  • He was out

  • wow i remember that ad still hate peanut butter though

  • 22 years? wtf? time flies.

  • The Child in this is Joe Absolum

  • I was the catcher in that ad. I'm now 35 and it's funny as watching this again for the first time in about 20 years. It was filmed at an American/international school some where in west London. What most people don't see is the scene were joe is running with sparks it was my brother that gets showered in hot metal fillings burning his uniform

  • With 93% peanuts, I used to like a bit of that sun-packed fun-packed Sun-Pat peanut butter, then I took an arrow to the motherfuckin' knee...

  • :22 wtf was that? Troll face?

  • Sun Pat, Fun-Packed, Our Son Pat. I'll kill 'm when I get me ands on 'im!

  • He's playing baseball. Shoudln't he be playing rounders?

  • Remember this ad, it was constantly featured in the advert breaks for Channel 4's breakfast TV kids' segment of that era (think it was called 'Early Bird' in those days, before the Big Breakfast launched their Saturday morning programme)

  • @DaveDaRave1980

Yep. You're right. Historically Channel 4 NEVER did very well in the breakfast market before AND after TBB.

  • Peanut butter is lovely but it contains about a zillion calories. It was OK back then because parents kicked their kids out all day to play in all weathers with no supervision as they would a diurnal cat. These days, the fact that most of the lyric lines rhyme with "fat" would be noticed more often.

  • its not ringo, its michael angelis.

  • I remember this advert well - and also remember thinking what a wanker that kid was.

  • 100% Peanuts or STFU.

  • that kids been in eastenders and some weird horror fil he was in well messed up and is that ringo

  • Likes a bit of this, likes a bit of that.

Does he really, Ringo? How's the Fat Controller doing?

  • fuckin hated that kid

  • Fuk me this was 1990!! I remember it like yesterday and I am 31 next month :/

  • I remember this advert but I used to hate it!! I was 10

  • "I'll kill him when I get me hands on him!"

These days with the world as PC as at is (Broadcast wise) you couldn't threaten to a kill a kid even if it is in jest and a scripted tone! For an ad like that now, There'd probably be something stupid like 7,000 complaints from people with no lives with Ofcom on speed dial.

  • @Hulk2k6

I remember in later editions of this ad they cut the last bit out.....precisely for the reasons you state..

  • I FUCKING REMEMBER THIS AD!!!!!!! I must've been 3 or 4 when I saw this.

  • Our son pat saw a woman in a hat and said he'd tap that! :P

  • roy west

  • I remember this one so well. I was eleven!

  • our son pat; he's a cocky little twat!!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't he running around in a SQUARE as opposed to a circle? Also:

    1. He could be sued for damaging a space satellite

    2. He could be sued for ruining the pitch while running

    3. He could be sued for putting a hole in that guys hand

    4. His dad will take his pocket money to pay for that window.

OOPS!! So no more Peanut Butter for Patrick for a while.. he won't be able to afford it!!!!!!!

  • When has a Scouse kid ever played baseball??

  • @Kwintty7 Never, but eed use de bat to rob yer ouse! :) That was my scouse txt writing by the way ha ha!

  • Classic stuff! I remember this advert. Never thought it could've been Michael Angelis doing the voice-over. Sounds a lot like him, though. Must be

I have a dim memory of seeing this advert with a slightly different ending: instead of the ball crashing through the window, there was the caption "and also with chocolate spread" (or similar). Anyone else remember that? Saw this ending too, of course

  • Joe Absalom

  • LOVE IT...THE DAD GIVING THE SON THE WANKER GESTURE AT THE END!

  • Fun Packed, Sun Packed our son Pat

  • Wow! Blast from the past. Quite a funky advert.

  • isnt that joe absolom who played matthew in eastenders?

  • @andybrad84 Yep, sure is!

  • It still sounds like he says 33% peanuts... This one used to be on all the time during the DJ Kat Show on galaxy/sky one

  • Our son pat, is nifty with a bat

can run from police, always kill a cat

when he gets picked up, he'd never rat

    with lots of peanuts mofo

he likes a bitta pussy, he likes a bit of ass

gun packed, fun packed our brother pat

    motherfucker

  • Fuck off Pat

  • Our son Pat, is a bit nifty with a bat

Can run in a circle, as fast as a cat.

