  • These guys are retards. I never got into At the Drive In...i love the Mars Volta, but i've heard Cedric say this shit at a Mars Volta show too before and it's just stupid. To me, as gay as i think the whole hardcore arms swinging and twirling shit is.. people are going to do shit like that at a show. If i'm on stage i want people moving, and since not everyone wants to or knows how to "dance" in the traditional sense and they aren't going to stand still... that's what happens.

  • @divinegrinder I don't think he hates moshing in general. I think he hates seeing people moshing at their show. When I listen to ATDI/TMV I don't feel like HxC dancing and shit. It's more of a groove-like feel. Like Cedric said, I actually feel like dancing, oppose to the aggressive attitude I have when listening to hardcore/metal bands. Plus, it would be pretty stupid if you want to mosh/HxC dance to their music. It's like trying to start a pit at a Coldplay gig.

  • Who cares if you all don't agree. STFU and get on with it. Haha! Moshers hating on a show they probably didn't get to see anyhow.

  • I'm not one for "slam-dancing," but this dude needs to shut up.

  • Best "Shut Up and Play" moment, ever.

  • OMG WAT FAGS!!!!!! U GUYS SUCK!!!!!! none of them have seriously ever been punched in the fucking face. at least we dont look like faggy little ballerina dancers

  • @slipknotadtr lol, ok tough guy.

  • @clemenza1234

His user name is slipknot a day to remember, I hardly think he knows the definition of the word tough judging by his incredibly homosexual taste in music.

  • @clemenza1234 fuck up, u posin little fag! go back to your faggy little homo band

  • @slipknotadtr lol, wow. <3

  • @slipknotadtr classic metal head snob.

  • Amen!! shut up Jim let Cedric do the talking!!!

  • Love at the drive in but hate this.

It's hard hitting music, this is not a beiber show. Ehh

  • Comment removed

  • @GEETARS3 Lol, you're right.. It's so album!!!

  • I have to agree here. I hate it when I'm in a concert trying to enjoy the music and some obnoxious fuckers start shoving people into me.

  • i still theres still a difference between mosh and mosh... on one side theres this macho bullshit with karate and stuff, at the other this partything, with stagedives, circlepits etc... but fuck, this guy throws also stagediving people out. what the hell. they had should do other music. because standing around, and jumping up and down on one point is a little disrespect to this kind of music.

sorry if my english sucks. yih

  • shut up

  • GAY!

  • yeah you tell em Cedric! forget all that stupid moving around and actually having FUN at shows. yeah Cedric! we dont anyone touching each in ANY way at these shows either man! sheeesh are you serious? doin whatever the fuck youn want at shows is what its all about if people wanna pileon, fuckin let em, seriously who are they hurting? fights are another thing, that shit is whack and i love these guys but seriously spontaneous shit is gonna happen at shos. damn people are touchy as shit

  • there's nothing wrong with moshing, however that karate kicking HxC bullshit sucks.

  • Everything said in this video is true. Moshing is for fucking savages who have severely missed everything that matters about amazing music bands like ATDI put out.

  • I mean, yeah. I understand where they're coming from and I like the fact that they said "You can do it at the show tomorrow and other shows. Just don't do it at our show". They could be like those dickheads who wanna ban moshing from all shows. I mean if it was like I Declare War or Oceano, I would so throw the fuck down, not giving a shit who I hit. But yeah, not during At The Drive-In.

  • Who will wanted to mosh to their music anyway?? it doesn't make any sense.

  • Arcansenal?

  • Well they copied Fugazi for the music, might as well copy the stage rants as well

  • What a bitch. so the fuck what if people mosh, they paid their money to have fun. and for him to air quote the word punk is fucking stupid. hxzzzl is right about them smug and self-righteous.

  • @blue22amd I agree, I pay good fucking money to go to Disney Land to have fun and if I want to kidnap some children then that's exactly what I'll do and no one will stop me.

  • @Binerexis WOW. Thats the best counter argument you have? Thats like comparing apples to pants, its not even the same ballpark, maybe this will help. All the punk shows I went to growing up were just people blowing off steam. If a guy fell in the pit, you picked him up. You didn't crush him or intentionally hurt him. It's really not violent if you can wrap your head around the intent behind A true punk show.

