May and June and late August thru the end of September. It is open to fishing the last Saturday In April to the last day in September. there are new regulations this year that is artificial lures/flies only this yr,check the dnr's inland trout regulation guide
wow i remember watching this on michigan out of doors and i always tried to find it to fish it but nobody would tell me where it is i fish yates for steel in the spring alot if you dont mind can you tell me where that park is and what it is called possibly some crossroads if not thats ok great video and good luck fishing tight lines
Both nymphs and dries work well on the creek. just depends on conditions and time of the season. x caddis parachute adams march brown pattterns work well on the creek to name a few. The Paint is mostly Browns but you will get a good # of Rainbows too.
I know its not the only trout stream in SE Michigan. The lower huron gets some steelhead and the upper huron gets a put and take stocking every april. The clinton and some its branches get steelhead smolt stocking annually and there are a few other streams and tribs that hold some numbers of trout. The point of the story was to point out the Paint is a 50% naturally reproducing/50% stocking stream and its the the closest to being a classic up north trout stream in the S.E. Michigan area.
im born and raised in rochester and i fish paint alot and the first hole you were at i caught a 10 inch rainbow trout on a mayfly and my friend landed three brown trout in one day also u should try fishing behind the rochester library friends and i caught a bunch of brooks and browns do you fish anywere else on the paint besides the park

What is your favorite nymph and dry fly to use??? And steamer???
flyfisher4life1 1 year ago
@flyfisher4life1 any bead head nymph works good and for a dry i like using an x caddis #14 in tan.use a small woolly bugger for a streamer

What type of fish was your biggest in paint creek and what type of trout was it.

14" brown was my best but there are bigger trout in the creek. it is a limited resource so catch and release helps Paint Creek alot!
