A lot of Americans and British give the French crap regarding their military. Why? I have no idea. They were always a strong nation during Medieval and classical history and then under Napoleon they were the most dominant power in the world. Only until all of Europe combined their strength was Napoleon brought down, and the decline of the French military after Napoleon's defeat was why the French military was so weak in WWI and WWII.

@RJhasFLOW ALSO, in Afghanistan today, French military units are one of the most effective of the coalition. I think people hate on the French because they are proud to be French. A shame in my opinion.

French was not weak in WWI, we fought until the end, and won most of the WWI battles. In WWII, the government lost the battle of Franc (after 6 weeks of fighting and more than 100000 people dead on both sides), but the french militaries continued to fight along with the brits under the flag of the French Free Forces.

@chenoir When I said that the French military was weak in WWI and WWII, I was speaking comparatively. France went from being the greatest military power in Europe to a relatively small force. I didn't mean to take anything away from their efforts. They fought throughout WWI and in WWII, continued to fight under different names.

@RJhasFLOW I don't think our army was any weaker than the other armies engaged in the conflict. Had the right strategy been employed we could've stopped the germans and could've even pushed them back in Germany because it was so poorly defended. French politicians were the ones to blame for not using a more than decent army the right way. The reason why the French had to give up so quickly wasn't because they were cowards or because their army was bad. They just were strategically outmatched.

You are correct that the main reason the Nazi German forces defeated the initial French military defence of France was due to the General staff of the French Army clinging to largely out-dated tactics while the German's had innovated (Blitzkrieg). That being said, in WWI, France lost 1.1 million soldiers. The French military suffered a tremendous blow. The effect of the blow was still present during the onset of WWII.

Nope, the EF-2000 was beaten 7-1 in air engagement by the rafale in March ATLC in the UEA.

And it doesn't have half the AG capabilities of the Rafale.

Only advantage is it's a bit more powerful.

No way the EF2000 is more manoeuvrable than the Rafale, which has too Supercruise.

Plus the EF2000 SER is like 5 times higher than the rafale one which has both semi-passive and active stealth. And the Rafale too is equipped with meteor long range AAM

I know they both use Meteors.

But sence there both semi stealth our F-22 would be invisible if not a tiny bird to there radars where to the F-22 it sees 2 small planes.

the Rafale is a last generation fighter ( but not stealth so not "5th" ) it's a multi rôle fighter, fighter/bomber/reco and it's a naval fighter as well as an air force fighter.

he has 2 engines. M2000 has 1

its a concentrate of the last technology.

you can compare him to an eurofighter typhoon, the Rafale is a bit better (and the typhoon is not a naval fighter )

the Mirage 2000 is an air supériority fighter mainly. you can compare M2000 to an F16 in better

to finish the Typhoon is very similar to the Rafale but he s not as good as the Rafale in Bomber and in dogfight.

Segun lei, en eso radica el problema del Rafale para vender fuera de Francia, muchos no ven la razon para comprar un Rafale cuando no ven mucha diferencia del Mirage 2000, por eso buscan aviones como el Jas-39 que se le ha ido alante al Rafale en varias ventas internacionales.

Le radar du Rafale est très bon. Voir meilleur que celui du Typhon qui n'a même pas de balayage électronique.

Et le RBE2 que Thales est en train de développer le rendra excellent.

Any way, Rafale first flight was on the 4th of July 1986 wereas the Eurofighter first fly in 1994, Rafale was fist used in 2001 wereas the eurofighter served for the first time in 2004 but they are both good fighters, that's true...
