(pilot) that's for schoolgirls! now this is a route with some chesthair! by jackkniffing off one after another at breakneck speed... we might create some gravity boost or something.
Read the oficial investigation report of German aviation authorities and Airbus: * The (female) co-pilot decided herself for the go-around - no override * Takeover from (male) pilot was temporary as agreed upfront, second and successful landing again was done by the co-pilot(!) * Plane's operations manuals needed improvement as some info/features relevant for such conditions were not described well enough. * Neither pilot nor co-pilot took any specific wrong decision in this landing.
this has nothing to do with good piloting. many people where lucky this day. of course it took skill of the pilots in charge to get out of the situation. but there were bad decisions made by several people in the plane and on the ground that brought the plane and passengers aboard into that. and the computer gizmos in the plane didn't help either. read the report.

@TG626 Bullshit! At those winds it would always be the Capt. who will take the role as pilot flying. Its just the arrogant prick Capt. trying to cover up for poor decision-making, and blaming a poor F/O...

I don't understand why they keep praising on this pilot's skills! Amongst the very vital skills an airline pilot must have is great judgement and clearly here that's not the case.

@marshalllucky but you will have to consider the amount of fuel left and the traffic.... the more fuel the tanks have the more weight the plane would have... this will prevent the wind from tossing to plane too much...

@jeepnutnh Pilots in training can get experience in many ways without putting the lives of hundreds at risk. They could do smaller aircraft or freight in the same aircraft as the commercial airlines. There is no need to practice difficult situations with large numbers of passengers lives at risk.
@ChrisPCrunchy these pilots did a fantastic job. No doubt. All pilots go through the same training. They don't need practice with freight. You're thought is just ignorant. Because these pilots were top notch everyone on board was safe. It would have been scary though huh? Flying is the safest way to travel.
true that was a very skilled pilot, but luck was definately with them. pilot would have displayed more skill by merely going around well before the attempted touchdown, winds were way to strong and off line
@BallisticTip270WSM Exactly. Some pilots succumb to the pressure of getting there that they develop a case of what other pilots call "Get-there-itis". It is an often-lethal condition.
Uhm... The female copilot tried to land in heavy crosswinds, but just before this was going catastrophic, the male captain took the controls and made a desicion to go around!
Looks like a rapid succession of disasters this pilot manages to avoid. Now it's just a race to park that piece of crap before the tail breaks off and the plane explodes!
First of all everything was pretty much fine until he/she went to kick out the crab and didn't add opposite aileron. But secondly, this landed and Hamburg-Harburg, which is not a commercial airport, and there's also no way a commercial flight would be allowed to land in those conditions. Every carrier has crosswind maximums, and this was surely over whatever they are. This was no LH flight.
@mr3856a from what i heard it was a female CO-pilot landing, once she went to the left of the runway the male CAPTAIN took control and went around. but i agree, those winds look way to strong to be "safe"
