Shit.......thats one of the reasons i got out. I dont regret enlisting, but I felt that my time was up, because i got tired of taking orders after 8 years.
My space was allowed on the DOD server until a Lt. at Ft. Gordon hung himself and left a suicide note/video (showing all the excessive drunkenness and shit life soldiers lived at at Gordon) but they could only block the DOD server until now, now they are starting to block some sites on certain bases even in the barracks. Fuck the war in Iraq....is it worth all those good people dying??? No its not! --USMC/US Army 8 yrs

One of the most important duties soldiers have, which has always been recognized by the US military, is the soldier's obligation to question and/or disobey orders which are illegal and immoral.
@1factoid im currently stationed on fort benning in the army and stuck with whether i should stick out my last remaining years (while the country burns) or just simply go home (before its too late). i want to be there to protect my family who is over a thousand miles away, but i don't want to abandon my unit or my post. it seems like a lost cause to stay here when the government and its masters have already won (they have destroyed the currency, the manufacturing base, the moral and work ethic).
CNN are bunch of fucking liars, all they did when we were over in Iraq is look for negative coverage. You will not see one supportive story from those bastards. If I had my way I would bar them from entering the country.
these military members need to sit down and shut up.. "always place mission first, never quit, never accept defeat, never leave a fallen commrade behind"
Actually the average military member is probobly more in tune with what is happening throughout the world than most civilians. Newspapers are plentiful and the news is comprehensive. The issue that they don't allow antimilitary sentiment as a regular issue is understandable as a morale factor. Kinda like working for McDonalds and having to read anti McDonald views to make sure the workers understand what they do.
Sensorship & propaganda occurs on Armed Forces Radio too. They've been airing Rush Limpballs, Dr.(of Biology) Laura, & Focus on the Family (more like Focus on Misogyny & Homophobia) for years. About 2 years ago, some of us campaigned to get Ed Schultz on. Gen. Wesley Clark even got involved. I hope more military personnel follow their consciences rather than unquestioning obedience to the Fuehrer as he leads them into unjust first-strike wars & occupations!
Gen. Grange explained brilliantly, the suppressing of free flow of ideas among the military, and substituting propaganda, in order to control their actions. This ideology is near-universal in US military, consistent with a worldview of physical force and domination model. It's bankrupt; doesn't work.
How can Reed be so two-faced? He's critical of Bush and critical of troops who support what Reed himself says below...

War Critics See New Resistance by Bush
By JIM RUTENBERG December 26, 2006
..."Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, a former Army ranger who is a member of the Armed Services Committee, said, ... "I think the American people's message was deep concern about Iraq, deep skepticism about his policies, and what they want is a resolution of Iraq,"

The ONLY reason they care about morale is because it is a force multiplier.
