@HardWarUK It's nothing to be amazed of. With good luck you can find very good stuff even at the beginning. I've once found Elven Saber from Privateer's Hold
I wish I had known about this game years ago. I was only 5 years old when this game was released. I didn't pay much mind to the computer back then. I cared more about hot wheels, and micro machines. But years later when I played oblivion a new chapter in my life began to unfold. I began to have a affinity for rpgs like this, I also like the old Fallout games. Thats my life story where is yours?
Redguard was able to give more of a flavour of Tamriel and Elder Scrolls because it took a much closer look at a smaller area and populated with a smaller group of deeper characters. It also came with the only guide to Tamriel ever printed by Bethesda!
Elder Scrolls II Daggerfall is now free, to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Elder Scrolls series. It joins Arena, the first Elder Scrolls game, which celebrated it 10th anniversary 5 years ago. So go to Bethesda's site and download Daggerfall (182mb) and Arena (8mb) and see how shallow modern roleplaying is! :)
But why not connect a controller? Sticking to mouse and keyboard is like sticking with the abacus. Surely there's a way to use a controller. I'm gonna look for a second opinion, a less pompous one.
It's a 15 year old game for goodness sake! It's only on PC and PC used mouse and keyboard and joystick for 12 of those 15 years. So I would say you are the pompous one using the word 'abacus' - showing you to be a console fanboy really; and expecting a controller to work on a PC game you know is 15 years old is the opitimy of pompous!!
Okay I see your point about the age of the game. I guess they can't upgrade like that so easily. But about "pompous" I was referring to when you said "It's a PC game FOR PC GAMERS". That's pompous. You're basically saying "Non-PC gamers get the hell out" In fact you actually said that more explicitly this time around. And my remark about the abacus was a comment I used to counter your pompous remark so it makes no sense to throw it back to me.
A console controller is not an upgrade from a mouse and keyboard. A console controller is a complete DOWNGRADE. There are 104 keys on a keyboard and a mouse offers the ability to click anywhere on the screen. Hence the reason why all console games have dumbed down UIs.
What about when you have to input any kind of text on a console and you have to use that stupid menu? Give me a keyboard any day.
I have seen too many games ruined by dumbed-down huge-text ultra simplified UIs that look like they were designed for simpletons because of console crossovers (Prime example: Oblivion) to have any love for controllers over the good old mouse and keyboard.
Okay, the text thing is a good point. But although text is easier on a keyboard, your hands will cramp using a keyboard. You win some, you lose some. And Oblivion is one of the most dumbed-down games ever made.
But most of its oversimplifications stem from Bethesda's wanting everyone(including simpletons) to get involved, and NOT from an inferior control apparatus.
It's wasn't the controller that couldn't handle the Elder Scrolls, it was the general public.
FYI, there is a keyboard available for the Xbox controller, Oblivion is just as good as it is on pc, it still has every function, all the controls that the keyboard & mouse does. There's more skill involved in rotating an analogue and actually AIMING, which takes more judgement than simply wiggling a mouse around clicking on your enemies...
Yeah, but the PC wouldn't be popular WHATSOEVER if every game that came out used 104 keys... who wants to sit and go through such a steep learning curve to learn so many buttons and what they all do everytime they buy a game. you could say the same for a mouse though, as you free look around with a mouse, nobody could snap their neck around at the speed you would in a computer game, rotation is more realistic. they both have their pros and cons but your statement was retarded
I do apologise sire, but it is too late to take back my profanity. Hope that helped, if not, i accept my fate of eternal torture in the next life from a big hairy guy with an afro fittingly named "Jerome". I will struggle none PFFFFFFFFFFFFT (sorry just saw something hilarious on jeremy kyle).. want me to tell you a joke? The Argonion says to the Nord.. "where are we going Pedro?" The Nord responds "I dunno, im.. -Oblivious-"
it IS 3d... the tree at the beginning is made out of polygons. i have the game and i can verify that it's a 3d polygonal shape textured like a tree. the maze is also tridimentional on the walls but the lamps, skulls and characters are 2d sprites
Reminds me of Oblivion, cruder of course.

I like the game but what i don't like is the combat system. I find it hard to even hit an enemy

@BoneBaron maybe cause it's turn based combat system?

I think this is the best game of them all, next to Morrowind... Oblivion was pretty, but I like the gameplay of this game much more than the others.
Best elder scroll games (main ones)
1. Daggerfall
2.Morrowind
3.Oblivion
4.Arena
5. The side versions
narufansupear 2 years ago
I would go with:
1. Morrowind
2. Daggerfall
3. Oblivion
4. Redguard
5 Arena
6. Battlespire
I own them all, so don't flame me for guessing!
HardWarUK 2 years ago
Honestly I didn't like Reguard at all :/ But nice list

It's a PC game for PC gamers, before the world went 'multiformat', therefore keyboard and mouse only.

Using a controller instead of a keyboard makes input easier and more comfortable, NOT simpler.
"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but never simpler."
- Einstein
EXAMPLE: the decimal system (using only ten symbols to represent, without ANY "dumbing down" of number sense, ALL real numbers)
So I recommend you get an "upgrade" on your remote. Let it have as many buttons as there are channels.
You're right about the mouse, but not about what i was addressing - the keyboard.

Except for one thing, on the console, to make up for the lack of control, it's aim assisted, so it's a baby version.
