Yet in this video, he admits himself that he campaigned for Bush to be re-elected, signifying that he did in fact agree with Bush on most issues. Why is it absurd? Lincoln had done virtually nothing when he became president. In fact, he had arguably done less the Obama. Much like Obama, he gave a speech while campaining for a senate seat (though he lost his campaign and Obama won) just a few years before his presidency, which put him on the national spotlight. Other than that, all he had was two years experience in the House of Representatives I think. So there are many similiarities at-leasat in the pre-President lives of the two.

I think thats debatable. Our past two Presidents (Bush/Clinton) only had state level executive experience as governors. Obama has 8 years of experience as a state legislator, 4 as a US senator (though half of it was spent campaigning), and no executive experience at all..... So even 150 years later, experience isn't necessarily a prerequisite. Some people actually view a long Washington resume as a bad thing as some of our most experienced Presidents have also been very bad Presidents.
