  • That was a live performance not lip synced

  • Now THAT'S a great 'stache! They never seemed to be sporting one at the same time for some reason, though. Probably a good thing. Universe woulda been out of balance ;-)

  • Paul kind of looks like Freddie Mercury.

  • The dislikes are because of that dreadful mustache..... *my sister*

  • Look at that Mustache. Beautiful.

  • thumbs up

  • @theDeckisStacked that's right

Paul Simon said 1984: "I lied. He lied. We said, "We're Simon and Garfunkel; I write the songs, Artie arranges them." We would parade that. It was a joint statement all through the Sixties. Everyone believe it, and of course it was never true."

  • @yrkanak when did he say that? I'm sure it was hard to make an equal workload with paul playing the guitar. In call me al apparently it's what simon thought of Garfunkel in the official video

  • @george535642 In a playboy interview 1984

  • when was it?

  • 11 people never left home to know what it's like to wish you were homeward bound.

  • Would like to congratulate Paul on his 56 birthday today, this song, I sat at my boy's room when I was 12-13 years. The year may have been the 1972nd There, I wrote down this song word for word, I took it to my heart and there it lives today. Congratulations!

  • So now that we're all done with this, I can go back to drooling. *watches video again*

  • @Zephyesa Okay, diehard slash fan, I think it's perfectly acceptable to think that they were in love, but seriously dude, to a point. There's no way either of them would take such ridiculous photos as you incline they did, sooooo how about we just say that the photos don't exist and if they do, keep them a secret. :3 thanks.

  • ...I'm really hating the Youtube comment section right now...

    (But I love this song!)

  • lina, this is youtube and hes a troll, what hes doing trolling on a simon and garfunkel comment page of all things is beyond me but thats how it is.

  • Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!? Haha?

  • Comment removed

  • Apparently, there are people who just enjoy stirring up crap and seeing where it goes.

  • C'mon-Art recognized he was a minor talent and recognized that Paul could go places he couldn't follow. Paul Simon is one of the musical giants of my generation. Not just for his own writing and performing, but for his world view musical sensibilities.

  • like if you get girls playing this song

  • Comment removed

  • Paul was such a little cutie.

  • widnes bound

  • @Zephyesa your english is not good.

  • @InsaneaTann that is not important

  • music that calmed the savage beast in me in times of trouble and doubt

  • ew they're so ugly who would want to listen to this

  • @titmouse0hehehe Woah. Looks now have to do with talent? o_o

  • @Vanillafx whatever i don't want to listen to music by ugly people.

  • @titmouse0hehehe THEN WHY THE HECK ARE YOU COMMENTING ON THIS?

  • @titmouse0hehehe

who the heck are you to say ? why do you even comment if you dont even like themor think thier ugly ? Stop wasting your time on commenting.. like foreal.. keep your comments to your self please. thanks (:

  • I am loving all the Artie love on this video. <33 SPREAD THE ARTIE LOVE, EVERYONE~ <3

  • not liking arts mustache here , however he is extremely sexy without it

  • art carried simon

  • @scarlette536

Oh yeah? Where would Art be without Simons Guitar play?

To say one of them carried the other is simply stupid. How much both voices needed each other was clear once they split up.

  • I like their pullovers

  • he's beautiful

  • that good im going to watch it again and again and again

  • Lonely song, but incredibly great and their best, and one of the best songs ever made by any artist.

  • well,my another listening song :)

  • Haha, Art is so cute here!! - And yes, his lips are sexy!

  • Music that speaks directly to the heart.

  • i migliori di sempre!!!!

  • garfunkel kinda looks like james franco with that stach

  • No only you, I think not only his lips but his mouth and the nice set ot teeth are just perfect for a man. He is an attraction and a distraction. His "cuspids" are too, too sexy! LOL!

  • @GBeret83...AMEN!

  • If the majority of today's artists would be asked to sing a song live the way they did it back then, they would have a nervous breakdown and call in sick before the show.

  • @cboncklis you got that right. A guitar and their incredible harmonious voices, on stage, with a mic, some lights...you get perfection.

