Natural? chinese crested? naaaa I am there from start till finish. It is natural for the dog to bite to close the cord, but if i do it no hernias, it is natural for the dogs to eat the placenta, but i never allow mine to. It is natural for the Dam to get the pup breathing, but i can do it quicker and more efficiently. Most cresteds WANT their guardian there. it is comforting to the dam. small breeds, more problems can arise. i do not use NP, instead i use white sheets that are bleached.
I agree with the other in that the birth should be as natural as possible only helping when absolutely needed. I find so many people get in and help bc of the possible money lost in losing a pup and not being able to sell. Not saying it is your reason but you need to let nature take it's course and only help if absolutely necessary.
I was raised with farm animals & it is common to be quiet & just watch, helping only when necessary. Most animals know exactly what to do & eating what's left over is disgusting but the right thing for them to do. That's the way God made it.
Bravo. I remember my first litter of cresties!!! You are very trusting I take the babies right away and get em breathing fast, and tie the cords. I would love to see the pups grown. I had to laugh when you all did the you do it thing lol very cute!!

suenell you did the right thing by lowering the lights, otherwise she would have started to get stressed out.

Yeah the light was low because it was late at night so we wanted to keep her as calm as possible.

Why? You're supposed to let the mother do her job. She is in fact a DOG, they know how to give birth on their own without interference.
