  • I'm having difficulty. I placed all the folders where they are supposed to be and renamed common5 but when I boot up brawl, the CSPs I made don't show up. I did save the images as .tga too. Any ideas what I may have missed?

  • i need help. whenever i activate step 2 i only get files in the menu folder but not in the info folder. what gives.

  • should the tga file stay as example "kirby#_big.tga" or should i replace the "#" with the number the texture is? also do i need cupash thingy? if not what folder should the tga file be?

  • I got files that come up in the main CupASH folder that are .TEX0 files, and my wii freezes up when I try to run the character screen, I tried making my own CSPs with dark knight images, the joker one worked but is a tad blurry, and when I try the batman one it just doesn't work, it has a .TEX0 file that I don't know what to do with it.

  • cupash wont extract the files from the common5_en.pac I looked everywere for the answer and cant find it i have the texConv and the ntcompress) but i keep getting all these error messages in the command promt saying "usamode.tmp not found"... help?

    ok. i have the common5_en.pac and all of the small pictures (which are used in battle). my CUPASH used to extract the images. it doesn't anymore.

  • Do you mean edit the retail disc? No, you cannot edit a disc, you can only make a new one.

  • make sure you have ntcompress and texconverter. I had the same problem.

  • Alright Picano, I managed to "change" the character select images, the problem is, they changed to look like shredded versions of the intended picture... I'm not sure if that is because I indexed the picture AFTER I added a new magenta layer, but if I index before that, it won't let me add another layer. I'm also getting custom select images for characters I haven't even worked on, but I'm guessing, that comes from the common5.pac file I'm using, correct? So that's not a big deal.

  • brres --- something like "infface##.brres"

    They are the in battle portraits and are created by having _small images in the newfiles folder.

  • ooooh! Gotcha! Thanks bro. It's just that, I'm doin' everything here, but I can't seem to get the character select screen to show my Custom Pics, or anything for that matter... even when the program to create all this stuff goes through that "process" without errors. I've been tryin' to figure out exactly what it is that I'm missing... yeah. When I figure this all out, I think I'm gonna give you my whole trial and error record, just in case others deal with this stuff.

    btw, there was this one guy who customized a stage to be perfectly MAGENTA! It's great because all he had to do after that was take in game screenshots and convert them accordingly to proper size and proper file, and VIOLA! New CSP! I've been lookin' for that lately... I know there was a vid on youtube, but I can't seem to find it... meh I want to test it out. So I'll keep lookin'.  Thanks for your help, Picano.

  • About this photoshop thing, whenever my image is indexed, I can't create new layers, and if I index two layers, they merge.

  • Sounds like you didn't use propper magenta (check and make sure the hex code is EXACTLY #ff00ff after it's indexed)

    Also... I'll pm ya a link, seems I can't post it in the comments, which should fix your other problem.

  • You need to index it, says so right in the video.

    Photoshop / GIMP

    Image > Mode > Index [72 colors max]

    Also it has to have no transparency, anything you want transparent has to be magenta. (Side note... if you add magenta before indexing... you might get a pink fringe --- best to do so after like I did in the video)

  • Also, I figured out how to get the selection portraits to work.

    Just take the MenSelchrFaceB###.brres file and rename it to InfFace###.brres.

    The number stays the same.

    i havent the slightest idea on how to get/create them. i have the textures and CSPs working but i dont know how to get the battle portraits to work. Im using CUPASH and everything but nothing ever seems to come out in the portrite folder. im kind of a noob at this so help would be greatly appreciated

  • Yeah... I've never bothered with them myself just because... there are lots. But, you can get a zip of them from a topic on Kitty Corp.

  • Can you post the GCT file somewhere else? You have to log in to enter Kitty Corp's forums. Because there must be something wrong with the codes I'm using. I burned a DVD using the info, system, and menu folder I made when using CUPASH and it worked. Everything worked perfectly. The Victory Portrait, the Selection Portrait, and the Battle portrait. However, when I use the SD card, only the victory screen works. So I may need a certain code that I'm missing or something.

  • Both. --- CUPASH makes it... but the placement of files on the SD card combined with the linked code allows you to use them.

  • I get victory portraits, but no select portraits. I use SD Loader v 1.1, still no select portraits.

  • Do we have to do all that layer stuff at 4:10? And after we change the .tga file/templete, we have to save it to new files? I thought we edit the current unedited .tga file and save/overwrite it.

    step 2 puts everything in newfiles folder...

  • pcs is the texture itself (may need to create a pac for it with LZ77)

    _small / _big are battle / select screen portraits... you still have to run those through CUPASH for them to be of use.

  • I believe it should work but I'm not sure.

    Does Gecko OS say that the codes loaded? (I advise you check on the gscentral forums for help with this, or the wiird forums [Gecko OS support basically])

    just needed to get rid of invalid textures when creating it on ASH. Unfortunatly it doesnt come out the way i wish for it to due to that small factor :/

    Btw I use Backup-Launcher (WiiGator) lol

  • Um... I did everything in this video and when I choose my char the said image doesn't show up.

    It Instead shows up on the winning screen.

    I guess it messed up on the char_big and char_ small ones, and mixed them all up or something.

    Great tutorial though, really helped me out a lot.

  • _big is used on both victory and character select. The fact that it worked on victory either means you forgot to rename common5_en.pac to common5.pac, don't have it in \pf\system, or... you aren't using the absolute latest code. --- Use the GCT file I have posted on Kitty Corp --- that is guaranteed to work.

    Dynamic SD Loader for it to show up on the select screen.

  • Yes, they are the ones needed for the HUD. Once you run those through CUPASH... follow the same procedure of copying over the folder / contents. --- But I've never messed with those... seems like a lot of hassle for nothing.

  • Sounds good. But your guess is as good as mine. (The files your supposed to have in addition to common5.pac should provide templates for them when step 1 is used) --- But as I said... never done it.
