To my Croatian friend who at one point was my love too.
this song conjures up so many memories .
I can still see your figure fading away at Zagreb airport many years ago, me thinking I might never see you again and unfortunately , I was right there.
Never have I forgotten you .
Never have I forgotten some of the best moments of my life .
but song is very unusual for croatian landmarks as we don't use so much trumpets in our native music, and guitar playing sounds mexican xD
so all this drove my imagination in South America while it was under Spain - Zorro times , class of piano and cello and native Mexican/Spain violins and trumpets mixing.
We do have good traditon of great piano(maksim mrvica, bruno vhahek) and cello (ana & snježana rucner) players tho :)
In all, it's amazing and unusual piece of art pink has created :)
U Plavu Zoru - In blue dawn uuuuuu..... ( "u" stands for "in" so it would go iiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn xD) tiha noć - Silent night sjene su u bijegu - Shadows escaping ja čujem zvuk - I hear a sound šta bliže zove me - that calls me closer. u plavu zoru - In the blue dawn sa svjetlom, tu - With the (day)light na moja vrata - At my door ti stižeš - you come naći ćeš - You will find praznu postelju moju - My empty bed to vlak nosi me - it's train that takes me daleko - far away. / Cro/
you will never be dissapointed with pink martini, i can assure you that china forbes has the most beautiful voice in all the history of music...it's enchanting and the music is perfect, not to mention they have so many compositions in different languages.
" i can assure you that china forbes has the most beautiful voice in all the history of music."
Sorry minisugababe but thats too big an honour to bestow.
Have you never heard of Liz Frazer from the Cocteau Twins? Check out the album " Victorialand" and go straight to a song called "Oomingmak" as an introduction. She also does the harmonies on the track. Enjoy.

actually on second thoughts start with " How to bring a blush to the snow" !
The song is definitely in Croatian, but can be understood by any of the ex-Yugoslav nations, because their languages are very similar.Lovely song and excellent interpretation.
@22heimatt - Just got back from the PM concert at Town Hall in Manhattan.
Enjoyed immensely; alas, audience = too many un-ignitable New Yorkers.
The best experience - a lady violinist seated right in front of us, not a regular member of the band (entire string section were local musicians who were asked to play with them).
Never in my life have I ever seen anyone so appreciative of his/her good fortune. She was enthralled! And needless to say, fascinating to watch.
FYI - this is definitely not Czechian... We could discuss some other linguistic issues, but this is sang either in Croatian, or Serbian or Bosnian..... But the use of word "vlak" makes it definitely Croatian....... And there is no discussion about it........
Nice try keatingpiers, but not correct. This is amusing me. I will give you a clue: It comes from southern Europe, but not from the far western part of europe, but rather the eastern part.
Something slavic, Croation/Serbian? I'm only figureing that because you said southern eastern Europe, which is basically what yugoslavia translated to.
It is Croatian! Amazingly good pronunciation for someone who is not native speaker. But I am not realistic as I am deeply in love with China Forbes....;-))))) Silent night Shadows are on the run I hear a sound that calls me nearer. In the blue dawn With the daylight At my door you come. You will find My empty bed While the train takes me far away.
i had the chance to listen to that song in live, during their 2006 tour which passed by paris. they were accompanied by a girl playing the cello, from the paris orchestra, they were applaused for more then ten minutes after they were done with that song... amazing, brillant!
Hey, I was in San Antonio and was at the same concert. My friends and I had the best time and walked out of the theater singing and dancing to Brazil! Cheers from Seattle.
I saw Pink Martini in cncert last evening in Adelaide, Australia.
Each individual is brilliant in their own right, and as a band gives their audience a lasting memory & wonderful experience. This piece of music left a lasting memory.
One of my favorite songs by now, really amazing how it is build up. Respect.

doesn't have to be. there are parts of croatia that speak in ekavica, and svetlo can be croatian

It's serbian, actually. The pronunciation of the word "svetlo" is specificly serbian. You're wellcome.

Pure Croatian language! GwiGwi is pretentious ignorant...
Vlak (train) is pure Croatian word. Though this discussion is senseless i had to post a comment...
You're wellcome :-)