  • @cboncklis that may be because all TV performances during 50s-60s-70s were lip-synced due to audio/video technology not being as developed as it is now ;) Yes, by that I mean that this performance was also lip-sync. Not that there would be anything wrong with that of course.

  • i love paul simon...but OMG does he look JUST like Captain Kirk in this video O.o

  • Both look handsome because of their song. They have a gifted with a good voice!!

  • When they loaded my sorry ass in a medivac flight from Vietnam they played this very song, Never got to thank Simon or Garfunkel for this song.

Oh well maybe in the next life..............

  • @DammitDrag

Dont know that they'd understand, but I lived through the period so "welcome home soldier! Glad you made it.

  • @aqx770 Thanks, Still suffering from survivors guilt, trying to cope.

  • 10 people can fuck off. simple as that

  • Yes--he he

  • Love the music but...paul simon is wearing a "wheres waldo" shirt and the facial hair on garfunkel is distracting.

  • garfunkel cracks me up

  • yes art is scary ...scary that some one can be that beautiful and sing that good

  • @MandyAboutFace: No, you are definitely not the only one who thinks Art Garfunkel's lips are sexy!

  • So cuttttttteeee :))

  • Comment removed

  • The coolest bangs ever, Paul Simon. only rivaled by that of Lenard Nimoy as Spock and Betty Page. I love the hair and the large Art fro. These guys were so good. Did they really exist. Was there music really this great & original at one point in America? Yes. Thank God.

  • they soud great, they look great

  • WOW ART IS A SCARY MUTHER

  • Garfunkel looks drunk

  • USA's bestt duet ever !!!

  • garfunkel looks like a will ferrell character

  • Well, actually . . . God said: "Let there be two-part harmony," and there was the Everly Brothers. THEN, there was Simon and Garfunkel. (Nothing against Simon and Garfunkel.)

  • @onemangarageband Thank you for giving credit where credit is due. First the Everly Brothers, then Simon and Garfunkel. I'm a big fan of S&G,but one has to acknowledge the influence of The Everly Brothers when it comes to the harmonies of S&G, as well as many others.

  • Like the muppet babies! Sorry, I'm not much younger really, but they just look so cute! :)

  • OMG they are just babies here! :)

  • I always remember my boss DIETMAR SCHUG he looks like Art as well as his voices....when he sing this song with Bobong abonwiawan here German Doctors cagayan de Oro City.Mindanao Phils

  • I love Simon and Garfunkel. They are my heros <3

I wish my friends at school would listen to them. :)

  • Am I the only one who thinks Art Garfunkel's Lips are sexy as hell? LOL

I'm not crazy about the mustache, but don't hate it either. As long as they sing, doesn't matter.

  • @MandyAboutFace Haha agreed! But the mustache doesn't do him justice.

  • @MandyAboutFace "Am I the only one who thinks Art Garfunkel's Lips are sexy as hell? LOL" A distinct possibility.

  • @MandyAboutFace hell yes his lips are sexay!

  • @MandyAboutFace As sure as I'm hetero, there is something too revealing (to me) about certain men's lips that is "too sexy." And Art Garfunkel's cause that reaction....so I guess they must be sexy.

  • @MandyAboutFace

i believe he just turned 70 the other day ;)

  • I don't think garfunkel's too bad with the mustache. He looks more like a professor or an uncle who never got married. I don't know that's just what I think of, plus before it think he looked slightly crazy. O.o loved his voice though. PS in the beginning you can see the microphone drifting on the top:)

  • I love how that before he starts singing , garfunkel's just standing there awkwardly with his hands in his pockets...:)

  • Okay now I've seen them play it with the capo on the second, third, AND fourth fret...

  • See, no auto tune.

  • I grew up listening to these guys and today as I approach 40, their songs remind me that life has been good :-)

  • when did greg brady dye his hair blond i give em credit i didnt know bobby brady could sing so good and isnt greg the one who plays the guitar?

  • Just beautiful.

  • Every time I play this song, tears just flow and flow.....home, is after all where your love lies silently waiting for you ...

