  • Freedom isn't safe and it isn't comfortable. If you want the Government to hold your hand through all your troubles then you are going to have to give up RIGHTs.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

    Ben F.

Also, you are confusing the right to life with getting sick. We don;t have the right to be kept alive if our bodies fail us. We all die sometime.

  • Do you think the Government is going to be more responsible with giving health care out to its citizens? The government will ration out health care and run it like a business. Healthcare is not a right... because I will have to pay for your health care, but I do have a right to my own income and I will be damned if 50% of my paycheck will taken away because someone has a cold or isn't smart enough to get a job that has insurance. Medicare is FROM the Government. Take care of yourself.

  • "she's gonna lose her health insurance"

This probably woulden't be a problem if we set up large health savings accounts

  • healthcare is NOT a right. rights are rooted in property. Healthcare "rights" are "rights" to OTHER people's property.

of course, that's not, in any way, a right. Rights are rooted in self-ownership.

  • " kill all hippies" eric cartman

    =D

  • Dude...are you gay?

  • health care is NOT a right. if someone goes through their educational life and does NOTHING gets F's all the time and doesn't go to college. then they cant get a good job our pay for heath coverage because of the position they put on themselfs. then you want the hardworking A student to PAY FOR HIS? (through taxes) thats unfair. there are some exceptions but universial heath care is wrong and doesn't work. as a canadian. they HATE IT!!! messege back with a response

  • I feel bad for you Americans! In Canada Free Health care is a right to its citizens and a responsibilty of our federal government. It is time that your government listens to the people and if you are so divided on the issue have a referendum on it.

  • this guy needs some help fuck sakes emo/gay

  • Two points one duh I'm gay.

    Two I am not emo.

    That is all.

  • why would you say that?

  • It is a privilege. Society has a moral obligation to help those who cannot afford needed health care. That is NOT the same thing as a right.

"I think we have a choice. And we need to make that choice."

Everyone has a choice. Get health insurance. If they cannot afford it, they are likely wasting money on "wants". They likely have at least 2TVs with cable. A couple vehicles. Perhaps they even throw money at smoking. People do have a choice. They just make bad ones.

  • who is meant to pay for the drugs? i say people like you who want to save all these people make your own organization that pays for her medication, then donate all your money to it.

i believe people have a right to health care to a certain extent, the law should be all people under 18 are entitled to free health care in all areas. adults should have a right to any emergency treatment, any ongoing treatments you cover.

i live in Australia, we have all free healthcare... its bad, trust me

  • damn man! whats wrong with your head? its huge@@

  • your a dumb ass

  • Quit auto refreshing your videos, it's annoying.

  • i feel bad...i really do, but at the same time it's not fair to compare our Healthcare situation with people dying over seas...thats what i'm assuming you mean by your 13 friends coming home in caskets. The thing about healthcare is that doctors get paid 6 figure salaries, and the workers in the US don't wanna pay for doctors to service strangers if they can't even get medical insurance themselves! Is it right that some fulltime workers can't afford insurance, but low to no income get govt. ins?

  • I mean all the soldiers who come home with ptsd who do not get treatment those who fought for our freedoms who are not getting the car they need now. I'm talking about the greater good not what is fair if the world was fair the world would be a far calmer then it is today. What is fair for the great number is less fair for the small number it is our decision to ask what is moral and leaving out healthcare is not moral.

  • This is about freedom or fascism. This is classic American thinking. I want it, I get it. And I don't care who I hurt or what I lose, but I get it. I don't see the side affects...FASCISM! We can solve our problems using a free market solution. Not more government to tax us to poverty. Governments breaks your legs, gives you crutches and takes credit for you walking again...and they hurt someone else to help you ;)It's cycle. lol. FREE MARKET! RON PAUL!!

  • Wonderful video. The subject is SUCH a tough one. It really is. I can rack my brain about this all day and I do not think that there would be a solid solution. The only thing I can suppose is that a state-level (state only) insurance would be cheaper, more personal, more plausible? Fuck it. I don't know. I do sincerely hope you don't mind me responding with a video somewhat along the same lines.

  • wow ur so beautiful ... im jacking off to this video yea!!!!

  • take a picture and tell me what it smells like.

  • lol

  • someone agrees with me.

  • wow you're a faggot dude, shut the fuck up, nobody likes you. what ethic are you? viet, cause you do look like it and you disgracing all viets if you are, get a life and stop coding a website.

  • i don't think the government has a right to seize my money to pay for your needs.. i earned my money. if i want to give to charity, that's all well and good.

