  • "The butter wouldn't melt, so I put it in the pie!" - Severus Snape

  • wicked tune....♥

  • A legend from the best show to ever be on this earth. Ps modern pos artists are fake and use the equivilent of effects pedals on the mic

  • Macartney at his most magical. If anyone could have kept the Beatles together it was John. He would have been in on this. I love the guy but he was abit of a fool on the hill at times.

  • 44 people are obviously dysfunctional and can't follow tempo changes!

  • "Hands across the water,,, Heads across the sky" Those are two of the simplest lyrics ever, but the emotion and power he puts behind them makes this song a true gem. One of my favorite Sir Paul tunes.

  • great.

  • nothing makes me feel better than listening to one of the fab four....

    Some fucking music they made

  • @rockchickfairy I would amend that statement to "Some AWESOME fucking music they made"

  • hands across the water... heads across the sky !!

  • nice!!!!!!

  • My name is Albert and i found this very FUCKIN' AWESOME.

  • whats a dislike?

  • This came out a year after the demise of the Beatles I was 11 when this came out and was a major hit at my summer camp Everyone sang it all summer long!!!!!!

  • @rockersmitty1960 I was 9 that summer, lying in bed late at night with a big old AM radio in the loft of my grandparents' cottage, turning the knob back and forth but always stopping on this song.

  • i like the part after the slow part the most, espesalilly "Hands across the water"

  • Los genios no deben morir. Salvador Dalí.

  • The "Underwater" effects McCartney uses was way ahead of its time as well as the "Rain" Effect..Before,rain never was captured on tape without much success!

  • Normally, i'm a huge bealtes fan, but this just doesn't strike a cord with me a most of their other stuff. Hell, normally i love McCartney's stuff, i love yesterday, this is just not one of my favorites. still, a good song though.

  • How do you sleep' was a reply to "Too many people" from McCartney-I didn't think it went further than that-if so Paul did a terrible job! John's like"huh?"

  • this was pauls reply to john lennon's how do you sleep

  • @0141hraiser really? i had no idea. i have always thought it was a great song with lyrics that don't really mean much. funny.

  • justin bieber really writes music like this in private!!

  • people's attention spans are too short today for this to be pop music!!

  • This song always get me in a great mood.

  • Great song

  • The butter wouldn't melt, so I put it in the pie!

  • Interesting little genre of music......like a little rock opera within a song.....like Band on the Run which came later.

  • Is it Linda who says the higher pitched, 'Butter pie"? Please let me know. Thanx!

  • August 1971 to September 1971.......basic training Ntc Orlando......heard this song on the radio during down time, and it has stuck with me ever since.........

  • I have never heard the lyrics of this song until now! I am familiar with Freddie Hubbards version!

  • esta version es unica e inmortal viva mc cartney

  • @Forastero1059 TU SI SABES FORASTERO1059 SALUDOS MIL PULGAR ARRIBA PARA TI Y BENDICIONES.

  • the wings have flown 2 heaven and back 9 times!

  • the butter wouldn't melt so I put it in a pie !?

  • greenberg nuff said

  • I don't know why...but all through the years this song just stops me in my tracks. Doesn't matter how many times I've heard it. Especially the Uncle Albert part. I guess it's just that great!!! Thanks for posting! ~KStKing

  • love this song

  • This song is like random thoughts all rolled together . and it works !

  • What does this song mean?

  • @edadan2009 I think it means Paul was having a goof and a good time and made an awesome song that's just fun.

  • @edadan2009 " Butterpie ".... Just another whimsical " feel good " song by Paul.

  • @mrstevehartman

Yeah, it takes me back to my childhood. I remember listening to this song and just sort of drifting away - if you know what I mean:)

  • @edadan2009 Yeah, the summer of 71... Life was better !

  • If I had butter that didn't melt, I'd prolly throw it out instead of using it in a pastry xD It is clearly not normal butter lol.

  • hands across the water, heads across the sky <3

  • my uncle ben was on one of those huey transports evacuating saigon back in 72 he told me that they BLASTED this song on the speakers as they lifted off from the u s embassy back to freedom. uncle ben passed away last week and we BLASTED this song as we lowered him into freedom...selah.

  • i have no idea what this song is talking about, but i remember it as a child, so therefore i love it :)

  • McCartney's a musical genius pure and simple!!

  • @teldar2009 tru dat

  • @teldar2009 I concur but he sodomised a turtle with a pair of rusty chopsticks

  • 2:18 that beat has been in my head all day!!!!

