  • Speaking in tongues is just babbling like an idiot. It is not a language or anyway to talk to god.

  • this is great. i was - to some degree - simliar to one of the described charasmatics believing that i had heard from the holy spirit without reflecting on complete biblical truth. praise God that he helped me to see the reality of my emotion-based assumptions on what the Holy Spirit was "supposedly" telling me. i now hope to have a true and biblical perspective on what the Holy Spirit is saying to me.

  • Listen to that echo! What is his office a white-washed cave?!

  • This is not an excellent video. It is trash. Religion is founded upon a primitive need that most of us don't recognise now. We can find our meaning through being here; we can be honest, funny and trustworthy. We don't need guidance from a fairy tale, and most of all, we don't need the promise of eternal life in heaven of some stupid person's weird desires. Heaven would be hell, frankly - Endless worship? What would that be for? If I were you I would pray that wasn't true.

  • @StrumstickJoe you seem full of resentment and outright hatred. and you think your the more intelligent person here because of your belief system that doesn't include god, and you call men like me the religious bigots. you should take a look at yourself. we aren't as smart as we think we are. niether are we as good as we may want to think ourselves to be. now when a man realizes those things, then he starts paying more attention to the truth.

  • @Terrybob123 I expressed neither resentment not hatred. I didn't make any claim for superior intelligence. I just think the world is the world; life is life, and we should all do what we can for others around us as well as for ourselves. I do happen to think that it is strange to believe in magic, but that is because I've never seen any, and think that it cannot exist. The world is wonderful - in fact the universe is wonderful - but it is not magical.

  • The problem with the refusal of allowing the gift of tongues to operate it the Church. Reasonable minded persons cannot deny in the scriptures people spoke in tongues! People have determined that speaking in tongues "now" is demonic or no longer needed there is absolutley no scriptural evidence to support those ideas. THEY are using their experience or lack therof because they have not spoken in tongues. This also is false truth just like the crazy charasmatics who dont want to read their bible!

  • pastor Macarthur isnt a good source for spiritual gifts teachings. Cause he doesnt believe that they're still around

  • I had an associate tell me that at their old church a gay choir director came up to her and said that GOD wanted them to get married. She ran as fast she could out of that church. The Bible says to test the spirits and so there's nothing wrong with discerning right from wrong.

  • Christians that have been healed of a sickness believe healing is for today. Christians that are sick for long periods of time eventually believe that healing is not for today. You can't separate Scripture from experience, they work together over time. To die a Christian is to simply never experience anything contrary to Scripture. And to twist experiences to fit Scripture or vice versa.

  • exactly you cant tell deluded people that they are deluded

  • I must also write to ask that the term "schizophrenic" no longer be used like this in a derogatory manner. I work with people with mental illnesses and this is appalling to those living with schizophrenia. As Christians, we need to be much more loving to those around us then to throw words like that around when people are hurting. This needs to change in the body where we use horrid methods just to prove a point. I really don't see Jesus causing hurt to others to prove a point.

  • Schizophrenia is demon possession I have a cousin with that I know about that they start out being fully in control of themselves deep sins comitted and traumatizing things happen and an evil spirit takes over then more and more and more and in some cases they are unsure which spirit it is. I also have helped indiviuals off the street who have had similar diagnosis like bi polar and all of those junk medical terms same but differant spirits I have rebuked these spirits and some have been quieted

  • @ProphecyofNewLight Mental illness exists just as much as physical illness. Please don't deny that there are mental disorders. Medicine is divine inspiration and there is nothing wrong with someone taking them. If someone has been delivered from a mental illness by a miracle, God bless them. If someone still has a mental illness God bless them too. It doesn't make them any less a Christian.

  • @imhotep1 Of course it would be such a blessing. There is a differance between mental disability and schizophrenia which is demon possesion is one you have control over yourself and do not have a demon living in you I know I have a cousin who was schizophrenic God can cure both mental and demon possession I cast demons out in the name of Jesus in public not in a church alone. God can heal though he really can.

  • @ProphecyofNewLight um no schitzophrenia is a disease. If it was an evil spirit they wouldn't detect it in cat-scans. If it can be helped with medicine, it is not a possession. I believe in possessions but schitzophrenia and bi-polar disorder is not a possession.

