@ntfd125 U are right but and I respect ur job as well but I was talking about mentality. Look few comments up. @135maxer Well, and in Poland this burning car would be exhausted much faster... @jacobeast1 Wow, your the perfect case for why there are so many LODD's and cancer cases every year. Lets run in a who cares if we die, at least we tried?? And that toxic smoke, who cares I don't want to see my kids graduate, cancer is cool with me. I hope I don't see your face on FF Close calls one day. If you don't ware an SCBA your a loser.
@kunzy04 I said SCBA is for interior attack. Nobody with a brain in their head enters a burning structure without one. We're talking car fires here. I don't know what they teach at whatever jerkwater dept. you work for, but FDNY is not taking time to mask up before we pull someone alive from a burning vehicle. That simple. Any other way is a discredit to the fire service. Strap on a set of balls and do your duty, which is to risk your life to save another if need be. Otherwise be an EMT. Dick.
@jacobeast1 Was there someone alive inside this vehicle? Risk vs benifit. Ya i agree with you, if there was someone alive in this car, get them out then mask up. But if there is no threat to life why not put an scba on? SCBA is for any situation where we could breath smoke not just interior attack. What about magnesium flashes? How would that feel in the face without scba? You do what you want but I enjoy living...
@kunzy04 First off, in this video the car isn't on fire; the manhole cover beneath it was so he didn't need his SCBA in anyone's book. Should he have moved the car, which is what he was doing? In my opinion, no. But in the event of an unoccupied car fire, we don't get in it until it is completely out and no longer throwing smoke. There is no reason to mask up for a car fire. Period. A magnesium explosion will get you mask or no mask. You shouldn't be that close if it's still going good.
@jacobeast1 Thats ok if the car isn't burning, what is burning in the manhole? Look at the colour of the smoke. What if its a transformer burning oil containing PCB's? My point is you never know what's burning in a fire, it could be anything. If you guys don't want to ware you Ba's thats fine its your health. But my guys and I will always ware ba's when the potential to breath smoke it there. You really should go telling people their pussy's with no balls if we ware our ba's Its the smart choice
@jacobeast1 No, Canadian. Are you going to answer any of the questions I asked or just continue the insults because you know your wrong. And by the way if your FDNY you should probably think about how your insults to everyone in these comments look against your department. But your likely a wanna be... A real firefighter would never say half the things you have,
@kunzy04 A real firefighter would never mask up at a car fire. I've answered you. Repeatedly. We do not take the time to mask up if there is a life hazard at a car fire. We do not approach a car fire where there is no life hazard until it is no longer throwing smoke. Have no doubt any member of the FDNY who happens to see this little exchange will call you a pussy for going on air when you don't need to. Then they'd tell you to grow a pair.
@jacobeast1 A real firefighter would never mask up at a car fire.... whatever buddy, Call me a pussy if you want I will always ware my ba in any situation where I could breath smoke. Enjoy your cancer... I'm going to see my kids graduate...
@abzvinny318 Right, that's why YOUR department is on the forefront of every conversation about firefighting. Isn't it? We wrote the book, son, and it sounds to me like you're a little on the jealous side.
Not at all, actually. And it's because of the attitudes like yours. Yea sure, I enjoy going up and seeing you guys, you're a famous department. Doesn't mean that everything you do is the way it should be done. That has to be one of the biggest misconceptions in the fire service to date.
@abzvinny318 Exactly man, one day all the guys like him who reefer to change because "we've always done it that way" will all be gone. Then maybe we can finally stop loosing 90 plus firefighters a year.
@kunzy04 Know the last time we lost a guy at a fire? November 2008. Must be doing something right. WE WILL NEVER BE GONE. Because we'll teach the new guys the right way to do things. The right way is the proper amount of brains mixed with the proper amount of balls. You DO NOT need to go on air at a minor car fire; what happens if you use your air up and pass a housefire with kids in the window on the way back to quarters? Using it frivolously makes it unavailable when you need it.