  • The biggest problem with healthcare in the US is that the insurance companies cherry pick their customers and then if they need health care for some condition, there are trained hit men whose sole purpose in life is to save the insurance company money by any means possible. The doctors have to have personnel on hand to try to fight these agents.

The whole thing will get even worse as technology allows the insurance companies to gauge risk based on DNA samples. Some people will be uninsurable.

  • ok this topic is gay. why the hell should we give free universal healthcare to everyone when we cant tell who the fuck they are and if they realy cant afford it. its just stupid. if you want free healthcare move to a more socialist country, and fuck out of the US

  • Why they sure should.

  • I'll cut you some slack since you're just a kid.

    Define "Right".

Rights are not things. This is so simple. Read "The Law" (Bastiat), it's short and worth the effort.

Life. Liberty. Property. That's the list. Those are yours and mine and can not be taken by force or fraud. Life because it is a gift from (insert favorite word for creator). Liberty because life is meaningless without it. Property because you spend your life and liberty to get it.

Grow up. Do the math. Peace.

  • There are such things as "free clinics" where people who can't afford the medication they need can get it at no cost to them. These are in most major cities in the US.

Pushing nationalized health care for the needs of a select few is a terrible idea. Under nationalized medicine you will have less choice, lower quality services, and will end up paying in taxes what you would otherwise pay for as insurance.

  • Actually, some absurd percentage. . . I believe it is 80 per cent of your premium goes to paperwork. Canadas system and others pay around 12 per cent for paperwork. Of course, with a government system you may get more fraud. But with the former head of United health Care paying himself 10.5 BILLION, it's hard to see if the fraud would be worse.

My sisters husband was stricken with sclerosis (a non drinker!). The insurance company drove her rates up & finally went out of business! True story.

  • It makes me sick too. I responded to Gina. I fight a similar battle. A lot of us do. Maybe if there wasn't such a high price on developing Pharmaceuticals the Health care system might be different. I don't really know. My health care recently ended because I got a new job that paid me an extra $2 and hour. I asked the man at Medicaid what exactly was the income cutoff level for coverage I needed. He said $725 a month. (Continued)

  • (Cont...) I asked if he was kidding, because that meant I would have to have a job making $169 weekly, or less! I then asked him if he suggested I quit my low paying job in order to qualify for full coverage, as it was obvious I was making way too much money for them to pay for my medicines, etc. I suggested that they would rather help people who cannot (or even will no do a thing to help themselves. He didn't know what to say to that.

  • JP here: You probably couldn't tell while we were in San Francisco (mostly 'cause we didn't talk, that's my bad) but I am an OIF vet. Yes, I saw the wounded. Yes, I watched the caskets pass through while protesters gathered outside the funeral. And yes, I know very well that a collection of our vets are not getting treated right. Myself and some others have been extremely fortunate. But I find it odd how we vets have to make dozens of organizations just to get a word to the DVA.

  • JP again: Even moreso...I'm a nurse. I advocate for patients on a day to day basis, regardless - it's my job to give them health to the best of my professional ability. And basically, so much red tape here and there slows it down, borders that shouldn't be there. So yeah, I'm pissed off too.

  • Thank you for that response!

  • the way you talk like an idiot makes it seem like a joke guess you have to have a good heart to make it though peace!

  • im 13 years old and i already know a whole lot about this stuff (I research)

through this video you have earned my greatest respect of anyone on YouTube

    Thank You.

  • Hooray for younguns paying attention to things that matter!

  • thank you

  • you eat too much you get fat and you worry you get sick that why you talk about heath care too much.

  • owned.

  • you are a dumbass vinhlieu12345

you wil understand when you are in an accident and need to pay.

  • Where in the constitution does it give the government the power to handle your health care? Where does it say the government can take someone else's hard earned money and give it to you? Do you think this health care "crisis" is helped by being forced to pay half your money to the government? Do you think that helps people?

  • (cont)

you make 100,000 dollars of hard earned money and the government somehow has the right to half of that. So you're left with 50,000. Does that help? By wanting socialized health care you're just crying "Tax me" "Tax me". People are willing to give up freedom, liberty, rights, the constitution, all the things our founding fathers worked so hard for, for what? Fascism? Seriously.

  • (cont)2

Government pampers the people, gets them weak, and that's how hilter got power. That's how he did it. he took away guns, he took away freedom. He weakened the people by pampering. Is that what you're asking for. People just don't want a free market solution because freedom isn't good. People are asking for free health care for life, but chopping up innocent human beings and throwing them in trashcans like they're nothing "they're not human yet".