  • I must write to ask that you go fuck yourself. The reason terms like schizophrenic, retarded ,stupid ,idiot ,faggot , ect... are used in a derogatory manner is because saying a normal healthy human is on the mental level of a schizo ,or a retard ,is a great insult to a healthy normal human being. How using this terms as an insult affect schizophrenics or retards in any way shape or form I cannot see ,not using this terms as an insult is not going to heal anybody or make their situation any better.

  • I am a Bible teacher and believe that scripture is the sole basis of my faith. That said, I also believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is for today and do experience Him. All I believe and do is lined up with scripture. This video is very untrue in believing that all Charismatics are emotionalists. I do have emotional responses to the Holy Spirit touching my life, but at the same time I do ensure they line up with scripture.

  • @hollyllama11 You are right. It is scriptural to say that when one recieves the Holy Ghost one will speak in other tongues as the spirit of God gives him utterance. Many are not right in their interpretation of scripture to contradict this. It is also sciptural to say that a man is born again by th baptism in the Holy Ghost which comes about by faith in Jesus' death and resurrection. god puts within the believer in Christ the gift of the Holy ghost not only to prove that Jesus died and rose

  • @hollyllama11 again but to confirm before other believers (and non believers) that the one recieving the holy has truly repented of their sins and believed the good news of the atoning work of Jesus in His death and resurrection. so god lit the fire of his altars in the Old Testament, and man was not allowed lest it be called strange fire, so God lights the fire of his altar in the new testament which is the heart of the believer where upon ones own works are laid daily

  • How's this for being schizoprenic? I 100% agree with Pastor John MacArthur, and I am a Spirit filled believer!

The Bible absolutely has to be our objective source, and holds primacy to any experience one may have. The Holy Spirit is NOT going to contradict the Bible. If you've gotten a 'revelation' that is counter to what the Bible says, then it is NOT from God. It is rather from Satan and should be ran away from!

Unfortunately too many "charismatics" don't study the Bible enough

  • amen to that

  • This is an incredible video, I can do nothing but stand up and applaud the guy on this video, and indeed John MacArthur for standing up and saying something that's true.

I've said similar things to my fellow "charismatic" friends, and I've been told to shut up and worse, but yeah

I am sick and tired of emotionalism. Bring back hermeneutics and the Scripture in Christianity!

  • @Wilkins777 Some Christians not only those who are "charismatic" can get carried away. I have been told false visions, prophecies, dreams, etc. It's like committing blasephemy because they will defy scriptures.

  • I may have misunderstood your complete point there, sorry if I did. Just trying to let people know that it is in scripture and you can experience it if you allow God to move in that way.

  • You just dont understand. The holy spirit isn't schizophrenic but he can talk to you. He talked to Moses and the people thought he was mad. He talked to Elijah. He talked to all the prophets. But when Jesus died and God sent the other Comforter we all have access to the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues is like the world is lifted off your shoulders and you have no worries in that instant. The Holy spirit has spoken to me b4 and ppl who didn't know bout it confirmed it.

  • The truth is if I were atheist I wouldn't understand the bible I would have 2 experience God's presence which I would when I got save cuz you can feel His love when you make that commitment. God want's a relationship with every person on this planet. So how can you say tongues are gone away when God is the same yesterday today and forever. He is not a man that he should lie nor a son of man that he should change his mind. So if God allowed it then we have it now

  • ok don't take this wrong, but yes I know scripture must be used to back up anything we do, say, or think for that matter. The thing is the bible is our instruction manual per say our help guide we must study it and show ourselves approved. The other thing is though sometimes we can't understand the things God is teaching til we experience them we go through things.

  • Watch my speaking in tongues videos on my channel.

    Bless you all

  • This video and some commenting on it are putting others down and their beliefs, and that is not Christian at all.

  • Please check out my 1st video , I hope to make more and with even more content relevant to the time.

    Blessings Andrea

  • DID THE BIBLE SAVE YOU OR DID JESUS? Do you worship a book or a person?

  • I worship Jesus, the one who saved me, the one who gave me the book.

