Another reason that they didn't agree to the shaving deal was the fact that these gentlemen are enormously successful financially, and certainly didn't need the money. However, if they had agreed to have their beards shaved for the $1 million, whether they decided to grow them again or not, it would only have been another part of the lore that is the Texan icon ZZ Top.

It's just embarrassing, but in a way cool, how big companies like that and all the media whores can't handle the fact that some people like ZZ Top just do what they wanna do, look how they wanna look and just rock out. It's something they'll never understand or appreciate, and to be honest, who the fuck needs them.

@CystVonCysor I'd argue that they LOOK the way they do because they do care what people think. The big beards came along and their whole image changed in the 80s to shift from a 70s rock band to an MTV era band. Not that I'm criticizing--it was savvy marketing on their part. But they definitely cared about being famous and making money. Thus all the videos.

Saw him with Roky Erickson . wish he would do another with Lanier Greig , saw them at Love Street great sound . still dig Salt Lick and Miller's Farm . Getting back to the roots . would be cool. Common on man nothen left to prove , Blues in B , when is that comment out. Still lurking in Houston , well back again . Dusty and Frank are the best Rhythm section out there good as Cream . Stick Lanier in for a few songs the dude can still play better then ever . Flash Back to the Max.

Just got paid was my first time hearing them Totally blown away thought at first they were 4-5 piece band then found out just played in Chattanooga Tn a total of about 400 people at McCllean Gym In late 72 or 73 i saw them n Chatt about 700 hund people Dusty was bouncing his rig up and down the stage playn so loud and intense Frank playn a great silver ? Gretch kit I may have seen Pearly? Gibbons was kickn ass too. We were Standn elbows on stage that close, next year Lagrange & rest is history

The first guitarist to give me cold chills was Chuck Berry. Then, I went a long time without hearing anyone, that tapped right smack dab in the core of me until - I heard Sharp Dressed Man. When I heard that I was like: "WHO IN THE HELL IS PLAYING THAT GUITAR!?!?!" I've been a Billy and ZZ fanatic ever since. I bought the Greatest Hits after that, and I said: " Damn,I like song 1, I like song 2, song three's good, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,­16,17 AND 18 TOO!!!!!