I can't wait until the day the idiots like you are phased out of the fire service. If you can't get a simple mask on in under ten seconds, you shouldn't be a firefighter. There's no excuse to not wear an SCBA at smokey scene.
You seemed to be getting pussy and smart confused; they aren't interchangeable.
The FDNY is in the FIREFIGHTING business; not the cool down the foundation after the rest of the structure has burned business. We go in we and get the job done, safely and efficiently as possible; we don't fuss with equipment we don't need to use because it's the MODERN thing to do. You, and your pansy ass little volly dept., could benefit greatly from paying attention to the 200 years of experience we have.
It ain't a matter of the 10 seconds; it's the fact that it's not needed. Pussy.
Again with the name calling. How do you expect to get respected?
What got you onto the department? Blood line? Come on, now. I'm not going to respect your dumb, cocky, arrogant ass because you're a part of the 2nd biggest department on Earth. Take your self-righteous ass somewhere else.
Oh and, you never know. . . Having the mask on might help should, idk, the car blow in your face.
Complacency kills way too many firefighters, and hopefully you don't end up being one of them,
@abzvinny318 When did I ask you for respect? I could give a fuck less what you think. My brothers on the world's finest fire department respect me. What an overly cautious foundation cooler like yourself thinks matters not a shit. Again, dick, I'm not going anywhere near the car until it's out unless there's a victim inside. And if the life of that victim is saved because I didn't use ten seconds to mask up and I get hurt, so be it. That's the risk I take. That's the job.
@jacobeast1 So, what happened? Couldn't pass the written? Physical? Couldn't get through the Academy? You sound a lot like the non hackers that get weeded out at the Rock and end up on some volly company in Jersey playing fireman. I guess when all you go to is the bi-annual car fire you have to mask up, ladder the roof of the car, call hazmat, a chief, rescue company and a tanker just to justify your existence. We got real fires to go to; car fires are an annoyance that makes our dinner cold.
@abzvinny318 You quitting that easy because you know you're wrong or are you an even bigger pussy than I thought? Probably both. If you can't see the difference between using due caution while working an unoccupied car fire and the need to search a structure where people may be hiding/unconscious than you got no business on the backstep. Hey, I think I hear someone yelling that their garbage can is on fire; better mask up, strike out a 2nd alarm and call the safety chief. It could get dicey.
@jacobeast1 Got your message. Fucking funny as hell that you call anyone else a wannabe when you're the buff volly dick posting videos of you bugging REAL firemen for autographs on youtube. You know jack shit about firefighting. When we need someone to follow us around, take pictures and suck our dicks for us we'll call you. At least the Canadian guy's a fireman; you're nothing but a fucking pathetic groupie.
@abzvinny318 Long as you got the message, buff, who I replied to matters not. Hey, maybe next time you head over to R-1 they'll give you a donut and let you slide down the pole. Maybe you can help them wash the rig even! Just be sure to bring a cake for them to eat when they're making fun of what a buff dickhead you are after you leave.
@abzvinny318 Hey, wannabe, I just talked to a friend of mine over at 7 Engine. They need some dessert for after the meal. Bring over a nice cheesecake. He said they'll give you one of those little red plastic helmets we give to kids when they visit and a patch you can sew on your raincoat. With that and your yellow galoshes you can run around your neighborhood making siren noises!
@abzvinny318 Nope. On my off time making sure buffs like yourself get no press. The boys at 7 Engine know to look for you from now on so if I were you I would go panhandling at a different house; they didn't take kind to you decrying the tactics that men bled to come up with. I do enjoy you pretending you're the one having fun.
@abzvinny318 Aww, what happened? I exposed you for the buff dickmunch you are and now you're leaving? So long, wannabe, it's been fun. Don't be sad. Maybe one day you'll be a real fireman instead of a guy who follows them around. I doubt it, because pussies like you are better suited for taking pictures of firemen than actually being one.
