@BrothaKyo I just saw the level from the game. The whole level is a blatant space harrier ripoff. Albeit, the graphics are a welcome update.

I guessthe programmers decided that it was either this, or have her running along a green checkered landscape with loops and barrel rolls collecting gold rings being stalked by a flying fox with two tails.

I feel as though arcade games of the 80's and 90's will forever hold a place in my heart and I'm sure many others feel the same. That arcade games simply vanished because of home entertainment systems.. For the people wondering why there are so many little nods to Sega arcade games like Super Hang On, Afterburner, Space Harrier, E-Swat and Sonic, Hideki Kamiya said that he grew up in Japanese arcades playing Sega's arcade games and he wanted Bayonetta to be a celebration of Sega's history. Bayonetta is a awesome game and a tribute to Sega's wonderful legacy and a nod to the future which includes Bayonetta who joins Sega's great franchises.

Hideki Kamiya, the guy behind Bayonetta, is a huge fan of Sega's arcade library. There's a lot of references to Sega titles, such as a level based on Super-Hang On with the Afterburner Theme song blaring in the background, and then there's the level where this song is played, which is basically a remake of the first stage of Space Harrier. Same enemy patterns and everything.
