I'm pretty sure it's just a pedal connected to something else. The pedal is just there to give control of the wah from whatever equipment it may be he's using, and if I'm wrong, then that is the thinnest pedal I've ever seen.

"Divide" is about being seperated or different from SOCIETY. To be an individal. Not to follow trends so much. In the Obama video, he meant that it's good to come together, to support a good cause.
