if the background is complete, all you need is put the layer on top of the girl, then use a mask to punch a hole in it so that the girl is visible... it's non destructive and much quicker to do.

i would have just zoomed in without the red layer because then you see more what its going to look like when its finished.

well i personally think its a waste of time to the solid color layer i would have only used the zoom tool combined with the invert tool at most another layer is uneeded here in my opinion
