@dekefowen during growls tense on the neck it seems to open more guttural growls and let the vocals come from the lower vocal chords. Kinda hard to explain it, I just do it. Then loosen up for the singing part and work from the upper vocals. It is easier for him to hide flaws because he is over modulating pretty bad due to imbalance and bad recording area.