  • @blue22amd Nice 'No true Scotsman' you have there.

  • @blue22amd and other people paid money to see the show and not get beat up by some twirling faggots. moshing is fucking gay and you look fucking retarded

  • @sansdeity420 There are some people that love to hxcx dance. And during certain kinds of shows to certain music, your chance is available. I can't just go out in the middle of the park and start throwing down. People would call the cops. But I can at an I Declare War show or an Oceano show, and nothing will hapen. But it's all based on opinion. Personally I love when there's a pit of 15 people throwing down. I don't give a shit if I get hit, I just continue. Aggresive music = agressive crowd man

  • @sansdeity420 I wasn't aware that homosexuals enjoyed moshing more than heterosexuals.

  • i appreciate the sentiment, but they don't have to be so self righteous about it. the smug levels are off the charts!

  • "Helmet on" jaja que peeerno!!

  • Moshing is awesome... But hitting people isn't moshing... that's just fighting while there's music being played in front of you... and that's retarded...

  • I love ATDI and all, but dear god, when they start saying stuff like "If someone is pushing you around and making you feel uncomfortable", they start sounding like an after-school PSA about pedophilia.

  • @armageddon74400 If someone touches you in a way or in a place that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's no good.

  • Comment removed

  • I think there is a big difference between moshing and hardcore or how cedric calls it "slam-dancing". I mean - if you just push other people or throwing kicks and punches is a difference for me. At least I think that this is what he meant. And people allways have the joice to join the pit. If you don't want to mosh and run in circles just go a few steps to the side or the back and let the angry kids hit each other. I at least have no problem with it - it's a rock concert so what do you expect?

  • @GodvsGod The choice? No. You often just get in there.

  • Who would mosh at a concert like that in the first place?

  • Goth - what sense does it make for people that are unified by the music to push and hit on each other?

  • What the fuck is this pussy horseshit, why go to a gig without fuckin circle pits where is the fun in this faggotry???

  • @GothCubone troll

  • @GothCubone Yeah I can't enjoy a concert without beating the crap out of somebody...

  • What a gaylord.

  • @theeCOSMOS your father

  • id be so fucking pissed if i had to pay for someones fucking hospital bill when i thought id get payed for playing a show

  • if someones pushing you or making you feel uncomfortable then thats no good. So what do you do? first you get security. then you stop being an asshole then you get out of there

  • I love him, omg. -3

  • Punk fucking rock

  • Fucking hipster bitches.

  • Lame.

  • Moshing is not what it used to be. To me, when I get excited about a show and I'm really enjoying myself I like to move around a bit, jump up and down, whatever. Mosh pits are NOT those assholes that kick and punch for the intent to hurt someone. Those are people Cedric should kick the fuck outta the show. However, mosh pits that I know and love where you're just kinda jumping around in your own little space are great. No one gets hurt. It's like doing a chest bump with 6 people at once to music

  • I was at a Streetlight Manifesto and one guy was slam dancing with himself, tripped, and his elbow went straight for my nutsack.

  • @HiddenGestures I went to a Streetlight show and the entire crowd was a mosh pit.

  • If the band doesn't want you to mosh to their music, don't mosh to their music. A lot of innocent bystanders get hurt at concerts because people act like idiots and break "protocol". Speaking as a girl, it sucks when you're enjoying the music and all of a sudden you're being suffocated by this huge dude that got rebound pushed into you, or a wayward elbow hits you in this face. Isn't their music enough to entertain you?

  • Whatever. Don't leave your house if you don't like the physical side of going to a show. Your CD player at home will not mosh... fact. This is pretentious, plain and simple.

  • Beaners FTW. I'm Mexican, I can tell Cedric hates the white kid bullshit too. Kudos. Moshing is fun, but it gets really annoying after like 10 minutes.

  • Saw TMV open for Soundgarden the other day...they had good energy, and it was rather "moshable" though no one did. However, when Soundgarden hit the stage it was a free for all, especially on "Jesus Christ Pose." There was a camraderie in the air not present during TMV performance, and no one was hurt. Maybe Cedric should have laid down some ground rules here for moshing, like "if anyone falls, stop and pick them up, " so people would know the protocol. And yes, there is a protocol...