  • @guavaflower1

    - "tears just flow and flow.....home, is after all where your love lies silently waiting for you ..."

Somehow this almost sounds like a quote from Al Bundy.

  • Art Garfunkel looks like he doesn't know where he is at the start.

  • It's amazing the very synchronized cadence they have. Pure greatness.

  • Any time they're together it's a thing of beauty- art in the purist form.

  • @PaddrickFancy So would I but George died 10 years ago. But he did play and sing 'Homeward Bound' with Paul Simon on Saturday Night Live and Paul was with him for 'Here comes the sun'. The performance was on Youtube but deleted.

    '

  • @idle44

    Do you mean George Harrison?

  • @jerseygirl9933

Yes, the songs re listed on IMDb under george's name. Check it out. Hope either The Harrison estate or SNL release the performances soon.

  • il sont omo

  • They're so good it hurts !

  • Great video. Guys, i made a cover of this song, from a fan to another. Please listen: ?v=cM6VQGf6G3U

  • Curly haired singer is cute!

  • @mylovesofmylife LOL that's Art Garfunkel...... I agree

  • @mylovesofmylife Art Garfunkel

  • So many times i was away and thought of this song..thank you so much..

  • Seriously? 4 people actually disliked this song?

  • Art is too beautiful for a mustache. It just doesn't do him justice. So glad he decided not to keep it.

  • They possess a peace I can only dream of. their expression gives me hope that I can be exactly myself. Thank you humanity

  • Paul Simon is the MAN! Garfunkel, you're pretty good too.

  • get over yourselves..... jeez o man!!!! too many of you sound like some "professor wannabe." a person doesn't ANALYZE this type of music, you flow with it, and it takes you away. and you cherish it, for what it is, for the beauty it brings you - sometimes smiles, sometimes tears. as for the rest of you, CHILL. and take a good hard listen. forget what they looked like. just LISTEN.

  • Two of the most talented songwriters and singers/ musicians of my lifetime, so many gifts they have given us, so many memories in song to attach to our life stories, God has blessed us with tier talent...

  • Beautiful song, and i love it. I don't know if the live performance of it or the track of it was sung first. But I love the track version. They wern't pressured by the people, and they sung it with their hearts, just like this, but it sounds like more meaning is in the track version. Nevertheless an extremely beautiful song that should still be played instead of the techno mainstream stuff thats on nowadays :,)

  • What a great song like so many others by these .

Its rare to find so many songs by the same artist the you actually like?

  • A duo as perfect sounding as the Everlys

  • Pure inspired genius...

"But all my words come back to me

    In shades of mediocrity

    Like emptiness in harmony

I need someone to comfort me"

  • PEDO MUSTACHE! love it

  • 'cause Paul is acting a little too weird

  • I first thought it was an impersonation on Saturday Night Live.

  • I do not like the mustage !

  • reminds me ov a 4 and a half stretch i got in the 90s.i played it every day

  • the video is a jewel, great performance, great song

  • pure music

  • And God said: "Let there be two-part harmony," and there was Simon and Garfunkel!!!

  • @GBeret83 GOD BLESS THE SIXTIES AND THE BABY BOOM !!

  • Comment removed

  • @michel1890, Amen to that my friend!! I'm part of the baby boom generation myself. The rock and folk music that came out of the 60's, very often, tries to be imitated. But it will never be duplicated!!!

  • @GBeret83 Thanks pal, you see it's great not to be alone, keep rolling buddy ! my kids & grand kids envy our Generation (the Who !) cheers..

  • @GBeret83 Couldn't agree more...

  • @GBeret83 And then God said let there be big hair and dodgy moustaches lol and then he realised that his greatest harmony creation had already been created - The Everly Brothers.

  • @GBeret83 He actually got it right earlier with the Everly brothers.

  • @GBeret83 man,you took thw words from my fingers

  • @GBeret83 I couldn't agree more... :) grew up with the music of Simon & garfunkel.... timeless

  • @GBeret83 Well said.