Stubborn pilots with "getthereitis" is everywhere. This time it was a female. So what? Luckily someone in the cockpit hit the TOGA button just in time to avoid a crash.
I say that there was pilot error in trying to land in such strong crosswinds. I know there are you who will say, "it was completely safe and he did not crash"...
Well, actually, he did crash. That was a wing strike, not a near miss and the whole god damn airplane was almost lost. Don't take chances with passengers, that is my bottom line. Sometimes, you have to. This was not one of those times..
@jbax1000000 While tower can give you up-to-the-second wind info at the runway, this isn't the best info for a pilot on final with strong crosswinds. The only thing that matters is what you feel in the wheel and what you do to get the plane on the ground with as much skill, & grace as possible. This report is exaggerated. This was in many ways similar to many crosswing approaches. If ATC's active runway is deemed not safe, then the pilot can choose another. The pilot is always final authority.
HE WAS CLEARLY OUT OF CONTROL AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TRIED TO LAND..I HOPE HE LOST HIS TICKET.....AND THE TV ANNOUNCER WAS JUST AS DUMB..."THE SKILL OF THE PILOT" ,,PURE BULLS***
somtimes you just cant believe the stupidity of a pilot and atc to even consider a landing in these conditions. you just cant take these kind of risks with innocent peoples lives, you have no right.
@ODOMAN123 Oh why don't you try to land an plane in heavy winds blowing you plane around? Easy you're too sacred unlike this FEMALE females are not bad at everything but hey there has to be retards in the world right?
@MLGHaloKid yes thanks for the compliment, i am sacred. this bitch nearly killed everyone on board on her awful approach she deserves every bit of shit people can throw at her.. i bet your faggot ass wouldn't be kissing this crazy bitch pilot's ass as much if it were you on that plane or if you were the other pilot that's for sure... now go fuck yourself
@MLGHaloKid hey fuck head, it's obvious it was the winds why are mentioning it? are you retarded? no i am not a fucking pilot retard, but i can tell you this what she did was irresponsible to begin with you stupid fuck head.. that approach was fucked to begin with. And faggot, sayin "let's see if you can do better" doesn't exactly remedy the fact she's a crazy cunt driving a plane that nearly killed everyone WITH ALL that training.. stfu stupid fuck.
@ODOMAN123 1.How can you control the winds making the plane fly side to side? YOU DON'T. 2.Because of the GOD DAMN WINDS 3.Oh so they got trained to control the winds eh? Lol you are the only stupid fuck head who doesn't know anything about how nature and driving works GENDER DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCES ONLY THE PERSON WHO IS DRIVING IS WHAT MAKES EVERYTHING DIFFERENT AND EVEN MALES SOMETIMES SUCK AT FLYING SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GROW THE HELL UP Wait you can't right...
@MLGHaloKid hey faggot, you mad? haha, you mad eh? u sad little faggot fuck head... now to making you even more mad, no idiot they're trained to fly an aircraft in conditions such as these, and she nearly destroyed the aircraft because she recklessly descended with a poor approach... she could of full powered and went around, but instead she continued and nearly clipped the wing on the tarmac... but you're such a cum guzzler that you can't see past the cum flooding your eye sockets... fag.
@MLGHaloKid No moron, when someone tells you to go kill yourself, it means they want you to do it yourself. LoL you can't understand english eh fucktard? You're mental.
how much thrust have you bro?

