These are £500.00 RRP right?, i think they're way, way, way overpriced for a chinese guitar.... i'm sure they could sell it for less considering production costs are less there, plus it doesn't look like a £500.00 guitar to me, and for £500.00 i certainly wouldn't expect to have to change the PUPs as suggested a few posts down.
Adam Jones only uses the Treble Pickup (Seymour Duncan SH-4), he only uses the pickup selector as a killswitch (keeping upper pickup' volume at 0), when you change the pickup, guitar inmediately stops sounding. I use the same trick, and the same guitar and the same pickups, This guitar is just incredible, but not comparing with the Adam Jones ones, because they are just unique
@LittleEmoBoy001 Yea. I am not a big fan of his but i read some stuff he said about his gibson. He said the paint job gives it a different tone and that he has a few bumps and bruises he thinks have changed it too. A random screw in the body for one.
Its only the 1978-1983 Les Paul Custom Silverburst that have that sound he is talking about. They dont stay silver they turn an amazingly attractive green. I own a 1979 and I love the tone but most ppl hate it. So Adam isnt talking about all silverburst. Hope this clears the air.
I have this guitar. It absolutely needs new pups. The alnico chinese junkers that come stock are quite unimpressive when paired next to real '57 classics or something similar. And the pots. Tone pot range is almost non-existent.
I have this guitar too and that's an upgrade that will be surely done: not only the pups but the whole circuitry and '57s. I was dismayed to find the stock connections, which are feeble and production-line-friendly with those plastic connectors.
But I must say that in spite of these shortcomings, the stock config doesn't sound bad at all. In fact I'm investing my money on equipment rather than upgrading the guitar, which I will do sometime in the future.
i have this guitar, but i have a question, what's better about sound, the silverburst epiphone or the les paul standard epiphone?? are they the same humbuckers??
how do you do that at 1;52 ? it sounded sweet, and I'm getting a new guitar soon and im debating about this or a epi les paul standard what do you thing is better??
Look up harmonic palm slide. Its a little hard to explain. Check it out, youll get it. As far as your guitar choices the custom is little better in terms of wood and it has binding but mainly it just looks prettier, My suggestion is get the standard if you like it and put some money into gettin the pick ups replaced and the but changed. I dad that recently and it helps tremendously. Hope it goes well for you.
I'd go with silverburst (personally) One. It's a beautiful guitar. Two it has a great sound.. Main reason i'd get it though, is cause of the colour, if i were to buy it, I'd prolly put new Pups in, if i didnt like the stock ones.
hey u play wicked man, need 2 ask recently got 1 off ebay not sure if its faulty though, is ur second pickup, the one nearest hte fretboard, wobberly??
Uh my covers are gone now, but yes the neck pick up pivots around. Its ok. Now if its LOOSE and moves in any direction, that is different. Its probably ok. Send me a private message if you need more help.
I'd just like to say that I love everything about the epiphone les pual custom sivlerburst (except that it doesn't have a floyd rose and for this reason you should takea look at the dean ml '79) I would reecomend the epi lp to anybody
You basically run your palm very lightly against the strings as you do a hammer on on the 5and7 fretts of the d string. Just look up harmonic palm slide on here or something.
im kinda on teh fence with the whole emg and passive PUP thing..like one of my guitars has emgs..i like it very good for metal and hardcore shit..but my burst has seymour duncans in it,dimebucker bridge and 59 in the neck...and while the emg loaded guitar is awesome for metal/hardcore shit my burst is good for EVERYTHING...you can really hear the difference..
i've never been a les paul guy, but when i stumbled across this video a few months ago and saw the silverburst finish, i had a change of heart. i bought one the same day and it's now my favorite guitar. thanks, dude.
I'm (hopefully) getting an Epiphone G-400 Silverburst for Christmas. Would you recommend it? If it sounds like yours than I'm sure as hell getting it. And btw, how long have you played? You're good.
My friend was thinking about getting that guitar but settled on the white g400 with active emgs. That silverburst finish is gorgeous, Im sure it will sound about the same, same pickups, but it is a different body so it will vary somewhat. Youll like it though im sure, Been playing about... hmm... maybe 3 or 4 years. THanks man
The stock pickups arent great in any epiphones. Thats why they issue the ones with EMGs. Its considerable tone difference. Emgs are great for a very bright and lively sound. Awesome for metal. Saw you have some Coheed (my favorite band)stuff in your profile. The G-400 one with active 81 85s is the same set up Claudio used to use on all the albums and live. BUT i personally think the silverburst is gorgeous and probably worth putting nicer pickups into (im doing that soon). No problem.
I gotta disagree, though. I'll take Humbuckers over emg any day of the week. These are just a lower grade '57 classic mock that sound really good, especially if you switch out the volume pots.
I never liked the idea of a battery being anywhere near anything that affects my tone, unless it's an electric acoustic and you're pretty much stuck with it.
I think EMG's are overrated. A nice eq stomp can accoomplish the same thing without 9v's.
That's true to a degree, but the stock pickups in this guitar leave a lot to be desired, very muddy and not very sensitive. I just got mine switched out for a Duncan SH4, SH2 set. They sound amazing in comparison. I personally wouldnt get emgs either, but they are by no means a bad choice.
yeah im gettin those hot rods for 130$ they sound freakin awesome i have this same guitar ill put up a vid in a bit it sounds a lot better with tha seymour duncans pickups
Ok. If the question is, Is it easy to play pull offs and hammer ons, yes it is... NOW. But it takes practice just like anything else. Try learning the penotonic minot scale and find parts where bends and hammer ons sound good and just go from there. Just keep practicing man!
I want this guitar so bad. I have two epiphone guitars. One electric, and one acoustic. The electric is a beginner and it sucks. I need a more advanced guitar. This is the one.
hey is there any tutorial u used to lower action? i was gona pay 150 to get a premium set up and 50-60 for the basic setup. But i think i might just try it on my own..
Uh I love it. I like the look better than the ebony. When it first came out, it was more expensive. Its the same exact guitar, just a different color. Your choice buddy.

@MoonMaster77 Actually I figured something like that. Didn't meant this one did too. Sonds about the same as any other Epi. Cept for my SD pups.

I agree with you these Epiphones sound great in my opinion. Great impro's by the way. Beautiful guitar.
