One of the THE great guitar solos, from Brian Robertson. Such a shame that he never made more of his career. After leaving Lizzy he made a couple of sub-par albums with Wild Horses, a decent effort with Motorhead, then....pretty much nothing apart from a bit of touring with Frankie Miller. A real waste of talent if you ask me. Nice bloke, just likes the whisky a bit too much.

Me and my Friends had also a band going and Phil listened to our tapes in his Tourbus an we had a beer together . Never met such a gentle and charismatic guy then Phil. God bless him !!
Phil,I met you once in Dublin when I was a little boy,I'll never forget that smile and how gentle you were with me,you are missed and will never be forgotten.RIP.
Everytime i hear this song...it still touches me deep inside. Phil, Robert, Gorham n Downey were Thin Lizzy's best combination. Nobody can replace this set. RIP Phil, u r always remembered.
I remember buying "Live and Dangerous" in the summer of 1980 and I absolutely swooned over this song. Every single time I hear it, even today, it sends chills up and down my spine. The tip of the top, Phil. You were ever the artist. Rest in peace, my dear.
:´( fawseome song!!! best song ever and for ever my favorite!! so sad phill had to go so soon... miss you my friend, thin lizzy was never the same without you, you gave it the magic!!
Man Brian could play the guitar, I love that little transition he plays coming out of the first lead, at 4:18, but Gorham is so clean and has such a great guitar sound, i bet it was a big deal to land a gig with this great band, the guitars doubling up, it just doesn't get any better.
Saw this tour in '77 ...at Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas. Graham Parker opened. They closed half the place off due to lack of attendance and Thin Lizzy TORE IT UP!!!!! Still smile thinking of that night and telling my friends at HS about who I'd seen.

Ultimate soundtrack for going down in flames. Phil's own take on "My heart ain't in it , but I'll hold the door". Ballad of unmatched power and beauty, the word majestic comes to mind.
I just bought Live and Dangerous but the version that is on the CD is not this version and I'm very upset!! I thought I would get this version which is amazing - can anyone explain why this is and where can I get this version???
This video is from the Live & Dangerous concert dvd. The L&D album is compiled from about 3 different concerts, none of them being this particular show at the Rainbow Theatre. They might be different, but they're pretty much identical, and I think the solo is better on the album. Robbo was well known for not really playing the exact same solo each time.
rarely do you get a bunch of people with so much passion and talent, for that i am more than thankful, for this song and this music i cant describe the feeling, amazing everytime, wish i wasnt born in 1993 and i had the chance to see phil work his magic!
an absolutely epic track from one of the greatest albums i will ever own. bought it at Our Price years ago. Fantastic band. still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. guitars being played the way they are supposed to be, the thin lizzy way...
@TheRebelmisfit arrhh you are yorkshiretractor !!the way you speak (like dirt ) gives YOU UP !!!can't fool me ARSE!!!you are ONE crazy dude LOL !!and pinfolder as BACKUP !WTF !!now i'm tears with laughter .
Are you Freaking kidding me.This is one of my all time top ten.Not by genre. Not by mood.Top ten EVERYTHING song.A MASTERPIECE.I mean....this is guitar guided by GOD
@Lastofthehighkings14....Thanx my man for clearing this up! I did "ax" around and that is pretty much what was said back to me as well. Truly I not lose any sleep over this but fo sho I must keep my online street cred up to snuff if possible. Smiling and ~~~waving~~~from Armpit, Ohio
@Yankiejunkie...not sure what FTW means...but since an exclamation point is included...I shall ROCK AND OR ROLL with it. RUSH not care either.....after the Hall of Fame has chit on them enough...All Three just Smile as they Flip a Canadian Bird At the Hall. Rock On ALL
@JosephMSmithMusic...THAT is hilarious!! Saw Thin Lizzy first time as opening act for my favorite band RUSH...even Geddy said to the crowd how blown away they were by The Lizzys....was a Classic Arena show fo sho...Miss Lynott...missing the music he never got to "finish" !

Phil - Magical honey voice of a true rocker
Brian - over rated piss head/druggy falling over his fretboard..
Scott - Amazing feel, ear and a pleasure to listen to his sound and was also a heavy drug user
Brian Downey - never missed a beat, enjoyed the odd niff of snow
So the message here is keep away from the booze but drug it up ;o)

I saw Phil Lynott at the Marquee Club in London just months before he died, when he was trying to launch his new band, Grand Slam, I think they were called. A very sad sight - the charisma, the vitality and, it appeared, the talent all gone. A good advertisement for staying off the drink and drugs. This is how I would prefer to remember him, an achingly beautiful song, sung from the heart.

an absolutely epic track from one of the greatest albums i will ever own. bought it at Our Price years ago. Fantastic band. still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. guitars being played the way they are supposed to be, the thin lizzy way...