  • nothing like a huge buzzkill before a mars volta show

  • "Im a guy too"

    Barely...

  • @Scrappy1138 Funny shit!

  • @Scrappy1138 Oh, I get it! Just because someone has a high voice, that qualifies them as less of a man. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

  • @anakinfennie It was a joke, don't get your dick hard.

  • Moshing is a form of expression, but do you express yourself by moshing when listening to music like this? It's like breakdancing while listening to Slayer.

And if it ruins the experience for others, why the fuck would you even bother to go to the show? People like this don't care about what band is playing, they just want to go apeshit in the middle of the crowd.

  • What at pretentious douche...no moshing? You seen onearmedscissor on letterman? And he's going "no moshing". Condescendant prick. If you don't like moshing, don't go in front of the pit. As simple as that. What's next step?? NO SINGING? Hell, might as well avoid all rock concerts cuz you can't stand human contact and energy, when ITS ALL THE POINT GOING AT A SHOW...pussies.

  • @SpyanLord Wow and to think I gave you credit for stringing together a sentence earlier and here you're incoherent and irrelevant as a drunken town idiot. Well, things that require hitting other people to feel "energy" as you so wonderfully put it are just plain old stupid. Moshing is the hipster doofus mentality to correlate anger into actions. You're the real fucking fascist for imposing your actions upon others. And we're the pussies lmao......

  • @povkilla

    -Yaaaawn-

Don't feed the troll you idiot

  • i totally agree with both of them. another downside to moshing that i've noticed (it probably depends on the show and people) is that when there's a big mosh pit at a show in the middle of the audience and the people who don't want to mosh stand to the sides, they tend to not move at all because they're squeezing together to avoid the moshers. I went to see HEALTH a little while ago (great band look them up), and there was a very small and miniscule mosh pit which left room for people to dance.

  • ME ENCANTA MOSHEAR!!!1 OLD SCHOOL!!!!! Y ME ENCATA THE MARS VOLTA TAMBIEN... pero considero k hay musica para moshear y musica k no.... the mars volta no es para moshear... x otro lado k mierda k cedric diga "no hagan esto bububub" marica IDIOTA SI NO TE GUSTA NO MOSHEES Y YA! ABRETE

  • ME ENCANTA MOSHEAR!!!1 OLD SCHOOL!!!!! Y ME ENCATA THE MARS VOLTA TAMBIEN... pero considero k hay musica para moshear y musica k no.... the mars volta no es para moshear... x otro lado k mierda k cedric diga "no hagan esto bububub" marica

  • i love this comment section

  • if you dont like people to mosh and dance, then dont play the music for them to, your an idiot, you should out down the mic and get your ass beat

  • I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!! But I love the way dick smells!!! and im a guy ;)

  • There's alot of love in moshpits aswell, they aren't all violent. The violent ones are shit, but the ones where people stick to just pushing and shoving and help people up when they get knocked down are really fun. In most of the moshpits I've been in people have been putting their arms around each other and patting each other on the back in between songs. Like I said there's alot of love.

  • How up your own arese can you be man?? Jesus fucking christ play your fucking songs and shut the fuck up.

  • I don't think Moshing is immoral. It depends on how you mosh and how many people are moshing. I don't like it when the songs are heavy and the crowd is static. In the moshpits I've been into, people always tried to prevent me from falling. Moshpits also give me the chance of getting closer to the stage without being rude. If it's just a question of pushing for me it's alright as long as there aren't thousands of people moshing. Childish and immature, but still fun. As long as nobody gets hurt

  • while i understand them not wanting to mosh for other people's safety, you cant tell people theyre not allowed to mosh because thays not what you wrote your music for. your fans should be able to respond to the music the way they feel is best for them

  • I'm sure he's seen way too much shitty hardcore dancing from his At The Drive-In days. No wonder he never wants to see that crap ever again.

  • Comment removed

  • I like Jim's part. "Don't be an asshole, basically."

  • I used to mosh in my younger days. I had respect and care for the people in the pit. If someone fell, I'd help them up. If I saw someone in there that didn't want to be, i'd help them out. I would never hit, only push mildly, not intending to to hurt or cause to fall. Some idiots don't follow those rules and that's when it gets ugly. Now I see it as unnecessarily stupid. I keep out of it and hate how I have to protect others and myself from it instead of just enjoying the music.

