The flyover was just tradition, dating back to 1967. Since no other president had a problem with that, it does look like Obama does have a problem with it. Besides, we also have chapels on military posts, tax payer funded endorsement of religion, yet no one calls it a travesty or demands making it illegal. If your going to apply the law, shouldn't we apply it to everything equally? It's just tradition. I agree it shouldn't happen, but it's just how it is.

what is so bad about endorsing christian values which are by the way, pretty morally and ethically binding. albyiscool is correct, congress is not allowed to make a state religion. in this case, there is no statute or law that says christianity is the official religion of the us. i'm an agnostic, but i support the endorsement of christian values. this is also so hypocritical because modern politicials put so much stock in their religion to make themselves look good, even liberals.

There is no "establishment clause". The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT not the STATES can't make a nationwide church like the COE. That was a pro-religious freedom and limting of state powers concerning coercion into a SPECIFIC state controlled church like the COE. It was not intended to wipe out religious opinion from the public sphere or recognition and cooperation with relgiious groups or authrities or traditions. This is a perfect example of church and state. State if you didn't know is another name for a country. The name of the actual event is called God and Country. Doesn't anyone see the similarity between God-Church and Country-State? If anyone really wants there to be Church and State go to the Vatican City. I have nothing against people expressing their religious beliefs in large rallies if they have the money, but I don't want tax payers money going towards enhancing "God and Country" event...