  • @GBeret83 and in retaliation the devil made robson and jerome

  • Art does not at all look better with a mousch. God. Neither does Paul for that matter, but it was really awful on Art.

    Oh well.

  • @Jouwl Do you think they shared it? :oD

  • @sonjonbobis

    Yes, yes I do.

  • @Jouwl who cares??

  • @plntygood

At least 2 human beings care.

  • @Jouwl I remember that paul Simon mostache he looked like a short version of freddie mercury

  • A group like this would be considered "gay" in a derogatory sense which is so sad... In part, this is why music is not as good right now. Luckily, it has been getting better as of late amongst hidden corners of groups not afraid of expressing beauty, and true emotion of all types... Let's hope that more people have the courage to do so...

  • @ttinsly what a dumb thing to say. Who considers them gay? You? Or that is just your perception of what others would think? How do you know? Anyone with a brain knows they are just good music plain and simple, and for those who don't, who cares?

  • Who is the original singers of this song? Peter and Gordon or Simon & Garfunkel?

  • @bee52mitch Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon wrote this in 1965.

  • schwuler gehts nicht.

  • Theres nothing like these two, what a fantastic pair, The voices match in pitch and tone perfectly, It was a great time for music at that time, And Art looks totally different with the stash' I dont remember to many with it. Great song great band thanks again for posting, sub'd ya, rated, saved, looking to friend where is that button HELP.

  • Love the harmonies on this song. I could listen to Garfunkel do his little oooooh, ooooohs all day. They were/are great

  • written at widnes train station near warrington!

  • Simon And Garfunkel are just amazing . Soothing music to listen to , and amazing artists . I hope their music goes on from generation to generation . I love them <3

  • thats a sweet mustache

  • @Glarium1 It makes him look remarkably like Chris Hillman.

  • beautiful song

  • There used to be a plaque at WIDNES NORTH railway station , where paul simon wrote this classic, Does anybody know where it went too. ???????????

  • Comment removed

  • I never knew Art Garfunkel grew a mustache! I knew Paul Simon did!

  • Normally 2 guys singing next to eachother I would deem gay, but its the only song I can listen to when driving my 74 Challenger..(same era)

  • wouaw les pulls !! en tous cas je les adore , quelles voix !

  • I'm sure glad they locked up Art for a little weed when alcohol's legal.

What a menace to society that guy was, eh? Thank you Mr. Police Officer.

  • Where my music...

  • this is when music made you feel good inside, at least it does me. S&G songs take me to my happy place.

  • infinity

  • I reckon these 2 legends are the inspiration for Bert and Ernie.

  • Aah, so sweet.

  • Brilliant! I long for this kind of music. Don't see it much nowadays.

  • They're both so goofy looking and awkward, it's almost endearing :) To this day, they're still unbelievably amazing singers.

  • Simon and Garfunkel are heroes

  • This song is gorgeous. These two definitely have some of the best harmony I've ever heard.

  • Art donning a moustache!......all the while a great tune!

  • omg yes.. yes yes!

  • that s muppets show man!!!

  • When you think about it. If you know Paul wrote this song in Northern England (not far from George Harrison BTW) then it makes perfect sense. All the towns look the same to him and me, and to most of us.

  • @idle44 Widnes to station to be exact

  • @idle44 Anyone who travels for work frequently in any capacity (entertainment, sales, distribution, etc) recognizes the impact of this phrase. When you're going from hotel room to boardroom or concert hall, from airport to diner/McDonalds/roadside stand, and you've been on the road for any length of time, the towns all begin to blend together. You're not "in" the town or "of" the town, you're "at" the town. Even more true today with malls, big box stores and chains dominating the landscape.

  • So beautiful, it makes me cry. The harmony was perfect! I miss good harmony, like our family has, can hardly wait to be homeward bound...

  • I just wish nowadays there were more artists like them. Maybe they're out there, but they're certainly not coming out of my radio! By the way, nice Stache, Art!

  • @PoutinePete google The Lower 48, its what your looking for

  • @benbradenstein Dude The Lower 48 is incredible thanks for getting me into them