  • (cont)3

You're ready to trust the government to handle this by using force and taking away freedom? They're the ones that hurt everyone in the first place! People aren't educated and think "Hey! Free health care, I'm lazy, that sounds good to me". Wake up people! We keep on letting government nanny us. Nothing is free, let me add that in as well. That "free" health care is hurting someone else to "help" someone else.

  • (cont)4

Also, of the 45 million uninsured, only 1 million are truly uninsured...plus, of the 45 million, 20% are illegals. So that really doesn't leave much. But just think how small these problems would be if you had double the money if you weren't taxed to poverty! Plus, if we truly had a free market, and we got government out, rates would be better, care would be better. What we have now isn't free market at all. It's over regulated by government.

  • (cont)5

The first time government got truly involved in the free market, we had the greatest depression in the history of the world. That shows you how good our government is, lol. Sorry for all the posts, but these boxes are too small. Click on my name and see my channel.

  • Even the facists had healthcare.

  • omg so true

i just feel like america is for economy not much the circomstances of its ignorance...

  • Health care isn't a right because we're not born with it. We either buy it or steal it from others. My right to life doesn't entail your obligation to sustain my life, just as my right to free speech doesn't mandate your attention. Nor does my right to bear arms require you to supply me with ammo.

Capitalizing health care would bring costs down and keep it from being overused, bringing costs down further, and encourages responsible, healthy living, driving costs down further still.

  • Question, when did you evern have a cheaper pharmacy bill in the last 10 years?

  • Cheaper than what?

We're seeing the same phenomena with health care that we've seen for education and other costs of living: socialism straining the industries, and people blaming it on capitalism.

No one values making choices anymore, they just want everything. Then they end up damaging themselves and billing everyone else.

And then we wonder why everything is so expensive.

  • how does socialism strain industry? I would really like an explination it is not the invisible hand. The end of capitalism is monopoly and horribly high prices.

  • Damn straight!

I am a strong beliver in socialized medicine

  • The US government only sees walking dollar signs, not human beings. They don't care how many people die, as long as they make more money. I'm sorry for your losses Ryan, nobody should have to go through that.

  • well put, but how? checking michael moore's "sicko"

  • you asked how it could be bad, havieng universal health care.

in most universal health care systems people on a transplant list may have to wait several years to even be considered. also its harder to get the medicines you need. although the health care system now is unfair to people who dont have acess to it, people who DO are being helped much quicker and better so they are reciving an all out better recovery and treatment.

  • Ok wait lists are a given but while that person is waiting at least they are allowed to get medication. The people who have healthcare now are paying more for it and are not getting treated quicker as you say. The coverage is getting worse and more expensive. This does not take into account the underinsured or those relying on governement for thier healthcare. Why does this spurious argument work? How can this help everyone if your care is less more expensive and difficient?

  • *people who DO (have access)* - WHO decides who gets access? Perhaps the guys making the big bucks.. say Pharmaceutical Companies? I don't know this for sure myself, but it certainly is intriguing.. and upsetting all the same.

  • At times, this country disgusts me. We run off overseas ready to blow people's heads off because a country is oppressing its inhabitants, but refuse to grant rights ourselves. Complete bullshit. Thanks for posting this.

  • The United States has such a scary healthcare system now, it's almost seems like a proffiting business rather than a public service

If this girl is in a shit scenario right now there's always moving to Canada...in most provinces healthcare is universal and the country will take care of you

If this is really screwing up her whole life she might want to consider it...

  • Canadian health care isn't quite as peachy as American's think. I have some friends in different provinces and I hear horror stories from them too.

  • Well affording healthcare isn't really something you need to worry about in Canada, you do have to wait a bit long in some specific scenarios to recieve certain treatments because of the amount of people who recieve healthcare, but overall it isn't as stressing as being an American without proper insurance

  • I'd love to learn a bit more about it. I wonder if it is similar to the socialised medicine in England? I worry about not affording health all the time. Would it be correct to assume a Canadian resident who was being treated for, say Cancer, would have *priority* over someone needing antibiotics for something less severe? I would be interested to learn how this all works. Thanks for your time.

  • :( :( sorry bro :( :(

  • I'm really sorry about 13 of your friends. Thats A LOT... Were you in the ROTC program? My family is military and I don't even think I know THIRTEEN SOLDIERS! Its a sad sad situation out there.

Sorry you got so emotional, but you're right, there is a huge problem going on out there. I havent yet seen the film sicko, but I heard it will nauseate even the strongest of persons.

What is your solution for fighting this problem?

    -TonyaTko

  • Yeah ROTC military to pay for Uni.

  • We get free health care maybe we live in the land of the free :P

  • I always had insurances from my parents works.. and not my own

  • good job speaking out Ryan <3 good cause