If one ignores the book he wrote about himself, the book that paints his nature clear for us to understand through the Holy Spirit,

one may quickly invent his own idol.

God gave you the scriptures because they're solid, unchanging, and clear. They are not like a heart, your heart, every heart--which is decietfully wicked and slated for subjection UNDER the scriptures.

  • 1 Cor. 14-39 Is this not scripture, DO NOT FORBID TO SPEEK WITH TONGUES ? IT IS STILL IN MY BIBLE.

  • When did I ever forbid you that?

I do request though: please ensure that when you do, you do it in the spirit, and do not speak in gibberish then labeling it tongues.

  • Mark 3:28-30 (Larger context: 3:20-30)

    28 "Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;

29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"--

30 because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."

  • Yes, that's an excellent reminder to not be like the Pharisees, twisting the scriptures to invent their own God, but rather to be soft to Holy Spirit's correction, that we might turn toward God and his truth as recorded in His living word.

  • Matthew

    12:31-32 (Larger context: 12:22-37)

31 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

32 "And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the {age} to come.

  • Brother be warned, Don't BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT, THATS WHAT YOUR DOING NOW FOR THOSE WHO DON"T BELIEVE IT IS REAL

  • Who did now huh?

  • ive seen at a prayer session a manifestattion of the gift of tingues. it happened to a fellow brother in Jesus , he wasnt mumbling something , he started speaking in a language never heard of, he was edifying Jesus, his experience was a true gift

  • tongues is clearly stated in the Bible as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit 1Cor 12:10 ,unfortunately it is also one of the easiest for satan to ridicule.

  • The sin of this video is retained.

  • In what way?

  • @LaneCh The Holy Spirit told him...

  • I have been a born-again, spirit-filled believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, for well over thirty years ... and let me say this:

I would absolutely RUN like a gazelle from ANYONE who tells me to put away my Bible in order to be saved from the wrath of Almighty God.

Our Lord might disagree with us at times in our lives, but He would NEVER tell us to put away His Word ... it is the only thing which can keep us safe in a world that is becoming more and more filled to the brim with deception.

  • Yeah, I'd outrun the gazelle.

  • This is an excellent video.

  • The gift of tongues is for today. However there are many who are faking the gift. The bible outlines clearly what the tongues are used for... the edification of the church when an interpreter is present, and a direct line to God between the believer and The Almighty.

  • Tongues is not "Oh shata ra baba la Shata". Ligitimate tongues ended around the time of the death of the last apostle.

  • The bible has not said there has been a end to the speaking in tongues. And while I agree that today's "tongue" "Shonda is a comin in a honda" are not biblical and need to be quieted, we cannot take the other extreme either and say that a gift God gives through the Holy Spirit is no longer around. Is the Holy Spirit not at work today?

  • The Holy Spirit is most definetly at work today. But not in the charismatic sense. Since the bible is in almost every tongue today, what would be the purpose for tongues? All we need is the bible.

  • There are thousands of languages without a Bible, and missionaries to those people groups have reported believable stories of language barriers crossed miraculously. Of course, toungues as we know them in America today are false. But I'd say God still works in that way in remoter areas of the world.

  • @Oct31st1517 To answer this, I would say that you are using reason because we have the Bible. However, within the same Bible, you have nothing that states that once you have a Bible, there would be no need for tongues. As a matter of fact, Paul spoke about praying in tongues for the pupose of edifying onesself. He also said that praying in other tongues is a mystery between man and God. At the same time that Paul was teaching, he still used the Jewish scriptures to expound upon.

  • @Oct31st1517 said who? Give scripture for that ending. Not reason, SCRIPTURE

  • Good video...my Mom does this; puts experience over the Bible, and tells me I spend too much time in the Word and so forth. It's really distressing and is coming between us, I have to say.

  • Thank God for MacArthur's life and ministry.

  • A Clear description of the difference between the Charismatics and the true gospel. The way of interpreting the Scripture!

  • That quote is from MacArthur's book "Charismatic Chaos." Great book, helped me to gain a higher view of the Bible and its sufficiency.

  • Great Video!

  • Nice to have this online to link to. Thanks!

  • "Black and white reference"; now I get the white background of the office setup. Wow, after that, I think I'll read 1 Corinthians.
