When you jump and hit a mob, you always make a critical hit. But you can only see the particles in on other players in multiplayer. If you hit another player with crirical hit, then there will be particles. It doesn't work on mobs in multiplayer.

Question? I have a SMP using the ExCom seed that has all the 1.81 components. I just traveled one MC day west, it generated a sub-surface ravine, mineshaft and all the trimmings. Why did they abandon their original seed?