  • thats real XD.

  • You would think that a band, that was embraced in the hardcore and punk scene as much as they were, would be a little more tolerant. Its just a fucking show. Goddam Cedric is a fucking piece of shit

  • @shamm249 Did you even listen to what he said?

  • @shamm249 i gotta disagree completely, he wants people at his shows to just have a good time. i personally hate fucking moshing. its completely pointless, why be aggressive towards a person you dont even know, and have a common interest with (obviously youre both there to see the band) i went to a lightning bolt concert 2 days ago and it was completely ruined by moshing. cedric wants the crowd to just have a good time together, have u ever just danced at a concert? its a blast. fuck moshing!!!!!

  • this guy tells people not to mosh at the shows they play because they don't want people getting hurt yet while onstage with mars volta he throws cymbal stands at the audience and tried to wrestle a camera from a cameraman so he could, i'm guessing, throw taht at the audience too. Kinda hypocritical isn't it?

  • @spacefreely

    Totally agree, pure hypocrisy

  • mosh pits are scene. its called a push pit. you pingpong people around. if you see someone on the ground in a push pit, you give them a hand and help them up. push eachother around its fun. that way the energy of the music flows.

  • @Iskate2metal mosh pits arent scene. and only retards do them these days the push pit is what many people call a mosh pit these days..

  • @Shellsonimperial scene means people do things because other people do and think its cool

  • wow. "dont mosh or we wont play...." what. the. fuck. promoting snitching and not dancing at shows. hipster cum guzzling fucking shit ass band. don't get me wrong, atdi makes great music. but this is just pathetic. how could anyone 'like' this?

  • @IrXIliger because moshing is stupid. seriously.

  • @IrXIliger They played a few songs but the crowd moshed anyways so atdi stopped playing. Actually, the next act that came on, Limp Bizkit, allowed moshing and a girl died in the mosh pit.

  • yeah i don't like how people are punching each other, its just music doesn't make you more punk than anyone else.

  • is this so hard to understand?i read comments like "you're a pussy", "if you don't like it then don't come to a rock/metal/punk/hardcore concert". we are in 2011 not the iron age...every one deserves to have a good time, and i'm not against CIVILIZED moshing, but for the fact that some retards lcome to this concerts just for the fun to kick people , and not respecting their wish to have a good time, all this kinds of manifestations should be stopped...if YOU wanna mosh, doesm't mean OHTERS do

  • What a fucking pussy.

  • what a load of shit this is, does he realise he is playing at a "punk" show. People should be able to express themselves and dance anyway they want. If he doesnt like it, maybe he should release something a little slower, then maybe he can mime the lyrics and play on a stage way above the audience, which is what he appears he thinks he is anyway, above the audience and above the "punk" movement, fuckwit!

  • @allister87 ..punk was a movement for individualism and self expression!..punching the shit out of each other for no reason wasnt a rule in punk..its some kinda lame ass idea and everyone started to want to do it..to me if everyone is conforming to a rule in punk..then that kills the idea of punk..so they dont want people to get hurt or fight each other..and hey u obviously never tried picking a groove and dancin and clapping to it..much funner than moshing..btw they didnt put up the metalbars..

  • moshings gay

  • It's their show and they don't want moshing. You came to see the band, so as a fan you should be obliged to respect their wishes

  • @Supaduck0 They shouldn't be playing music that naturally makes people want to mosh then.

  • Cmon dont be such a pussy, moshing is fun, its a way to enjoy hard rock music. Its like asking the ppl not to sing along...Its a free country and rock music its about freedom. If you dont like moshing just stand outside of it n enjoy the show... I love TMV. But i dont like to be told what can i or cant do

  • @fabsthevamp well asshole theres a reason for this speech as cedric said its their ass if someone gets hurt if someone gets hurt at that show the people could sue the venue and the band but thats not the worst part if anyone got hurt the venue wouldnt allow them to come back to that place

  • @CHICKMAGNET66666 You pussies, moshing its at their own risk, no one has sued a band for getting hurt, c'mon. Little crybabies. I love to be free, I love to have fun and I love to do whatever the fuck I want at a concert

  • hardcore dancing isnt moshing.

