  • @lee52844 His name is Marc Bolan.

  • just heard this on the radio and had to look it up

  • Back when every band had a conga player. That had to be the sweetest gig in a cool band...even better than the tambourine!! You could stash drinks behind the congas and scope out chicks from the stage...SWEET!!

  • Super Band, Beatles dagegen kleine Blechwichte!!

  • How much did early Paul Stanley wanna be him?

  • Awesome Dude!! Bang A Gong =)

  • @slotstikskimboards there probably were fat girls in the audience but they were made to dance in the darkened corners of the studio while the camera checked out all the slim girls who looked good in hot pants and mini skirts. Extra props for the black girl dancing behind the band.

  • @katymagnets to all those hating on fat girls, I grew up in the 90's and damn I like something I can hug on to, and push, and not worry about breaking.

  • take me!

  • dirty sweet little tune and i love it...

  • best song from the year I was born ..... Makes the hair on the back of neck stand on end. Sheer quality

  • gotta love those guys dancing behind Elton John at 2:03

  • over time, cool music comes back into style but let's hope the bass player's clothes don't

  • That smile is to die for , just melts your heart

  • =) tee-hee.. one of my first records. thank you :) x x x Dirty-sweet-I'm-your-girl

  • Dang, both Elton & Marc on the same stage, 70's chicks aplenty, what a great clip,

    Thanks for posting!

  • Dig the girl with the bouncy red hair. RIP Marc Bolan, 34 years gone today and still missed.

  • classic with the big e on boards

  • I've never liked the look of glam-rock, but there were some seriously badass tunes in there.

Of course, this video makes it easy to think that Elton John started as a member of T. Rex, which was not the case, he's "only" guesting here.

  • Something's very fishy about this video. It's clearly not from 2008 as the poster states (Marc Bolan had been dead for about 30 years in 2008... and that is clearly him fronting the group), and it also appears as though the original sound had been swapped for a studio version of Get It On.

  • @MattRamsayMoore top of the pops barely ever recorded audio live apart from singing. watch nirvana's smells like teen spirit on totp and youll see what i mean

  • Merci!

  • wow haven't heard this in years.i was 8 in 1971 i think that's when this came out??

  • Never did hear the piano. Must be lip syncing to the record.

  • @coupaydeville I was thinking the same thing. But he says Yeah @1:56 which is definitely not on the album version. But it DOES sound like a studio performance and not "live" at all.

  • the one best video number 1 t rex 4 ever

  • Marc was the best.

  • best of the 70s...for a short time...t rex could do do no wrong....one of their great tracks..

  • WAAAAAAY more talented and good looking than Liam and Noel Gallagher!!

  • It's a while ago Elton John still has his own hair not someone elses.

  • 当時はグラムロックと言っていた!ビジュアルロックの走りだ!マークボランの衣装に憧れたもんです!!なんとエルトンジョンと共演だ!!

  • Hannu, Matti. Did you learn it?

    x Mike Hunt

  • white people can't fucking dance

  • @xtralimit u jerk

  • @xtralimit you call the sh-t that you blacks do today dancing???? NOT

  • This is my favourite song of all time.

  • Rick Wakeman actually plays the piano in this recording; Elton John is only MIMING (as the rest of them are) the piano for this UKTV Xmas Special. Bolan admitted he basically ripped off the riff to Little Queenie and even sings 'meanwhile I was still thinking' at the end. The drummer Bill Legend is now a devout Christian and plays drums in his church band!

  • One of the ten best PURE rock 'n' roll songs ever made.

  • hey eah glam rock t rex 4 ever legend band

  • i fought in a war ..and quite frankly i find this sort of thing totally disgusting .

  • What haven't Oasis ripped off?! Shocking!

    This, conversely, is still tremendous!

  • ive just realised oasis completely ripped the riff off for cigarettes ad alcohol

  • @laddy933610 Just realized? Woah.

  • @laddy933610 noel admitted that when they released cigs and alc back in 1994 lol remember "talent borrows genius steals"

  • @laddy933610 oasis are a rip off full stop

  • Best version on YouTube.

  • @KJmoped1972: By ALL MEANS, if you haven't already, GET the absolutely glorious T. Rex album Electric Warrior, which includes this song. The whole album is an absolute groove. By get it, don't do any of that IPOD shit. Get off your ass and go to a STORE and BUY the CD. Goes for everyone. :ranting:

@hearditman: They were also Flo and Eddie in the Mothers of Invention.

@laddy933610: And Prince took elements and retitled it "Cream."

  • whose providing the falsetto?

  • @eTsmoKeBaby Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman who were in The Turtles. They sang with T.Rex on early singles and Electric Warrior and Slider albums.

  • cute girl on blue clothes at 0:52 . wonder what does she look like today.

  • @phboba I would also love to see her nowadays (Well, I would have died for dating her those days..particularly hard being five in 1971, snifff ) She´s extremely cute...Probably Marc was luckier and enjoyed his short life to the limit.