  • The Beatles and Paul McCartney are now and always will be the greatest musicians of all time

  • @haunting2012 I totally disagree they were a bunch of dirty hippies and drink eachothers urine to get a buzz. scandless.

  • @haunting2012 you may be right

  • 43 people don't know what real music is!!

  • The best Wings. Uncle Albert. Can't get this one off my mind and I am a Country Singer. I love Paul & LInda. And Wngs. Hands across the Water.......

  • don't feed the troll

  • @ps3master72 If you don't like it, don't watch it.

  • @ps3master72 Fuck your sentimental reaction!!! What about this musical Composition do you highly dislike about it?

  • Long ago,he was a great tallent-now just an obnocious billionare who marries young girls.

  • @garebear1015 His wife is 51 or 52...I'd say she would definitely object to being called a young girl. And he's still a great talent. Go listen to Electric Arguments.

  • ...teenage memories. :)

  • Yes and his Brother Phil McCraken filled in nicely.

  • Eh the song don't get good until 2:16 but when it hits there, oh baby it takes off!

  • @MoDzfromGoDz Really? That's an interesting opinion. I think the whole song deserved a round of applause.

  • I love Linda's voice on backing vocals and on the oohs and ahhs.

  • 3:03 que dice? tomorrow in the...........jack sparrow? eso es lo que alcanzo escuchar

  • Sheer brilliance, there has never been another songwriter/performer as brilliant as Paul McCartney and in my opinion there never will be,the man is so talented it is just not possible to think of anyone better,Uncle Albert Admiral Halsey is just great, always reminds me of the episode of Only Fools and Horses where they used it as background music while searching for Uncle Albert who had been missing .Lovely stuff.

  • Ram was Abbey Road vol. 2. None of the other 3 came so close to Beatles quality during their solo carreers.

  • @letosvet1 well i offer up All Things Must Pass...maybe not your cup of tea but awesome album ! I wont mention any John albums beacuse if you are completely sold on Paul then a Lennon album wont be your cup of tea either !! CHeers, love em all

  • @fuzzypige222 I'm not saying these aren't good albums but that they don't match the beatles in the way that they don't sound like them. When the 4 beatles got together and played, it always created "that" special sound. Any of the 4 beatles has done at least one fantastic album but on ram paul is the only beatle who manages to recreate the genius-sound of the four on his own. Listen to the record : it actually sounds like the medley.

  • @fuzzypige222 It's like if i didn't know better, if someone told me uncle albert is a beatles song, I would believe him. All things must pass or imagine or whatever, they just sound so personal. Listening to them, it's all george and it's all john. Ram is beyond that. That's why it's genious. And it's all the more unique because paul has never done such a phenomenal album again. Band on the Run is paul. Ram is beatles.

  • I have an uncle named Albert. Anyways good song.

  • simple mente lloro esta rola la oigo desde pequeño

  • Who cares what the minute details and meaning of the song are? Just listen and let it mean whatever it means to you.

  • Hi.

  • SO Cleese! My story per this song is as endearing as it gets. Uber-meta as 'twere. wanna hear it?

  • A rotax etec 2 stroke turbo!

  • Is this about Admiral Bull Halsey. i am a Navy Vet of the 70"s ?

  • @frank02111 I understand that is indeed the Admiral Halsey in the song--not sure why a World War II admiral wound up in a Paul McCartney song of the early 70s. I can't really pick up any particular story or meaning in the lyrics--I still enjoy the song though.

  • @DandAinTac The whole song is WWII dont u think? No one left at home (dead or at war on continent), going to rain (cry), so sorry, havent heared a bloody thing all day (melancholy sets in; waiting by phone for news on loved ones - millions died), kettles on the boil, so easily called away (to war), hands across the water and sky (bombing raids on German cities), butter pie (butter was rationed so this indicates privilege), be a gypsy (get out of Coventry, Liverpool, London -your home bombed)

  • @origin8 That is really a brilliant explanation of this song. Excellent interpretation and a better explanation than Paul has ever given. And isn't this song and all of Ram absolutely brilliant.

  • @origin8 Admiral Halsey is the guy who, after the Japanese had surrendered, said "Cessation of hostilities. War is over. If any Japanese airplanes appear, shoot them down... in a friendly way." He was kind of like the British Patten. They loved the guy.

  • @singinginthepain oh dear - like he was not really that sorry there hadn't been any news all day... thanks!