@abzvinny318 how much do you know about the fire brigade? are you even a firefighter. do you have proof your a firefighter. do you know F.D.N.Y. Standard operating procedure
@abzvinny318 how much do you know about the fire brigade? are you even a firefighter. do you have proof your a firefighter. do you know F.D.N.Y. Standard operating procedure
@jacobeast1 So if you don't go anywhere near the car until its out how do you put it out? From 30 feet away?? Or do you guys let them burn out completely. Because that makes no sense.
@kunzy04 Anywhere between 15-30 feet is a safe distance that keeps you out of most of the smoke. You move in and mop up once it clears up. Is this hard to fathom? Let's say you use up a bottle at an unoccupied car fire. You change your bottles out for the spares on your rig. You get a run for a housefire, respond, go in and complete most of a search when you run out of air and have to back out. You now have no air left and there's someone trapped while the 2nd due truck is delayed. What then?
@kunzy04 If your answer to my question is "That never happens" or "Use the half filled ones" YOU are the one working stupid because it does indeed happen and you should NEVER enter a structure with anything less then a full bottle. I don't say stay off air at car fires because it's what the old timers did; it's because there WILL be a time where you need that air for something bigger. If we worked like the old timers we'd all be dead. Be smart; but sometimes balls is what's needed.
@jacobeast1 Now I know your not a firefighter because you have no idea what your talking about, how much air do you think you'd use on a car fire? If its more than one bottle your doing something wrong. How much air do you carry on your truck? I hope its more than the bottles in your packs, cause we carry 10 plus what's in the 3 packs. SO say we use 3 bottles at a car fire, that leaves us with 10, we get a structure fire on the way home, I think we have enough until more units arrive.
@kunzy04 Now I know you're a CRAPPY firefighter. We carry the same but once we use 5 minutes worth (which is a generous estimate for putting out a car fire) we put new bottles in. That's to make sure we have as much air as possible if we need it. There's 6 men on my rig; that leaves four GOOD bottles once the replacements have been used up. Might just be us, but we prefer to have a full bottle plus one for every man on the rig if we go to a fire. And anyone who might need rescue would also,
@kunzy04 You shouldn't be wasting ANY air when you don't need to. Have the SCBA on your back, ready if you need it, but stay off your air whenever you don't. And there's plenty of fresh air to be had at a car fire. Step off and take a breath when you need to but don't waste air because you're a chickenshit. Someone's life can depend on you having what you need to find them. If you're going in with anything less than a FULL bottle you are a fucking moron and you're playing with people's lives.
@jacobeast1 Ya I don't think anyone is going in with less than a full bottle. So you would have 4 bottles left, thats enough for an attach and search team to do about 10 minutes. That should be enough time to start until another unit gets there. I don't see it taking more than 10 minutes to get another crew on scene to a structure fire with trapped people. All I'm saying is we need to be careful and take every precaution we can to protect ourselves.
@kunzy04 And if those four run into trouble? All hands on deck. Two guys who could be searching are sitting outside with their thumb up their ass. Unacceptable. Whoever is stuck in that house DESERVES to have every available man looking for them not half the crew outside because they used up air needlessly. You guys do your thing and we'll do ours. Be safe, and be smart, but the day we lose sight of the fact that this job takes guts and sacrifice is the day we become like everyone else.
@jacobeast1 it takes 1, ONE Bottle for the frontline man on a small car fire to wear his pack, everyone else is just supporting and staying out of the smoke.
One Truckie to open up the hood and interiors make a total of 2 TWO bottles used.
You can't tell me you are going from fire to fire to fire during a shift, without any stay at the station.
It takes a minute to refill with fresh, free air.
So don't talk shit about taking risks, when there are none.
@Crazyfogfighter I have on plenty of occasions gone from one fire to another. I don't know where you work, but we don't have a refill unit at our houses. We require a trip to a designated firehouse with our empties for a one for one trade. And if the mask service unit hasn't dropped off new ones we have to go out of service. All for a car fire. Two bottles used because of a CHANCE of taking a feed is two guys who can't search when they WILL be. You also don't have the sack for the job. Join PD.