  • @omfgbobsaget hardcore dancing isn't moshing

but its definitely just as stupid

  • well...i like what hes got to say, but moshing just seems like somthing ppl have done at punk shows for so long...but reinventing shit is what keeps it fresh

  • ppl who cares what kind of fuckin band they are the best bands have no genre (I think TMV is definitely an example of that)....it doesn't matter....what matters is that ppl get hurt/killed because assholes want to kick the shit out of other ppl instead of just having a good time. Yeah it is lame that Cedric had to talk to the audience like a scolding father to children....but that's just how it is if you act like fucking immature little kids!

  • @ShinyHeartDiary NO HERES THE THING, there should be a "pit". Anybody who doesn't want to mosh should stay the fuck out of the pit.

  • i love these guys but this is wicked wah wah

  • If they asked for the crowd not to mosh just don'to

  • this is great i saw TMV in 08 and that asshole threw half the drum set into the crowd lol

    gotta love the energy

  • if he hates moshing/crowd surding so much why is he in a hard rock band

  • @rohan750 How about why are people fucking retarded? I can't go to concerts anymore because most of the people in the pit (where I would like to be) aren't there for the they're there for pushing people around, beating the shit out of each other and acting "macho". I cannot count the number of times people have pushed me trying to start a mosh pit and I just left because I can't even pay attention to the actual performance.

  • @huffnat

I agree with you man I like mosh pits but I hate when the pit just turns into a pushing shoving match. Its meant to be a fun and a positive thing not to kill each other in circle pits

  • @rohan750 there's nothing positive about it. Moshing is the stupidest, dumbest fucking thing ever invented. Just a bunch of idiots who can't dance running into each other. I guess some music incites it, but not The Mars Volta. I, for one, applaud Cedric for standing up to the moshers. There are plenty of angry bands out there you can mosh to if you want, but stay the fuck away from a TMV show.

  • @PoeticJustice05

this is at the drive in not mars volta

  • @rohan750 good point.

  • @PoeticJustice05 I mosh at some concerts. The last mosh pit I was in was a Between The Buried And Me concert. But if I ever get the opportunity to see TMV live, I won't mosh since it's a different experience.

  • @PoeticJustice05 This was At The Drive-In. Not TMV.

  • @PoeticJustice05 I agree fully. The idea that "moshing" or slam dancing is true dancing or a form of expression is totally fucked up. You don't express yourself by hitting the person nearest to you when you hear good music. It's tasteless, tacky, and just plain old fuckin stupid.

  • @povkilla you are a worthless cunt

  • @ilikesid and as always, maturity and wisdom rear their ugly heads and call me a worthless cunt lmao. you're a benign and useless, flaccid individual if you have to beat other people up at concerts to feel alive ilikesid. just remember that the next time you get a hard on punching one of your "mates" in the face at the next show you go to....

  • @povkilla moshing has nothing to do with beating people up. its the friendliest thing ever. when people are fighting each other thats fighting. moshing is rough but basically a dance. its rough and fun, but a very necessary way to express a feeling. go to a show that doesnt suck dick and their should be minimal bro mosh. "punching one of your mates", what the fuck. have you ever been to normal show? or A show at that? you are a fucking noob if you think thats what moshing is you fucking moron

  • @ilikesid Actually ilikesid, probably more than you have ever been to. I've been going to shows since the late 80's/early 90's and I've seen the lot of "trend" dances and moshing isn't one of them. Hell I didn't even like the idea behind Anthrax's classic "Caught In A Mosh" to be honest. You say bro this and bro that. It's your feelings towards men coming out in the open. Just accept it and stop trying to be impressive with your defense of "moshing." You're not in the slightest bit smart.

  • @ilikesid Oh and the next time you call someone a noob, make sure you're older than them and you know the person. Assuming that you know all about me is even more laughable than your defense of slamming into other people as a valid form of expressing your liking of music at a show. Most of the people who go to shows point at fucking idiots like you and wonder why natural selection hasn't wiped you and your fellow "moshers" off the face of the earth yet.

  • @povkilla of course its a valid form of expession. high energy with passionate lyrics induces fun loving rough housing. i dont give a fuck if its pushing, circle pitting, or just a hectic but intimate sway in a crowd. when one falls they are picked up by the rest. some people (sorry if it isnt you) become so taken over by the music their passion shows through a rough dance. if you experience hatred or genuine violence then you are either at the wrong show or with the wrong crowd.