yynnmmbb 4 months ago
i wouldn't even attempt to land. i would've aborted the approach
BallisticTip270WSM 4 months ago 18
@BallisticTip270WSM Exactly. Some pilots succumb to the pressure of getting there that they develop a case of what other pilots call "Get-there-itis". It is an often-lethal condition.

@SenorSpode i see this lol

@BallisticTip270WSM Request alternate runway or alternate airport.
DammitDrag 3 months ago
@BallisticTip270WSM Maybe they had no fuel
You don't know what they'd decide to land they obviously had a reason
nik0lhc 3 months ago
@BallisticTip270WSM
All nearby airports were already closed due to the storm. What should they do? Stay in the air until they got no more fuel?
steini283 2 months ago
@steini283 regardless if an airport is close or not, they will still let a plane land in an emergency

Uhm... The female copilot tried to land in heavy crosswinds, but just before this was going catastrophic, the male captain took the controls and made a desicion to go around!

Fake! pilots balls couldn't fit in the cockpit.

@ahampster2 they had to use a pump truck to get all the shit out of the cockpit!

Looks like a rapid succession of disasters this pilot manages to avoid. Now it's just a race to park that piece of crap before the tail breaks off and the plane explodes!

Landing in those kinds of winds doesn't look like good judgement.

to all the self-appointed experts here, I would suggest to read the official report ... instead of making some weird "explanations" here
Just google for: Report_08_5X003_A320_Hamburg-Crosswindlanding.pdf

The pilot was a German and was not demoted ... """She was praised by Lufthansa as a very good pilot..... and yes the pilot was a woman
DooDstage 5 months ago
@DooDstage THE CO PILOT WAS A """"""FEMALE"""""" if you read the description, The MALE captain TOOK THE CONTROLS and PULLED THE PLANE OUT OF A CRASH.

correction to my statement side slip , not side slide.
hondacrxrus 5 months ago
First of all everything was pretty much fine until he/she went to kick out the crab and didn't add opposite aileron. But secondly, this landed and Hamburg-Harburg, which is not a commercial airport, and there's also no way a commercial flight would be allowed to land in those conditions. Every carrier has crosswind maximums, and this was surely over whatever they are. This was no LH flight.
mr3856a 5 months ago
@mr3856a from what i heard it was a female CO-pilot landing, once she went to the left of the runway the male CAPTAIN took control and went around. but i agree, those winds look way to strong to be "safe"

I think it was because he tried to slip to late. You should add your final cross wind correction slip on about a 1/2 mile final in my opinion.
flyinhigher1000 5 months ago
Stubborn pilots with "getthereitis" is everywhere. This time it was a female. So what? Luckily someone in the cockpit hit the TOGA button just in time to avoid a crash.
step6410 5 months ago
@step6410 yes but not a wing strike

This reminds me of the Delta accident in crosswinds in Texas, remember?

CookieLiet 5 months ago
I say that there was pilot error in trying to land in such strong crosswinds. I know there are you who will say, "it was completely safe and he did not crash"...
Well, actually, he did crash. That was a wing strike, not a near miss and the whole god damn airplane was almost lost. Don't take chances with passengers, that is my bottom line. Sometimes, you have to. This was not one of those times..
StellarBlue1 5 months ago
@StellarBlue1 I totally agree, did he have enough fuel to make it to another airport,etc?...definetly an error to try to land...
alfreddunn03 5 months ago
@alfreddunn03 I believe fuel was not an issue....and the hot shot pilot was not a hero. You and I both know he was a lucky SOB!!.. IMHO.
StellarBlue1 5 months ago
@jbax1000000 While tower can give you up-to-the-second wind info at the runway, this isn't the best info for a pilot on final with strong crosswinds. The only thing that matters is what you feel in the wheel and what you do to get the plane on the ground with as much skill, & grace as possible. This report is exaggerated. This was in many ways similar to many crosswing approaches. If ATC's active runway is deemed not safe, then the pilot can choose another. The pilot is always final authority.

davetek490 5 months ago
damn those are good pilots, it's a hell of a lot harder to land in crosswinds then people think if they've never held the controls of an aircraft.

MLGHaloKid 5 months ago
@MLGHaloKid yes thanks for the compliment, i am sacred. this bitch nearly killed everyone on board on her awful approach she deserves every bit of shit people can throw at her.. i bet your faggot ass wouldn't be kissing this crazy bitch pilot's ass as much if it were you on that plane or if you were the other pilot that's for sure... now go fuck yourself
ODOMAN123 5 months ago
@ODOMAN123 It's the fucking winds dumbass if it was you without training because you are too dam lazy you WILL kill everyone.
MLGHaloKid 5 months ago
@MLGHaloKid hey fuck head, it's obvious it was the winds why are mentioning it? are you retarded? no i am not a fucking pilot retard, but i can tell you this what she did was irresponsible to begin with you stupid fuck head.. that approach was fucked to begin with. And faggot, sayin "let's see if you can do better" doesn't exactly remedy the fact she's a crazy cunt driving a plane that nearly killed everyone WITH ALL that training.. stfu stupid fuck.
ODOMAN123 5 months ago
MLGHaloKid 5 months ago
@MLGHaloKid hey faggot, you mad? haha, you mad eh? u sad little faggot fuck head... now to making you even more mad, no idiot they're trained to fly an aircraft in conditions such as these, and she nearly destroyed the aircraft because she recklessly descended with a poor approach... she could of full powered and went around, but instead she continued and nearly clipped the wing on the tarmac... but you're such a cum guzzler that you can't see past the cum flooding your eye sockets... fag.