@jacobeast1 And if it's ok for supporting players to be on scene and not on air then a nozzleman and backup can operate from a distance, out of the smoke, until it's knocked down for a truckie to approach and open up. There is NO REASON to be on air at a minor car fire. NONE. If you're doing it, you're wrong and you're doing a disservice to our job and the public you're supposed to be protecting. And as long as pussies like you are fucking up my job, I'll talk all the shit I want.
@eArtrash You know, it's appropriate that your screen name has the word "trash" in it. I can imagine you in your double wide with a bunch of kids running around confused as to how you could be their dad and uncle at the same time. Don't worry about the firefighting stuff; concentrate on how you'll break the news to your kids that their existence is the result of you nailing your sister.
Thank god he made it out. If you didn't see it, look VERY closely when he points the camera back at it while running. You can see the Firefighter running back to the group.

But if there is no threat to life why not put an scba on? SCBA is for any situation where we could breath smoke not just interior attack. What about magnesium flashes? How would that feel in the face without scba? You do what you want but I enjoy living...
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 First off, in this video the car isn't on fire; the manhole cover beneath it was so he didn't need his SCBA in anyone's book. Should he have moved the car, which is what he was doing? In my opinion, no. But in the event of an unoccupied car fire, we don't get in it until it is completely out and no longer throwing smoke. There is no reason to mask up for a car fire. Period. A magnesium explosion will get you mask or no mask. You shouldn't be that close if it's still going good.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 Thats ok if the car isn't burning, what is burning in the manhole? Look at the colour of the smoke. What if its a transformer burning oil containing PCB's? My point is you never know what's burning in a fire, it could be anything. If you guys don't want to ware you Ba's thats fine its your health. But my guys and I will always ware ba's when the potential to breath smoke it there. You really should go telling people their pussy's with no balls if we ware our ba's Its the smart choice
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 Colour? You a Brit? That would explain alot.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 No, Canadian. Are you going to answer any of the questions I asked or just continue the insults because you know your wrong. And by the way if your FDNY you should probably think about how your insults to everyone in these comments look against your department. But your likely a wanna be... A real firefighter would never say half the things you have,
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 A real firefighter would never mask up at a car fire. I've answered you. Repeatedly. We do not take the time to mask up if there is a life hazard at a car fire. We do not approach a car fire where there is no life hazard until it is no longer throwing smoke. Have no doubt any member of the FDNY who happens to see this little exchange will call you a pussy for going on air when you don't need to. Then they'd tell you to grow a pair.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 A real firefighter would never mask up at a car fire.... whatever buddy, Call me a pussy if you want I will always ware my ba in any situation where I could breath smoke. Enjoy your cancer... I'm going to see my kids graduate...
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04
Don't worry about him. He's yet to have grown up.
Like they say...
The fire service: 200 years of tradition unimpeded by progress.
But hell, if you want to learn how they fought fires 100 years ago, NYC is a great place to visit. ;)
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Right, that's why YOUR department is on the forefront of every conversation about firefighting. Isn't it? We wrote the book, son, and it sounds to me like you're a little on the jealous side.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
Not at all, actually. And it's because of the attitudes like yours. Yea sure, I enjoy going up and seeing you guys, you're a famous department. Doesn't mean that everything you do is the way it should be done. That has to be one of the biggest misconceptions in the fire service to date.
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Exactly man, one day all the guys like him who reefer to change because "we've always done it that way" will all be gone. Then maybe we can finally stop loosing 90 plus firefighters a year.
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 Know the last time we lost a guy at a fire? November 2008. Must be doing something right. WE WILL NEVER BE GONE. Because we'll teach the new guys the right way to do things. The right way is the proper amount of brains mixed with the proper amount of balls. You DO NOT need to go on air at a minor car fire; what happens if you use your air up and pass a housefire with kids in the window on the way back to quarters? Using it frivolously makes it unavailable when you need it.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
I can't wait until the day the idiots like you are phased out of the fire service. If you can't get a simple mask on in under ten seconds, you shouldn't be a firefighter. There's no excuse to not wear an SCBA at smokey scene.