  • @povkilla

Wow what a pretentious retarded third-reich style answer...you where speaking of maturity??

  • @SpyanLord pretentious and retarded are just as immature as anything I said and further more third-reich?? Wow, they teach kiddies about that stuff still. I'm surprised you spelled everything in your sentence to me correctly. Can you also point out Germany on a map? If you can well then you're ahead of 99.9 percent of your peers in logic and reasoning. However, back to moshing instead of talking mad shit like you, there is nothing expressive about moshing. Slam me all you want for it.

  • @PoeticJustice05 I enjoy moshing, it's fun.

  • @PoeticJustice05 It isn't a mars volta show though is it...? It's a at the drive in show...

  • @PoeticJustice05 it wasn't a mars volta show... it was an at the drive in show... read the description before you make another sanctimonious remark.

  • @hxzxxl I get it, you're not the first one to fill me in. Thank you for being relatively mature about it. Regardless, I don't think his opinions changed when he formed The Mars Volta.

  • @PoeticJustice05 dude i agree... except "stupidest" is not a word... "most stupid" would've worked ;-)

  • @huffnat SAME HERE!!!! It's so fucking retarded. what's the point in doing it?

  • @rohan750 Because he's in a post-hardcore band.

  • @rohan750 because it's not required for you to mosh if you're in a hard rock band....

  • I was the 666 person to like. satan rules.

  • I like these guys...

  • What faggot hahahaha

  • "20 years later in this so called punk movement". What the hell does Cedric know about punk rock? Shut up and go back to making beautiful spanish noise.

  • @noonesremedy So i guess at the drive in wouldn't be considered punk rock..... bro everything both the mars volta do live is a salute to their punk rock roots....

  • @noonesremedy so i guess at the drive in wouldn't be considered punk rock..... bro everything that both at the drive in and mars volta do live is a salute to their punk roots man..... You don't have to be white with a mohawk and leather jacket to be considered punk rock.... shit one of the greatest punk rock bands out of the 80's was all black(Bad Brains) just stop looking at music thru race when you do u sound extremely ignorant

  • @Kingsheldon92 I wasnt implying that it wasnt punk rock because theyre spanish, what Im saying is go listen to the new york dolls and dead boys, the REAL punk rock, and tell me how any of these bands are really punk? Maybe they are a spawn of punk but its more or less a spawn of a spawn of a spawn of a spawn of a sub genre of punk rock. At the Drive In were some kind of alternative, maybe even post-hardcore band. I wouldnt label them as punk.

  • punk=mosh.

  • @Kalimotxication At the drive-in=not a punk band

  • @Kalimotxication punk is an attitude, not some gay trend/style you pick up from hot topic which you probably did.

  • @DennisDeeYourSavior first, Im spanish, so I cant even buy in hot topic cos we dont hav that shit here. Second you dont know me, so shut the fuck up, retarded. Third, Ive been listening to punk since I was 13, which is what defines punk, THE MUSIC, not the attitude. And last, these guys play punk on the stage, whatever they say, so if people start to mosh, its no big deal, period.

  • @Kalimotxication Really!?, first Feliz navidad. Second, my favorite punk band, The Clash, played different styles of music, so it cant be "THE MUSIC". they were considered punk because of their attitude. Even Johnny Rotten was still considered punk with PIL. third, moshing is for fags. if you dont wanna dance, then fucking stand there. by the way "Second you dont know me, so shut the fuck up, retarded" made me laugh super hard. pick up on grammar man.

  • @DennisDeeYourSavior Que te den, paso de perder el tiempo con gilipollas en internet. Cómprate una vida.

keep laughing super hard, super retarded.

  • @TeamStagedive I'm a guy and I love to rock out at concerts. But moshing is freaking gay.

  • @thefoosa72 Moshing isn't gay! Its just not what peops should do at Mars Volta show. I love these guys but moshing is for metal and metalcore.

  • @thedragon5487 its actually a punk rock think but whatever. you dont mosh at a metal show you mosh at hardcore shows.

  • @JUSTINsingyousuckbro everyone was moshing when i saw the black keys :)
