    Regarding "bloat": I didn't experience "bloat", but did experience joint swelling when I did the manufacturer recomended "loading phase". I would wake up in the morning and barely be able to close my hands into a fist. This would go away within 10-15 minutes after getting up. The problem went away once I scaled back my CM intake to half the recommended dose. The muscles retained water, but my joints seemed to have retained water as well when taking excessive ammounts of CM.

  • I have tried both Kre-alkalyn and CM they both do increase strength and muscular endurance however I have also noticed it does cause a lot of water retention within the face and it doesnt make you look as lean or as athletic as before. Is there any creatine product that doesnt do this? People should take a facial pic before and whilst taking creatine to see if the water retention affects you

  • i usually take cheapest form of creatine - mono hydrate , i use to take 10 g everyday for loading and 5 g for maintenance, many times i feel bloat in my stomach when i have creatine with food , so i prefer to take creatine post workout or post cardio which prevents much of bloat in my personal experience

  • it definently bloats your face makes it fuller I havent taken creatine in about 8 years, but when you stop taking it for about 2 weeks people will notice to the point of making coments about your face being smaller

    I know David. He's a smart guy, but I can only assume he made those comments prior to several studies showing CEE converts to creatinine and is (to use a science term) complete crap. Again, see my web site for info :)

  • @willbrink Oh you're absolutely correct about CEE and the "crap and "inferior" part.. The comment was to drive home the fact that creatine monohydrate and it's bloating affect, can only and for the most part rarely be felt in the stomach because of it's less soluble nature in water and/or whatever you decide to down it with. Your videos on creatine are very informative and truth based, back by science. It's a commonly misconcieved subject, clouded by so many myths.

  • @DarkFortresses you will bloat. I came off it after a week. I stay away from creatine but didn't notice the new protein powder I switched too had creatine and then after a week...I bloated and checked the label there was creatine. I am buying straight whey low carb no creatine. I am checking the label this time. And i am in south beach for the summer. I must retain definition.

  • I think what some guys mean by bloat is their muscles take up a lot of water so they go from rock hard to a bit squoosy. In terms of gut bloating or water retention type bloating, I've certainly never encountered it.

    Did you actually watch the vid? There is no bloat. Two, CEE is inferior to CM, and shown to be inferior via several studies at this point. Read my article "The Creatine Graveyard" on the BrinkZone for more details on that, and watch the other vids here in the creatine series.

    Yes, some benefits are lost on stopping. Easy cure, don't stop. If you stop brushing your teeth, gonna get cavities, is that a reason to not start brushing your teeth? As creatine has many potential health benefits (see other vids and my articles on BrinkZone) and there's no particular reason to stop, problem solved. If you stop exercising you lose many of the benefits, which is not a reason to never start, and so forth. Good luck!

  • @abrut122 you gain strength,your muscle repair faster,muscles growth is more when you use it. But, when you stop you basiclly loose all that you gain using creatine like if you bench press 200 while on creatine you wont be able to lift it so you take like 15 pounds off to lift.

  • hey will- I like your no BS, no nonsense style. I have one question though. If I wanted to take Creatine Monohydrate, with the average daily dosage around 5g if I'm not mistaken, could I take let's say 2 or 3g instead of 5g per day? I've heard that in order for creatine to work, you need to let it 'saturate' into your muscles, which is why some people take the week to do the loading phase. Also, does creatine monohydrate give you soft, fleshy muscles, or are they hard and strong? Thanks a lot

  • Creatine stored in the stomache causing bloating... lol. And the stomache isn't filled with bile and acids and there's this pocket where stuff can hide for months causing your stomache to bloat...

  • It sucks I can't use creatine since it retains water....even though it's in the right places, I need to make weight for boxing and creatine really gave me that edge but gained about 3 lbs average.... I'm trying to find creatine that doesn't make u retain water what so ever but I don't think it exists :/ thanks will for the info

    If the creatine is not making you retain water, it's not working period. That's what creatine does, claims to the contrary by makers of supposed "no bloat" versions are selling pseudo science and or don't understand the mechanisms of creatine.

  • @willbrink Hey, on web md under the side effects tab for creatine monohydrate they say this, "(There is concern that creatine might cause irregular heartbeat in some people. But more information is needed to know if creatine can cause this problem.)" Is there any truth to that statement at all? I get heart palpitations and was interested in trying out creatine monohydrate but after reading that im a little worried.

  • I'm taking the purple capsules (krealkyln something). I'm getting bad stomach bloat but do hv hiatal hernia and take prevacid. Anyway to minimize? Otherwise very good strength and muscle gain from creatine.

    Use monohydrate, make sure it's fully dissolved (see other vids here on that issue) and try that. Usually cures all stomach issues.

  • I look pregnant now at 9 percent bodyfat and my abs stick out like crazy and I look full. It's so weird its like I have a muscle gut ahha crazy shit.

  • I have been told lots of things about it. 90% of the people tell me that once u quit taking it you will hold on to the water which gives you the bloat because it is not being drawn to ur muscles like when u were taking it. So they say if u quit u get fat.... So if some one can tell me if this is true or false..

    Used creatine in 6-week cycles from time to time over the past 5 years and never got a bloat.

    Just nice, full muscles and more strength in the gym.

    As long as it's fully dissolved (see other vids) you don't require additional water beyond normal intakes, which you factor by activity levels, temps, etc.

  • I remember getting a bloat in my gut from using celltech about 10 years ago, you would think i learned my lesson but no i tried it again almost 3 years ago and again got the gut. After reading your ebook is when i learned of all the gimmicks and crap/fillers that is in things like celltech. But now I make sure that my creatine or anything that needs to be dissolved is dissolved before taking it.

  • i took about for 2 months after ny workout it increases my weight frm 71 to 74 kg.. bt nw as i am taking it during my work out frm 2 months showing no extra gain in weight...
