I'm not going to say you're completely wrong, and I'm not going to say you're completely right. Looking for that one big song pushes artists to do better and produce music they might not have thought they could produce.

It could either make or break the band. It's probably the only drawback (that I know of) for bands with their own record company. They could put out something they think they did their best with and it'll totally be a pile of crap. That is, if they don't have any drive.

all i am saying is that i have a problem with the record industry when they hear a legendary album in the works such as BLACKBIRD, and then they have the nerve to tell the musician that while it's great and all, they need to write a song that fits their own needs.

oh, yeah definately. the comapny likes to have their say in the album thats for sure.

they should leave it to the band to decide whats best for the band because more often than not, the band knows what theyre doing and would be better off without any outside influences.

i know alter bridge is already so much better off now that they have gotten rid of wind-up records, i just was shocked to hear that they STILL had someone coming to them asking for 'that big song'.

they do west coast shows from time to time, but they tour europe the most. my buddy saw them in cali in like early 07 maybe? and daughters of mara was opening. i would have LOVED to see that show!

Myles's talking voice sounds so different from his singing voice. Hard to believe it's the same guy.

that's because there are two kind of voices, head voice which is the one you use to talk and chest voice which is the one pro-singers use to sing, try it, try to sing feeling some kind of reverberance in your chest and you'll se you have a diferent voice

I beg to differ. Chest voice is what you talk with and typically sing with. Your head voice is what guys tend to use when they cant hit high notes, so they kind of cheat and it sounds a bit whimpy at times, kind of girlish. The incredible singers are the ones whose chest voices go all the way up to the top of their range like Miles and Geoff Tate from Queensryche, though his range has dropped a tiny bit over time.
