Thanks. It is not a muzzle strap, it is a Halti, which is a type of head collar. The dogs still have full use of their mouths, but you have more control of the dog than with a regular collar. A regular collar is around their neck...the strongest part of the dog. When you control the nose, you control the strongest part of the dog, the neck, with less physical strength. It also allows you to get the dogs attention more directly, but angling the head up to look at you.
You hv extremely beautiful Rotty's. We will be purchasing one soon and would love to have one like yours....where did you get these gorgeous dogs? Do you breed them?
getting my 3 weeks german rottie in 3 weeks ...any advice out there guys? for the first days and what not? and btw got it from a great breeder in NC..
Don't encourage any behaviour you wouldn't want to see in a full grown adult dog. Hopefully the breeder will send you some do's & don'ts to help you transition your puppy. Congratulations & good luck. :D
@imadoggielover I would suggest that you and the rest of the family get together and insist that the owner of this dog get some training. Without it, you have an accident waiting to happen. This dog has no manners and needs to learn respect. Your tone of voice and body language...how firm and in charge you behave, really does send a message to the dog that you are not his toy. Sound like he could also use more exercise. Good luck.
Lovely rottie above. I often find it amusing with the labels of king, american, and size differences. Lord Romeo for 1908, Lord von der Tuck 1914, Arko 1918 and Astro 1971, were not "large" german rotties. The more foundation stock appears to be slender and lanky looking. It apperars the AKC got involved and bred out the standard german rottie styles wanting large dogs
could you help me with something? i'm looking into owning a rottweiler someday but i'd like the tallest and biggest there is. i understand one type is shorter and more stocky. ben is a nice size regardless, so which category does he fall under?
The German Rottweiler is the biggest Rottweiler if you look into CKC and AKC the bigger the Rottweiler more health issues. German Rottweilers are a lot bigger than the American, The American is slender and smaller. Stay away from back Yard breeders and get one from a reg. Kennel. its worth every penny knowing what temperament and the genetic is important if you want a long healthy lasting companion inbox me for more info.
@Agelesslegend23 i m pretty sure you got it mixed up german rotties are not big they are more stocky.short legged.idk where you read that from.butthe americans are more leggy & leaner then the german version.
@getchapull336100 by the way that is a German Rottweiler she was throwing the bottle for. The German is the biggest you can get there are NO SUCH THING as King Rottweilers and KING Rottweilers are only back yardbred. from ppl breeding massive Rottweilers. those live only 6 years IF LUCKY Both mine are reg. This one looks like a perfect Rottweiler, He looks like the standard size which is good. Bigger doesnt mean better the German Rott is suppose to be medium-large with a very stocky frame.
The taller & bigger the rottweiler, the higher the risk of very serious joint/health issues. If you're looking for a large Rottweiler, look into 'Roman' Rottweilers. There are some registered professional kennels in the U.S. breeding these type. They are attempting to return to the more Roman style of dog. Originally, Rottweiler's were Roman legion droving dogs, that were more Mastiff like, before they ended up in Rottweil Germany. Ben is a solidly built German Bred dog.
I wouldn't like to sit on a the cold wet ground, so I never ask my dog to

Ben is a gorgeous looking rotty! Question though, why do you have a muzzle strap on both dogs? Not judging, just curious.