  • @phboba Thats my wife your talking about! Hot today as she always was.

  • @wild14me really? Nice dude, good to hear that. Cheers!

  • dirty swettie ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cool song this makes me claim the walls

  • @favoritefella derp

  • real music by musicians

  • @orville1960 nah, it's prerecorded.

  • 14 guys can't "get it on"

  • @aztectat bet you can't get it UP.

  • @aztectat ..to make sure ,ask your mom;)

  • Extra cheese please!

  • this almost calls for a country-fied version, texas twang won't sound far off!

  • Woah. What's Elton doing there!?

  • @alexdarty: You know how Butt-Head said while watching the Ramones' version of "Substitute," "Cause he's Lemmy, he can walk into any damn video he wants?" Same goes for Elton John.

  • i am 36 and i love t rex i was'nt born when this was released. My friend who is 44 i aske what artist would she see in concert she said marc bolan i wish he was still alive he wouldb would be still making music.

  • Simply the greatest pure pop song ever recorded. Still gives me goosebumps and a raging hard-on every time I hear it.

  • Everything about this song is subtle brilliance. Steady rockabilly beat, synchopated guitar licks and percussion, eerie organ on the chorus, not to mention Mark's sexy vocals. Rock at it's greatest.

  • Could any guy wear pink trousers and look so gorgeous???? Love and miss you my baby. Gxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Mark Bolan was straight and put on glitter that his girlfriend had. He basically created the Glam Rock era! Even David Bowie wore makeup! Grow up homophobes! It'S 2011!

  • @bluekarma totally agree with you !

  • @bluekarma

Glam rock was actually originated in New York by Lou Reed. It was copied by David Bowie who produced Lou's Transformer album in late 1971. He bought it back to the UK and it was ripped off by Marc Bolan.

He chnged the name of Tyrannosaurus REx to T REX and , John Peel who had discovered them, was so disgusted that he never spoke to Bolan again Even this song was a rip off of a Lou Reed track called Wagon Wheel

  • @hoonies81 Check your facts. Bowie's Space Oddity came out in 1969 under the title Man Of Words/Man Of Music. However you are right - All these people were connected. Bowie spent a lot of time with Marc Bolan. And when you consider that both Mick Ronson and Marc Bolan died so young, it's amazing that Bowie is still alive.

  • @ireadtabloids

David Bowie wasnt glam rocking in 1969. That all started with the Ziggy Stardust album in 1972. That was after he produced the Lou Reed album.

  • @hoonies81 Just as I said that last thing I'm pretty sure I got my facts wrong. I concede =)

  • @hoonies81

Electric Warrior - from where this track comes - was recorded early to mid-71, so if Reed's Transformer was done in late 71 how could Bolan have been influenced by it? And John Peel was a prat who seemed to resent anyone becoming successful. He fell out with Jethro Tull when they got in the charts too, having supported them previously. Who cares what Peel thought anyway, he was just a DJ who played records. One musician making good music is worth a thousand Peels!

  • Cracks me up Elton John on piano! Little did they know that Elton would soon skyrocket to superstardom with countless hits and this would be a footnote in rock history that he played piano in T-Rex on that groups only big hit!

  • DAMMIT MARC!

    you popped my zipper.

  • A band that rocks harder than this suckie T Rex Band GO CHECK OUT

SONS OF LIBERTY on youtube, an anti-new world order band, check them out and listen to all their songs.

  • is that elton john on the keyboard?

  • @jonnyhock Why, yes, it IS Elton John. Oh, and it's 2011 now. Homophobic jokes are so last century.

  • @jonnyhock yup :)

  • The line "Meanwhile I'm still thinking" is from the Chuck Berry song "No Particular Place to Go."

  • @JKTube Actually that line is from Little Queenie

  • @woodyt56: You are right. I stand corrected.

  • I LOVE this song!

  • Nothings even plugged in Lol

  • gay band but good chillin Music

  • @mrchief12567 gay band? what the fuck does that mean? gay is not a synonym for stupid. and if you meant that they're gay because they're flashy, then you should stop listening to old school glam rock. respect or gtfo

  • @25ghr The Girls in hotpants, the dancers in short skirts, the whores wearing boots, and all Elton John can think about is sticking Marc Bolan's big uncircumsized dick in his ass after the show!

  • My boyfriend looks just like Mark Bolan, I wish he'd dress like this num num num

  • The other night, on TV there was a special programme showing various acts on TOTP from 1964-75. Of course the BBC showed this video! If it didn't it would have ruined my evening.

  • @emzibobthestrangest Yep. And the cool thing is - there's no piano track in the song! I think he was just there as a friend of Bolan's for the TOTP's gig

  • @emzibobthestrangest no thats Elton John playing with Marc Bolans stiff dick.

  • @ShamWasBetter how ignorant!
