Everyone has a choice. Get health insurance. If they cannot afford it, they are likely wasting money on "wants". They likely have at least 2TVs with cable. A couple vehicles. Perhaps they even throw money at smoking. People do have a choice. They just make bad ones.

Where in the constitution does it give the government the power to handle your health care? Where does it say the government can take someone else's hard earned money and give it to you? Do you think this health care "crisis" is helped by being forced to pay half your money to the government? Do you think that helps people?
you make 100,000 dollars of hard earned money and the government somehow has the right to half of that. So you're left with 50,000. Does that help? By wanting socialized health care you're just crying "Tax me" "Tax me". People are willing to give up freedom, liberty, rights, the constitution, all the things our founding fathers worked so hard for, for what? Fascism? Seriously.
Government pampers the people, gets them weak, and that's how hilter got power. That's how he did it. he took away guns, he took away freedom. He weakened the people by pampering. Is that what you're asking for. People just don't want a free market solution because freedom isn't good. People are asking for free health care for life, but chopping up innocent human beings and throwing them in trashcans like they're nothing "they're not human yet".
You're ready to trust the government to handle this by using force and taking away freedom? They're the ones that hurt everyone in the first place! People aren't educated and think "Hey! Free health care, I'm lazy, that sounds good to me". Wake up people! We keep on letting government nanny us. Nothing is free, let me add that in as well. That "free" health care is hurting someone else to "help" someone else.
Also, of the 45 million uninsured, only 1 million are truly uninsured...plus, of the 45 million, 20% are illegals. So that really doesn't leave much. But just think how small these problems would be if you had double the money if you weren't taxed to poverty! Plus, if we truly had a free market, and we got government out, rates would be better, care would be better. What we have now isn't free market at all. It's over regulated by government.
The first time government got truly involved in the free market, we had the greatest depression in the history of the world. That shows you how good our government is, lol. Sorry for all the posts, but these boxes are too small. Click on my name and see my channel.
Health care isn't a right because we're not born with it. We either buy it or steal it from others. My right to life doesn't entail your obligation to sustain my life, just as my right to free speech doesn't mandate your attention. Nor does my right to bear arms require you to supply me with ammo.
Capitalizing health care would bring costs down and keep it from being overused, bringing costs down further, and encourages responsible, healthy living, driving costs down further still.
We're seeing the same phenomena with health care that we've seen for education and other costs of living: socialism straining the industries, and people blaming it on capitalism.
No one values making choices anymore, they just want everything. Then they end up damaging themselves and billing everyone else.
And then we wonder why everything is so expensive.
how does socialism strain industry? I would really like an explination it is not the invisible hand. The end of capitalism is monopoly and horribly high prices.
The US government only sees walking dollar signs, not human beings. They don't care how many people die, as long as they make more money. I'm sorry for your losses Ryan, nobody should have to go through that.
you asked how it could be bad, havieng universal health care.
in most universal health care systems people on a transplant list may have to wait several years to even be considered. also its harder to get the medicines you need. although the health care system now is unfair to people who dont have acess to it, people who DO are being helped much quicker and better so they are reciving an all out better recovery and treatment.
Ok wait lists are a given but while that person is waiting at least they are allowed to get medication. The people who have healthcare now are paying more for it and are not getting treated quicker as you say. The coverage is getting worse and more expensive. This does not take into account the underinsured or those relying on governement for thier healthcare. Why does this spurious argument work? How can this help everyone if your care is less more expensive and difficient?
*people who DO (have access)* - WHO decides who gets access? Perhaps the guys making the big bucks.. say Pharmaceutical Companies? I don't know this for sure myself, but it certainly is intriguing.. and upsetting all the same.
At times, this country disgusts me. We run off overseas ready to blow people's heads off because a country is oppressing its inhabitants, but refuse to grant rights ourselves. Complete bullshit. Thanks for posting this.
The United States has such a scary healthcare system now, it's almost seems like a proffiting business rather than a public service
If this girl is in a shit scenario right now there's always moving to Canada...in most provinces healthcare is universal and the country will take care of you
If this is really screwing up her whole life she might want to consider it...
Well affording healthcare isn't really something you need to worry about in Canada, you do have to wait a bit long in some specific scenarios to recieve certain treatments because of the amount of people who recieve healthcare, but overall it isn't as stressing as being an American without proper insurance
I'd love to learn a bit more about it. I wonder if it is similar to the socialised medicine in England? I worry about not affording health all the time. Would it be correct to assume a Canadian resident who was being treated for, say Cancer, would have *priority* over someone needing antibiotics for something less severe? I would be interested to learn how this all works. Thanks for your time.
I'm really sorry about 13 of your friends. Thats A LOT... Were you in the ROTC program? My family is military and I don't even think I know THIRTEEN SOLDIERS! Its a sad sad situation out there.
Sorry you got so emotional, but you're right, there is a huge problem going on out there. I havent yet seen the film sicko, but I heard it will nauseate even the strongest of persons.
Freedom isn't safe and it isn't comfortable. If you want the Government to hold your hand through all your troubles then you are going to have to give up RIGHTs.

Canadian health care isn't quite as peachy as American's think. I have some friends in different provinces and I hear horror stories from them too.

What is your solution for fighting this problem?
