The Melodyne interface is good but the results for solo voice are terrible. It shaves off high frequencies, strips away the natural harmonics, and often creates metallic artefacts, even without doing any editing!! I recorded a nice sounding breathy vocal, loaded it into Melodyne, and with no editing saved it as a 32-bit file, and it was truly awful. If you want your voice to have no fidelity then use Melodyne, but if you have higher standards look elsewhere. I'm still looking.
I just bought the joint, Melodyne Editor. It totally improved your vocal performance on that track. It'll come in real handy when i can't get a singer present for a track.
hello dowjones. thanks for answer my question. What I really would like to know is:
Imagina that i'm singing naturaly and than there comes a high note for example in falsetto. can I sing that note one octave down to feel more confortable and than puch that note all the way up (1 octave higher) and it will sound natural? or it will sound fake? I would like to talk wit you abou this and other questions I would like to make. Can we message each other in private?
@andrejoaosf no problem man my email address is pressplay1001@aol.com but to answer your question if you go up one octave it would sound good it wont sound as natural as if you would have sung it yourself but it would do a good job imitating that octave. if you put a little effects on it it would sound better, just keep in mind it wouldnt sound as natural though. thanks man looking forward to hearing from you.
@hughisonfire i know autotune have a graph mode now but when i made this video over a year ago it didnt, i now have every version of autotune i think its an excellent program its your preference i am more comfortable with melodyne and i think its much easier to use. thanks for your input and for watching my video
@CypriotVibez08 the industry is full of people making money off of people like you and i that appreciate good singing and music, im not mad at them how ever you make your money and your not hurting anyone i cant be mad at you. my mission is to make everyone aware of the tricks that are used in the studios. thanks for your input and for watching my video
@andrejoaosf yes you can correct the pitch of a note that the great and unique thing about the software and its technology. if your looking to do that then this program is excellent and the t-pain effect is not bad if you use a little it gives it a different feel, some of your favorite songs may have that effect but its so light you may not even notice it. thanks for your input and for watching this video
Can u use it to make great singers sound like crap? Melodyne should be illegal man! This is comparable to a transsexual pretending to be a woman to a hetero male. It just seems so wrong :-). Especially when you find out. Pretty amazing technology. have you tried applying it to instruments yet?
@fuzonacid yes i have applied it to instrument if your playing live say a guitar you can change the pitch on your recording, pretty cool for instruments and vocals. if you use it to tune vocals and give it certain effects then its use will complement your recording. thanks for your input
@ElegyForTheMasses i think the monitors are good but not great if i would have known better i would not have bought these particular monitors they are very bass heavy and are hard to get accurate mixes out of the monitors. thanks for your input and for watching my video
@DOWJONES33 Yeah, I did notice I have to compensate for bass and double check with headphones, but I got them used for only $50 for the pair. They do make great replacement computer speakers though. Do you prefer Melodyne over autotune for subtle pitch correction?
@hitzville81 nah thats the first time i heard that i wish i was related to flo my studio would look much better than that lol, though i changed my studio and im going to do a video just showing the changes i made to my studio. thanks for your input and for watching my video
@jaymegutierrez yea i fixed my table since then but it really was annoying. man cant get nothin pass you out of all the comments i received you were the only one who commented on my speaker set up lol.. you must be a producer or somethin thanks for the comment
@jaymegutierrez sorry it took me so long but yea your right the monitors are annoying and i was not getting accurate sound out of the monitors but i re constructed my studio and soon i will make a video show people my new studio and im doing it all because of you, thanks you have inspired me to make this next video lol. thanks for your input and for watching my video
@tommymartini34 I like the song too when i recorded the track my main objective was to make something quick so i could try the program out with vocals so i did that track in like 5 minutes. But after listening to it and other people telling me the same thing i might have to go back to it and tighten it up a little and write to it. the vocals were all freestyled i made them up as i recorded for the testing of the program. thanks for the feed back when i rerecord it i'll send to you for opinion.
Cool guy. I would like to say that you don't have to use the pitch-correction effect 100% on the whole score, just add it where you need it and you can alter the amount of correction.

Hi there.. thank you so much for posting.. I was very curious about this program..
So in order to get it working with Cubase did you have to purchase:
Melodyne Studio instead of Melodyne Editor?
thanks so much

it would be good for you to show what melodyne can do when its used more subtly rather than just removing all natural vibrato and things like that.
