding that these people are mentally ill. They murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq for reasons that changed every week. Yet they feel no remorse. They are incapable of it. Which makes the sociopaths. Every damned one of them. Then they turn around and whine like little bitches and want sympathy for how "picked on" they are. They think their opinions should be valued no matter how vile and stupid .
MasterOfSparks 6 months ago 2
@bigravensfan21 I'll call them worse than that. They are vile stupid scum. The best thing they could do for this country is put guns in their mouths & paint their ceilings red. Its not a matter of them disagreeing with me. They are entitled to be just as stupid as they want. My problem is that they sucked GWB's dick for 8 years and whooped it up when he was committing mass murder in Iraq. & now instead of showing the shame they so rightly earned they want to do to the USA what they did in Iraq.
MasterOfSparks 6 months ago

The rest all being sociopaths and economic lunatics with the vile Ayn Rand and miserably failed Friedmanian economic horse droppings.
MasterOfSparks 7 months ago
@MasterOfSparks I don't hold that against McCain; everyone eventually broke, and the trick where he signaled " torture" in Morse code by blinking was a slick move and helped all the POWs in the camp eventually. But his privilege, hot-dog attitude and tendency to panic put him in Hanoi Hilton; he wouldn't have been there otherwise; says a lot about him. The guy's a " Jonah" and needs to be put off ship in the next port.
finishstrongdoc 7 months ago
@finishstrongdoc McCain also crashed three aircraft before he even got into combat flying. Once he did a hot-dog maneuver that cut off the power to a whole province in France, precipitating an international incident for US diplomats. He was never court-martialed for it. Wonder why? I could sense the resentment the aviators had for McCain. He begged to be on the air strike that took him down, the Air Boss was against it, but he's a "charmer". And he was the " fortunate son" of an Admiral.

God will punish them for their greed.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@finishstrongdoc Unfortunately we're ALL going to end up paying for their greed. Because greedy capitalists use Christianity to convince narrow minded people to vote against their own economic interests. Like denying global climate change. @MasterOfSparks Sir, we have common ground on many things here, but I admit I must remain in in the "narrow-minded" class of people who are guided by True Religion as revealed to the Saints and passed on through the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
MasterOfSparks 6 months ago
@MasterOfSparks I recall Ken Lay, a suicide, was an executive of Enron. And Skilling went to jail. I suggest the original failure was not with the rise of corps, but the invention of the Protestant idea of loaning money at interest. Money can't grow itself; it should represent an increase of production. Thos Jefferson wanted the $ to be based on the increase of the land. We once had a gold standard. Ancient Israel asked for a King to replace God. Ideas have consequences. Bad ideas have bad ones.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@finishstrongdoc There is value in being allowed the use of money for a period of time. That value is what interest is supposed to pay for. It's rental. Enron is a single example. Why aren't any of the bankers that committed fraud and crashed the economy in 2008 in prison? I still remember the Watergate hearings every afternoon on TV. Why no investigations into the banks and the congressmen who rolled back the protections? Obama also failed to investigate the Bush admin re Iraq.
MasterOfSparks 6 months ago
@MasterOfSparks You would need to see the books on Fanny and Freddy to get an accurate piture as to how our economy collapsed; those schemes exposed the weakness of the banking system based on interest on loans. The people who got the loans weren't able to pay the " rental" on them and the system collapsed, but the go't decided to "prop up" the collapsing system with a "bailout". The bond market is collapsing now because of those unsecured loans. Bundling caused the crash...
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@finishstrongdoc Actually it was deregulation that caused the crash. Just like Reagan crashed the S&Ls when he deregulated them. Why do conservatives continue to blame the people who took out loans thinking "real estate always goes up. I don't need to pay off the loan. I'll just sell it at a higher price and make lots of money!" instead of blaming the bankers who issued such loans? I mean if you lent your own money to someone you knew couldn't pay you back wouldn't it be your own fault?
MasterOfSparks 6 months ago
@MasterOfSparks Reagan was a softie who was hard on Communism and easy on capitalism, and was easily deceived by the banksters who knew that ruining the little S&L's would eventually lead to bankrupting our economy. Fannie & Freddie were the vehicles that were/are driving this bus over the cliff. Conservatives wake up slowly to evil;most of us are like Reagan. But at least we have sense enough to finally wake up to the evils of the commie dream which is really a nightmare.

Socialism is the first step toward Communism, but it always ends up badly, with lots of ppl being killed to preserve the illusion of " progress". finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@Gundam BTW, it may surprise you to learn that now, in the former Soviet Union, the leaders are trying to get more people interested in going to Churches. Dicken's " A Christmas Carol" was ...
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
Respond to this video... a morality play reminding England that, banks and Gov'ts shouldn't be " borrowing and lending" or doing charity. Davy Crokett found out that there are reasons why common gov't funds to do business wasnt " theirs to give" to do charity; that should be left to local charitable groups. That's called "subsidiarity", where the best gov't is local, with a preferential option for the poor. I f sin is causing poverty, banks and corps can make profit off of sin..
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@MasterOfSparks ...butr loans given by local banks take into account the character of the individuals, and either give the money or not based on character. Fanny and Freddy created a "false class warfare" scenario; as Rahm Immanuel said " Never let a good crisis go to waste." This was a concocted crisis: a socialist power grab: Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis, oldest trick in the book. And, because Big Gov't was not listening to the voices of reason, they got scammed or were in on it.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago

Grt Brit did it first,in1694,US & Canada in1913.
finishstrongdoc 6 months ago
@MasterOfSparks You may be lumping corps in with banks. The first "bad idea" came from Great Brit, when they gave the power to the banks. Corps have become used to thinking like banks. But they're not banks. So corps become evil, like banks; Enron was a ponzi scheme trading in energy credits. Our banking system is essentially a ponzi scheme, too. Mr Obama is trying to do ponzi schemes with energy credits, too. That's why he calls big corps evil; because they often are, but not all...
