  • Just to let peeps know The Violets released an EP recently and word on the grape vine is that they have an album coming out this year. Si from the violets is part of the Sisters too, he is Dr Avalanche at the mo and has been for a while. And for the record yes the sisters tour but they haven't actually released anything in some time. As for their Islington show, check out the DV8, York show :)

  • @notaras1985: cool story bro.

  • @stevobath: Cool story bro.

  • great band

  • @mrbelmont2000: Also, if you 'were' back in the day involved with the scene you would know that they added insult to injury by not playing with bands such as Sunshine Blind for being 'too Gothic'. So, in retrospect, yes the early releases of Sisters of Mercy are classic and essential as well as excellent pieces of art by themselves, however what they became is a pale and pathetic shadow of what they originated as and are a joke to those who cherish the true gothic art. Sorry if you see different

  • @mrbelmont2000: I don't know what area you came from or how long you've been in the scene, but yes the Sisters are extremely 'played out', sorry, to disappoint you but it's true. They are overrated and stagnant in comparison to far more overlooked bands such as this. So yes, they are burned out, especially since they have absolutely no respect for the fan base that listen to them, i.e. Gothic and Deathrock fans.

  • @ElegyofMadeline Have you seen this band recently? Fucking atrocious. I really think that this is the only decent track they made. The rest was second rate pop. They made one shit album that did NOTHING.As for the Sisters being 'burnt out' they still tour CONSTANTLY & release knew stuff regularly.Just cause theyre not in the public eye in certain countries doesnt mean theyre dead. If you really think this band is so good, take a look at their Islington 2011 performance.DIRE!

  • This & Mauritia Mayer by Sex Gang Children. Best 'Goth' tracks of 80s.This pisses over The Sisters, even though the Violets never released anything else that was much cop.IMO!

  • @KabbalahWestCoast - AbuCihan said surpassing ... hence my response. I still say this is a great song.

  • is it just me or did this song not always have a piano solo in the middle? is there another version of this song somewhere.

  • @RobZandy there is another version

  • @RobZandy Yeah, this is the Extended version, which was never played anywhere as it's not as good as the normal one. It's on the 12" single.

  • @RobZandy yes, it was the long 12" version with a golden snake skin album cover.

  • @Shards013: way better than the played out sisters

  • @ElegyofMadeline the sisters are classic and what do you maen played out? Goth is an underground subculture so technically none of these bands are that burned

  • @ElegyofMadeline how the fuck can you dare such a comparison. that's blasphemy.

  • so good.. i run it back and listen.. a second time.. .. bad ass bad bass

  • Great, and now they have reformed we can expect some great stuff!!

  • @evagarth WHAT?? we get MORE?? YEAAAAAAH

  • Glad I rediscovered these guys here. Smashing!

  • The lead singer, now looks like the actor Topol from Fiddler on the Roof!...Wicked song.I think its the best they recorded.Think the rest of their stuff is quite boring...Just listen to the Saturday Superstore drivel !

  • The lead singer, now looks like the actor Topol from Fiddler on the Roof!...Wicked song.I think its the best they recorded.Think the rest of their stuff is quite boring...

  • goth rocks !!!!!!!

  • Not surpassing the Sisters but a great support act for them.

  • @Shards013 who said surpassing? all good!

  • The March Violets were . . . just the best, even surpassing the Sisters . . .

  • @AbuCihan I wouldn't go quite that far!

  • @AbuCihan You can't compare Eldritch's voice with this band singers

  • Wonderful days - shite I feel old but it's like yesterday.

  • awesome....that's all there is to be said!

  • I lived next door to si

  • Ahh the good old days ! I remember seeing them at the Croydon Underground club in the mid eighties, great band.

  • @leveller661 Now I don't feel so bad about saying that I saw them in Portsmouth in the eighties! Grannies? They were the support act, I think... but can't recall who the main act were.
