@Billshut100 Technically the reporter could countersue as well. If it was true that the Town Hall was done, they could have avoided the questions, ignored the reporter and just left. That would've been smarter. Instead we have this.
@Billshut100 Yeah... because freedom of the press is unconstitutional. Miller is a shady character, and for him not answering what the public needs to know really doesn't make it any better. I'm voting Murkowski because she's not afraid to confront the media when we need to know.
This idiot admitted to pushing someone in an elementary school at a meet and greet where people were trying to have a civil discussion with a candidate. This fool planned to go in there and make a scene even to the point of assault (yes, putting your hands on someone and pushing them is assault). I love how the media is downplaying this guy getting aggressively physical by saying he just pushed him "a little bit." This guy is a known anti-Miller freak who went in there with an agenda!
OK, the security guards could be charged with assault, unlawful detention, or impersonating police officers. If the blogger "put his hands" on someone in the process of asking a question, it could be simple assault but only if it was part of an effort to act violently. Incidental contact is not assault. Besides security officers may detain, not cuff, until the police can make an arrest usually only for a felony. They didn't, of course, because the blogger had committed no offense.
@BoredomCorner Because, the security is able to detain him, if they find a mistameanor assault charge then thats what they will charge him with if thats what they find it as. If you watch any show once some one is shoved police are called to investigate.
So spinning it as usual. Liberal Chump Reporter resorted to violence to gain access to a Public servant and The security team took action to protect Miller !
I am neither a conservative nor a liberal, and I neither like nor dislike this Miller guy -- I have not been following his campaign.
I simply see the rage and profanity spewing from the liberals here -- the unmitigated hate and venom that overflows from them -- and it appears that _they_ are the dangerous people we should worry about.
@peacefuljeffrey Exactly what took place at that event. A crazy Liberal Blogger filled with hate and rage tries to push his way toward a candidate and ends up in cop bracelets. Would it have ended any different had a Police officer been there ? Definitely not except Hopfinger wouldn't be going home anytime soon. A judge would recognize the threat he posed to Mr Miller and kept him locked up for the next couple weeks !
@hobo59 It would also be identical if a conservative did the same thing, except you would be defending the conservative as a victim of liberal society.
There is no open admission to any governmental building of which schools are a part of. Any moron who refuses to leave when asked to leave by a person in authority is subject to arrest on charges of disorderly conduct. I have seen numerous instances of protestors getting removed from liberal town hall meetings. Why is there such a double standard with a conservative??!?
@Gassyliquid Joe Millers private ambitions ape those of the early BROWN SHIRTS in Germany. Hey, at least they didn't shoot him like the Viet Cong would do to people they disagreed with. They only handcuffed him. Jackboot thugs should look at how sensitive these jackboot thugs were. I'm sure these zombies were careful enough not to murder the reporter in bright daylight.
Mr. Miller said in a public statement that he was required to hire a private security firm for the event. A spokesperson for the school were the event was held said there is no requirement for hiring a security firm.
Now Joe has to decide if he'll sue on his own or open himself up for charges false "arrest" or imprisonment. Of course he could just let all the heat fall on the guards and say they acted on their own but that'll look pretty fishy since all this happened so soon after the guy's paper filed a case against Joe.
There was a young man in Britain who called Obama a p###k online and the FBI had him banned from ever visiting the USA. No arrest was made, but he was quite surprised by the response from our government in his Britain.