You seemed to be getting pussy and smart confused; they aren't interchangeable.
abzvinny318 2 months ago
The FDNY is in the FIREFIGHTING business; not the cool down the foundation after the rest of the structure has burned business. We go in we and get the job done, safely and efficiently as possible; we don't fuss with equipment we don't need to use because it's the MODERN thing to do. You, and your pansy ass little volly dept., could benefit greatly from paying attention to the 200 years of experience we have.
It ain't a matter of the 10 seconds; it's the fact that it's not needed. Pussy.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
Complacency kills way too many firefighters, and hopefully you don't end up being one of them,
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 When did I ask you for respect? I could give a fuck less what you think. My brothers on the world's finest fire department respect me. What an overly cautious foundation cooler like yourself thinks matters not a shit. Again, dick, I'm not going anywhere near the car until it's out unless there's a victim inside. And if the life of that victim is saved because I didn't use ten seconds to mask up and I get hurt, so be it. That's the risk I take. That's the job.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 So, what happened? Couldn't pass the written? Physical? Couldn't get through the Academy? You sound a lot like the non hackers that get weeded out at the Rock and end up on some volly company in Jersey playing fireman. I guess when all you go to is the bi-annual car fire you have to mask up, ladder the roof of the car, call hazmat, a chief, rescue company and a tanker just to justify your existence. We got real fires to go to; car fires are an annoyance that makes our dinner cold.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
Do you get off on making yourself sound like a hard ass? You must.
Oh and one more thing:
"What an *overly cautious foundation cooler* like yourself thinks matters not a shit."
and
"I'm not going anywhere near the car until it's out unless there's a victim inside."
Hypocritical much, you inbred shit?
Now I'm beginning to doubt you're even a firefighter at all! I don't have the time to argue with an idiotic wannabe FDNY firefighter.
Have a nice day.
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 You quitting that easy because you know you're wrong or are you an even bigger pussy than I thought? Probably both. If you can't see the difference between using due caution while working an unoccupied car fire and the need to search a structure where people may be hiding/unconscious than you got no business on the backstep. Hey, I think I hear someone yelling that their garbage can is on fire; better mask up, strike out a 2nd alarm and call the safety chief. It could get dicey.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 Got your message. Fucking funny as hell that you call anyone else a wannabe when you're the buff volly dick posting videos of you bugging REAL firemen for autographs on youtube. You know jack shit about firefighting. When we need someone to follow us around, take pictures and suck our dicks for us we'll call you. At least the Canadian guy's a fireman; you're nothing but a fucking pathetic groupie.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
Bla, bla, bla. I gave up listening to you babber on.
However, I think it's fucking hilarious that you're too stupid to reply to me and not yourself. Haha, idiot.
I'm done arguing with you.
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Long as you got the message, buff, who I replied to matters not. Hey, maybe next time you head over to R-1 they'll give you a donut and let you slide down the pole. Maybe you can help them wash the rig even! Just be sure to bring a cake for them to eat when they're making fun of what a buff dickhead you are after you leave.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Hey, wannabe, I just talked to a friend of mine over at 7 Engine. They need some dessert for after the meal. Bring over a nice cheesecake. He said they'll give you one of those little red plastic helmets we give to kids when they visit and a patch you can sew on your raincoat. With that and your yellow galoshes you can run around your neighborhood making siren noises!
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1
Haha. Eight minutes in between these two comments? What are you doing, sitting at your computer trying to come up with the best insults?
I have to admit though, they are fairly enjoyable. Keep it up, sir! :)
abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Nope. On my off time making sure buffs like yourself get no press. The boys at 7 Engine know to look for you from now on so if I were you I would go panhandling at a different house; they didn't take kind to you decrying the tactics that men bled to come up with. I do enjoy you pretending you're the one having fun.

abzvinny318 2 months ago
@abzvinny318 Aww, what happened? I exposed you for the buff dickmunch you are and now you're leaving? So long, wannabe, it's been fun. Don't be sad. Maybe one day you'll be a real fireman instead of a guy who follows them around. I doubt it, because pussies like you are better suited for taking pictures of firemen than actually being one.