When he gets a little peckish, he takes off 'is 'at!

    With 93% peanuts

He likes a bit of this, likes a bit of that,

Sun packed, fun packed our son Pat

I'll kill 'im when I get my 'ands on 'im!!!!!!

  • haha joe abslom!!!!!

  • This advert always makes me want a peanut butter sandwich, yummy.

  • hahahahahaha i used to love this advert, where have the 20 years gone xx

    phil i love you lol

  • Ahllkillimwhenagetmeandsonum

  • 0:22 MMMmmmmmmmmm

  • The Sun-Pat kid is Joe Absolom who was also a Milky Bar Kid before finding fame in Eastenders and other TV shows!

  • Sun Pat, Fun Packed, our Sun Pat! Will always remember this!

  • My favourite television advert of all time. I still remember it after all these years. I love the bit at the end, where the old man goes 'I'll kill 'im when I get my 'ands on him!' The voice on the advert sounds like Ringo Starr from The Beatles.

  • amazing when u think how health obsessed we r

  • well the boy with the bat is from south london and was in eastenders when he got older!!! hes mum worked at my little brothers school when this was filmed she was a drama teacher.. hes dad is also a teacher at waverly girls school !!!!FACT

  • hahaha, thats matty who use 2 b in eastenders!! great ad :)

  • boy with the glove and the ball goes through is me, i got paid £45 for being in this

  • is that ringo starrs voice? i remember this, i was only 5

  • Joe Absolom who used to be in EastEnders... I think this featured on one of those 'before they were famous' type fillers and he was totally cringing. I actually think he should be pretty proud of this ad because everyone remembers it.

  • @pufferfishish I can remember thinking he was ugly in this when I was a child!

  • Is it me or does pat look like a right smarmy lil shite lol

  • @mossleyadam haha, it doesn't even look like he's actually eating the stuff either; just moving his lips back and forth.

  • i ate SUn-Pat and i haven't hit balls into the atmosphere! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

  • @GoldenLegends

Yeah, only the heads of innocent people are used as balls!

*sees about 50 scousers w/ Stanley knives* I kid, I kid!

Gerro's a damn good footballer, I loved Brookside and Mickey Starke is one of my fave actors.

  • I remember every nano second of this advert. Why can't my brain remember useful things?

  • Lol, i was thinking the same thing. I remember the lyrics and everything of this add. My brain is full of usefull information. lol

  • Nice one. Haven't seen this for YEARS!!!!!!

  • thats ringo starr speaking! i think anyway, sounds like him

  • @joebloggzmusic

I don't doubt that, I just wondered why they used the theme for a UK ad campaign.

  • My worst food is Penut Butter. I can't swallow it ifi had it in my mouth

  • Oh my f-ing GOD I haven't seen this ad in YEARS AND YEARS!! Always remembered it. Wonder why they used a clearly American ad featuring little league baseball over here in the UK?

  • It looks like sun pat but tastes like cow pat LMAO. Kerrie xxxx

  • Scousers playing baseball? huh

  • Aye! And if yaz got a problem wit dat, yeh can fook aaf!!

  • scousers being nifty with baseball bats, however? lolololololol

  • The boy playing baseball looks a bit like a young David Beckham. This is too American for me. And I dont know what Peanut Butter has got to do with Baseball?

  • The boy is Joe Absolom (played Matthew Rose in Eastenders)

  • Comment removed

  • The actor is Joe Absolom, british actor, british born etc etc.

    From IMDB:

Joe Absolom was born in 1978 and began acting in 1990 age 11 in a peanut butter advert. He then went on to star in Antonia and Jane (1991) and finally made his name as Matthew Rose in Eastenders in 1997 aged 18.

  • Pushy parents by the sound of it....who does that horrible grating working class scouse voice over?

  • Comment removed

  • It sounds like Ringo Starr to me.

  • Fuckin scousers!

