Standing by the Sea is one of the best songs in Zen Arcade along with Chartered Trips. The half screamed half sung vocals in both those songs are amazing.
I just recieved Black Flag "Live '84" and its sequel "Who's Got the 10½" I'm considering buying Stiff Little Fingers "Nobody's Heroes" next. If you've never heard SLF before, shame on you.
Three more suggestions. The Adolescents. Get their first record, self-titled, often called the 'blue albun'. Then, get TSOL's first release, the e.p., also self titled, and then TSOL "Dance With Me". Don't be put off by the last title!
<just kidding>You have it on vinyl, show off. Of course, true record snobs have all vinyl collections. I have a long way to go before my album collection can reach your collection's level of pretentiousness. Though, when I was 11 I bought two smash Mouth albums and NOW That's What I Call Music compilation; I hope you won't hold that against me</just kidding>
Forgot to mention, that sometime this week I'll be the proud owner of Circle Jerk's "Group Sex" as well as Stiff Little Finger's "Inflammable Material"
So far I got Double Nickels, Post-Mersh 1 & 2; Jamboree by Beat Happening, Zen Arcade Descendents' Two Things at Once, Minor Threat Complete Discography; Damaged, First Four Years, Everything Went Black; Bad Brains s/t, Rock for Light; Weezer's Blue Album, and some Sublime CDs. With your suggestions my collection shall grow.
I couldn't believe I was able to find Double Nickels in stores(FYE). Around last Memorial Day, I finally bought Zen Arcade(along with a Sublime album). The Spring and Summer of 2006 changed my life musically.
Outtakes from Metal circus. Never even heard the final cut. Zen Arcade is the only album their's I own. Other than that I've heard the likes of Makes No Sense At All and Don't Wanna Know if You're Lonely. The only other HD album I've seen in stores is Candle Apple Grey. I wish I could get a hold of their other records without having to special order them.
I'd recommend Metal Circus, New Day Rising and Everything Falls Apart and more to get your collection started. They're pretty easy to find online. Going by your musical tastes, more Husker for you is recommended!

I searched for Husker Du (I tried with and without umlauts) to no avail. Napster doesn't have them either. He must mean he listened to the CD on it.

Just bought <i>Murmur</i> about four weeks ago. I'm considering purchasing </i>Velvet Underground & Nico</i> and VU's self-titled third album next.

what would the Metal Circus ep looked like if it had been an lp? they seem to have had enough stuff to go full length.
sgtnull 4 years ago
It was actually ment to be released as a 11-track LP.

I just bought "Entertainment" by gang of Four.
(YouTube, would it fucking kill you to allow users to edit their posts instead of having to post several consecutive posts just to fix minor errors)

Nice score...it's a great album. I got it on vinyl with their next album Solid Gold for 50 cents when I worked at a record store.

"check out saccharine trust, saint vitus, and HR"
When my brother had Napster, I downloaded Pagaicons by Saccharine Trust." Though, i never dug any deeper into
their catalog. The only way I can describe Saccharine Trust's sound is "acid punk". It's somewhat of across between punk and psychadelia.

Wait! I forgot that I also have Wire's pink Flag. That's all I got in my pretentious record collection. Haha.
(If YouTube would just enable users to edit their posts and raise the character limit I wouldn't have to make three posts in a row)
