Hello, I am 14 years old and my Father and brother were both serving with the British army in Afghanistan :( And sadly I lost both of them on the same day, Nobody respects them or even shows that they cared for them, we dont have ceramonies like this in England. I try so hard to carry on with life and move on but I cant! I am failing everything at school and miss them terrably and really want to sign up when I leave school but my mother wont let me. While I have nothing but the utmost respect for ALL soldiers, regardless of their nationality, I do think America starts and propagates unneccessary wars. Iraq is an example..well, you may argue that Saddam is a dictator, and we are freeing ppl..fair enough..so why are you not in Zimbabwe, North Korea, Cuba, many other african countries, which are reeling under ruthless dictatorships? It is for resources. where was US when genocides happened in Rwanda, Cambodia? millions died..where was US?

My great grandpa and my grandpa's brother was in battling in war in Germany. My great grandpa died in WWII but my grandpa's brother got cancer and died. My grandpa is now having the same cancer as his brother and will be passin away in spring. Rest in Peace.

They are just a bunch of loud mouthed cowards. I lost a best friend to PTSD and if you learn the truth, these deaths are a manipulation from our current government who is willing to let you die in a fraudulent war, we have been manipulated to fight wars that never existed. Being an injured Veteran's Nurse, I know this war is bringing home more "alive" but more severely wounded. There are more amputees coming home (Thank God).....What I'm not sure is as good is those who come home "brain injured". This modern war is known most for "amputees" and "brain injured" like Vietnam was Agent Orange. The cost of war is high thank God for our Veterans and Soldiers who give each citizen a blank check with their lives for love of country. God bless each of YOU!

War is hell-the mechanics of war have changed radially in the past 50 years. Our men and women in service are forever changed. My heart breaks for them in their suffering, but I know they will do their duty. How selfess is that? Would you throw your Iphone and Starbucks on the street to save a homeless man from being hit by a bus?? Probably not-they would though.God bless our soldiers, wherever they are. I think you're idealizing them a bit too much. Most of them, I think, are just men and women who had no other choice than to join the army. Or scared kids who didn't know what they'd gotten themselves into.
Not all of them are even good people. There are those that take advantage of the people they're "saving;" abusing physically or sexually, simple bullying, etc. But I guess that's going to happen in any war-zone.
Anyway, my point is that they're just people. Not heroes; at least not ALL....