@jacobeast1 So if you don't go anywhere near the car until its out how do you put it out? From 30 feet away?? Or do you guys let them burn out completely. Because that makes no sense.
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 Anywhere between 15-30 feet is a safe distance that keeps you out of most of the smoke. You move in and mop up once it clears up. Is this hard to fathom? Let's say you use up a bottle at an unoccupied car fire. You change your bottles out for the spares on your rig. You get a run for a housefire, respond, go in and complete most of a search when you run out of air and have to back out. You now have no air left and there's someone trapped while the 2nd due truck is delayed. What then?
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@kunzy04 If your answer to my question is "That never happens" or "Use the half filled ones" YOU are the one working stupid because it does indeed happen and you should NEVER enter a structure with anything less then a full bottle. I don't say stay off air at car fires because it's what the old timers did; it's because there WILL be a time where you need that air for something bigger. If we worked like the old timers we'd all be dead. Be smart; but sometimes balls is what's needed.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 Now I know your not a firefighter because you have no idea what your talking about, how much air do you think you'd use on a car fire? If its more than one bottle your doing something wrong. How much air do you carry on your truck? I hope its more than the bottles in your packs, cause we carry 10 plus what's in the 3 packs. SO say we use 3 bottles at a car fire, that leaves us with 10, we get a structure fire on the way home, I think we have enough until more units arrive.
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 Now I know you're a CRAPPY firefighter. We carry the same but once we use 5 minutes worth (which is a generous estimate for putting out a car fire) we put new bottles in. That's to make sure we have as much air as possible if we need it. There's 6 men on my rig; that leaves four GOOD bottles once the replacements have been used up. Might just be us, but we prefer to have a full bottle plus one for every man on the rig if we go to a fire. And anyone who might need rescue would also,
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@kunzy04 You shouldn't be wasting ANY air when you don't need to. Have the SCBA on your back, ready if you need it, but stay off your air whenever you don't. And there's plenty of fresh air to be had at a car fire. Step off and take a breath when you need to but don't waste air because you're a chickenshit. Someone's life can depend on you having what you need to find them. If you're going in with anything less than a FULL bottle you are a fucking moron and you're playing with people's lives.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 Ya I don't think anyone is going in with less than a full bottle. So you would have 4 bottles left, thats enough for an attach and search team to do about 10 minutes. That should be enough time to start until another unit gets there. I don't see it taking more than 10 minutes to get another crew on scene to a structure fire with trapped people. All I'm saying is we need to be careful and take every precaution we can to protect ourselves.
kunzy04 2 months ago
@kunzy04 And if those four run into trouble? All hands on deck. Two guys who could be searching are sitting outside with their thumb up their ass. Unacceptable. Whoever is stuck in that house DESERVES to have every available man looking for them not half the crew outside because they used up air needlessly. You guys do your thing and we'll do ours. Be safe, and be smart, but the day we lose sight of the fact that this job takes guts and sacrifice is the day we become like everyone else.
jacobeast1 2 months ago
@jacobeast1 it takes 1, ONE Bottle for the frontline man on a small car fire to wear his pack, everyone else is just supporting and staying out of the smoke.
One Truckie to open up the hood and interiors make a total of 2 TWO bottles used.
You can't tell me you are going from fire to fire to fire during a shift, without any stay at the station.
It takes a minute to refill with fresh, free air.
So don't talk shit about taking risks, when there are none.
Crazyfogfighter 1 month ago
@Crazyfogfighter I have on plenty of occasions gone from one fire to another. I don't know where you work, but we don't have a refill unit at our houses. We require a trip to a designated firehouse with our empties for a one for one trade. And if the mask service unit hasn't dropped off new ones we have to go out of service. All for a car fire. Two bottles used because of a CHANCE of taking a feed is two guys who can't search when they WILL be. You also don't have the sack for the job. Join PD.
jacobeast1 1 month ago