  • It's Joe Absolom, born 1978, played Matthew in Eastenders. Matthew Rose?

  • is the kid in this advert the bloke in doc martin?

  • they have baseball in England? i'm actually serious, i was under the impression that cricket dominates outside of america and japan. I really did'nt think anyone played baseball in Britain except for a handful of people in obscure special-interest clubs

  • No-U.S sports remain superbly unpopular in the UK in terms of actually being played...but advertisers insist to this day on using things like baseball and basketball as advertising tools (peanut butter, of course being an "All-American" product)

  • Ice Hockey's sort of on slow but steady rise.

Basketball garners interest every time they play the 02 arena.

  • Indeed. ^_^

  • We have Cricket, which is similar, but not baseball, it was just for this advert for the purpose of telling a story while selling their product.

  • looks like an american ad to me but with a british voicover - the kid's face looks american and the window smashed house looks american...also they're playing baseball on an actual baseball field which is a bit of a give away

  • How can his face look american? they're the same race, you can't tell the differance...i bet he's british!

  • You can. It's not a heavily documented phenomenon, but especially in the 90s there was a very definite 'look' to American kids faces. There's also a look to Australian kid's faces.

My guess is it has something to do with environmental factors like pollution, food quality etc. My cousins grew up in America and despite them having British parents they had the American look to their faces.

  • Well he was played by Joe Absolom, an English actor.

The add was meant to look American because i guess that peanut butter is an American invention, although that doesn't explain the scouse accent.

  • you really can't tell the difference between british faces and american? weird.

anyway, damn the peanut butter on that bread looked nice. i want some now..

  • Voice by the great Ringo Soundalike John Angelis. And the lad wound up in Eastenders years later, but I cant remember who he was in it.

  • It's Michael Angelis, not John.

  • You are quite right. John Angelis was a bloke my old man used to work with and I think I got confused!

  • Fair enough.

  • OMG RINGO STARR!!!!!

  • Zebra 55 is correct. This is Scouse actor John Angelis who has made a roaring trade out of sounding a bit like Ringo since the 60s. He replaced Ringo on Thomas the Tank Engine and also did the voice for Ringo in the US Beatles cartoon series in the 60s

  • It's Michael Angelis, not Ringo Starr, but they both do come from Liverpool, hence the accent.

  • Wow. Peanut Butter mostly made from peanuts. Who would have thought?

  • hahah i recognised the kids face straight away! how wierd the way the memory works init!

  • "the guy"? lol Do you mean Ringo Starr?!

  • Damn, I must have the same recording too as this advert is on there too.

  • oh man flashbacks i always laugh at this advert especially at the end. I've been looking for this for quite some time and you made my day uploading it. good work!

  • So Pat is handy with a baseball bat? Of course,,, he's from Liverpool.. haha, only kidden, love the scousers

  • @jaksad funny but nobody loves the scousers. They can't even love each other.

  • @jaksad Hahahahahaha!! Well in.

  • @jaksad

    It's brummie. not scouser :).

  • @Roflmfaooooooo No dude.. it's rather obviously a Liverpool accent

  • @jaksad

Sounds brummie to me. But either way who cares it's an old advert. Just enjoy it lol

  • @Roflmfaooooooo I do enjoy it.. but mate they say "Our Son Pat" The funny thing about it is that it's scous. You obviosuly know nothing about accents. The V/O is from Liverpool (everyone who has commented has said so) and the little boy is Joe Absolom (he does not speak though)

  • @jaksad

Why are you trolling ? the debate ended already.

  • @Roflmfaooooooo it has now

  • Comment removed

  • @Roflmfaooooooo it's scouser not brummie ;)

  • is this ringo starr?

  • I'm pretty sure it's the actor Michael Angelis - who actually took over from Ringo doing the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' narration, so not a bad guess from you there.

  • The voice over is that chap from boys from the blackstuff, Angleheart757

  • lol, i remember this add when it was on tele and for you that dont know the kid in it is Joe Absolom, he was Matthew Rose in Eastenders

  • I think its jaqmie theakston

  • joe absolom who went on to be in eastenders for a few years

  • Ha ha....isn't that wats his face?