  • favorite part 0:00 to 4:55

  • i've been playing the 'be a gypsy' part over and over for the past ten minutes

  • @StudioScarecrow That's my favorite part, too! I always expect him to sing it again at the end.

  • One of many hits Paul had on the radio and he wrote one of the best songs ever created called HELTER SKELTER.

  • <3 all the likes :D . 42 people have on scene What so ever! D:

  • What an impact this man had made on my 52 years on this earth. From the time I was a liitle kid hearing Paul's distinctive voice on the Beatle songs to all the great stuff afterwards.

  • Love it . Linda made all the difference to his music!!!!!

  • Amazing song that you never get tired of. It puts you at ease and lets all the great memories of 1971 just flow in!

  • I just game to this video to say that the thumbnail looks like Paul McCartney wearing a blue mustache. That is all.

  • Just goes to show you that a 15 year old can like this music.

  • @oatmeal1321 Attention Whore. I'm 5 and I listen to this music. Don't try to get any younger than me.

  • @ActionMcKickass What did she say?! And are u 5?

  • @Silverstag89 Fuck yes, I'm 5. I don't listen to that "Wheels on The Bus" mainstream shit, which makes me better than all those other fags who do.

  • @ActionMcKickass your casual homophobia is telling.

  • @pckthooks133 Your casual faggotness is telling. Fag.

  • @ActionMcKickass you're five and say fuck shit and fags?

  • @ctait96 Fuck your shit fag.

  • @ActionMcKickass haha you're such an embarrassment.

  • a reminder of my childhood

  • @Unscented196555 riding in the car with mom music

  • @flurbexx going camping with my parents...ram on cassette for the win!

  • uncle albert, musical papaverine.

  • Makes me and a lot others happy to be around.

  • Can you imagine if the BeatLes stayed together...for oh maybe 5 or 10 more years....all the best Paul and John and George ( All things must pass) and Ringo songs for those few years released as BeatLes albums !!!!!! Maybe one album a year with 4 songs from Paul, 4 from John, 3 from George and 1 from Ringo....and a couple of wild cards !!!!!

  • @Neverever325 same here, it would've made the album even better. I think he had written this song beforehand, and after they broke up just decided to put it out.

  • I always thought this was a Beatles song untill I saw it here on Youtube. It seems to fit in with A day in the Life and Sgt Pepper's to me. Same dreamy surrealism.

  • I like that "CKRK CKRK..CKRK CKRK" sound around 1:15 :D

  • I have been humming that flugelhorn solo all day. So has my little sister who isn't even really a McCartney fan. It's incredibly catchy and memorable, and I love it!

I listened to Ram this morning, and I have to say, it's the most incredibly joyous album I have ever heard. If you listen to it and don't come away smiling, you must be dead!

  • This is the happiest fucking song I've ever heard in my entire life, I seriously feel like I'm about to burst with joy every time I listen to it.

    HAAAAAAAAAAAANDS ACROSS THE WATERR!!!

    (WATER!)

    HAAAAAAAAAAAANDS ACROSS THE SKY

  • 40 people didn't have a berth so they couldn't get to sea.

Paul just had another look and had a cup of tea.....

    Oh, and a butter pie.

  • THE BUTTER WOULDN'T MELT SO I PUT IT IN THE PIE

  • @steventylersmitten2 I've always wondered what was being said and this time I was looking at your message when the lyrics came on and I now get it. Thanks. ;-)

  • george harrisons mothers family were called French & they were Irish, which u can hear him say himself at the start of the beatles anthology

  • I remember this song from when i was in grade school! Love it!

  • 40 people don't know what music is...and that makes me sad :(

  • like this status if you think this should have been WITH the beatles??? like the last song they did... because i swear i hear john in there....

  • @butihum3 i know... lol people now need to learn the virue of patience... and ... good music... :)

  • 40 years have gone by since this was on the radio--summer 1971

  • The first couple of minutes have an eerie similarity to Pink Floyd's DSOTM.

  • ty paulie for this one....if some way your read this. seriously thanks!

  • Im sorry uncle Albert! Forgive me?

  • Comment removed

  • Hugh McCracken's beautiful guitar work on this song blended perfectly with McCartney's uncanny medlodic talent. One of the best ever by Macca...

  • @AnotherPaul1 It also fit beautifully with the Fagen stuff. He's just a good player. Very similar to McCartney, who I think is a freak. He is a once in a generation type. His piano playing is as good as his bass playing.

  • Flashbacks...BIG TIME!!!!!

  • what a fucking genius

  • @purpleskycalm Stop saying FUCK you fuking fuck