  • oh my god i soo remember this!

  • Everybody remember that Freaky advert right guys? :P

  • That kids the guy who used to be in eastenders xD

  • I think the voice over is Michael Angelis out of Boys from the black stuff (1982)

  • The voice over on the sun-pat advert is that chap from boys from the blackstuff, Angleheart757 - i noticed it too (only cos I watched it last week lol :o)

  • god so remember this and is ringo starr int it:)

  • It was Ringo

  • Ill kill him when I get my hands on him.lol

  • lol!!!!! I like the scouser accent!!!

  • Yer it was hard times,so they had to pay someone peanuts.lmfao

  • and he did Thomas the tank engine voices

  • Sometimes kids needed a good slap in them days, grinning like a twat!

  • You got a cracking sense of humour, nice comment

  • funny Maty.. :D

  • Hes well nifty with a cat and a bat

  • Who did the voice over? I recognise that voice.

  • Ringo Starr (The Beatles drummer)

  • Sounds like someone out of the comedy soap BREAD,check it

  • Man, this is classic. I must have been like 6-7 when this was on...

  • That's the same kid who was in the yellow pages adverts but he is younger than in this.

It's the advert where he uses the yellow pages as a step to kiss the girl who is taller then him.

    great days. =p

  • i think the 'he likes a bit of this, he likes a bit of that' bit is some kind of vague reference to the boy's bi-sexual tendencies. you'd never get away with that nowerdays.

  • Maybe.

But he can also 'run in a circle as fast as a cat', so I think its more likely that they were just really bad at writing rhymes :p

  • yes i heard the bad boy in this advert went school in south london and apparently he batterd a big dude for calling him peanuts or some shit!!! hahaha thats cooooool!!

  • bet he used a spinning bat, haha!

  • that ad was sick!!

  • This guy went on to be Matthew Rose in Eastenders. You know the one who helped Steve kill his girlfriend Saskia with the ashtray? Yes that is HIM!

  • You mean Joe Absalom, don't you?

  • you beat me to it i was gonna point that out

  • he was in eastenders!! when martin kemp was in it and he killed that girl with that matey boy who went down for it!! well that was him!!

  • looks more like squirell poo than peanut butter

  • this ad i sick!

  • he was in eastenders!! when ross kemp was in it and he killed that girl with that matey boy who went down for it!! well that was him!!

  • Was it me or did the man at the end say I'll kill him with the Counsil? No sorry wait I think it was I'll kill em when I get my hands on em. Infact I not only remember eating Sun Pat Peanut Butter. But also the music reminds me and makes me think it sounds like,an instrument used in songs.

  • This was one of the ads I used to love.. I'll kill 'im when I get my 'ands on 'im!! Hahaha best bit of the ad!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading this. This is another of my favorite ad's from the early 1990's. Thanks.

  • ...fun Pat, SunPat. Our Sun Pat - I'll kill im when I get my 'ands on im! My god I've missed these.

    (Oh, and I stand corrected.)

  • That's OK.

  • Sun-packed fun-packed.

  • best ad ever

  • Our sun pat.... Those were the days.

  • Joe Absolomb (if that is how you spell the surname) He recently showed up as a baddie in The Bill. All grown up now! lol

  • I remember this advert, too! Never forgot it at all, and was actually chuffed and surprised to see it on here. Words as fresh as yesterdecade!

  • eah I was thinking it was Michael Angelis. Just watch him on Theb Black Stuff / Boys from the Blackstuff.

  • He was also the narrator for Thomas the Tank Engine when Ringo Starr left.

  • HaHA!

    Seriously Most thanks, proper chuffed.

"..but when he gets a li'l peckish, he takes off 'is 'at!"

    Nice! Cheers ;)

  • I recited it as I watched but got stumped..

'Our son Pat, is a nifty with a bat

he runs in circle, as fast, as a cat.'

'But when gets a way with - ? - he takes off his hat!'

What does he get away with?!?!

  • When he gets a little bit peckish, he takes off his hat. He dosen't say gets away with at all.

  • I remember this ad from when I was around 5 or 6 years old.
