  • phil when he sings this song the hairs on the back of my neck stand up !!!!! awesome !!!!!!

  • epic song

  • What the hell happend to the music scene?

We used to have good radio station, good bands, records stores, etc . . .

I can't even play the radio anymore.

  • my fav song!

  • This is what real music sounds like.

  • This song never fails to move me. One of the truly great ballads EVER.

RIP, Phil. We miss you. :(

  • Lizzy were one of the last great bands, theres no band today that even comes close.

I was a teen in the 70s, man I miss those days, Musically we were spoilt.

If I had a choice win the lottery or go back to the 70s, guess which I would chose.

  • @ramjet300 A piece of time that will never be repeated. It can never be replaced by money. I'm going back.

  • I hope my friend "FORSAKEN" sees this

    i <3 you

  • One of the THE great guitar solos, from Brian Robertson. Such a shame that he never made more of his career. After leaving Lizzy he made a couple of sub-par albums with Wild Horses, a decent effort with Motorhead, then....pretty much nothing apart from a bit of touring with Frankie Miller. A real waste of talent if you ask me. Nice bloke, just likes the whisky a bit too much.

  • I just love this song and I never get tired hearing or playing it, no matter who plays it.

It's just such a classic song. Lizzy were a great great band, and Phil was a freakin legend.

  • wat een zeiknummer!

  • 38 haven't a cock...

  • Still sends a shiver down my spine

  • still dont no ??

  • This was when guitarists told stories with their solos

  • can i suck your dick? god some of the comments arent that far off

  • Phil - Magical honey voice of a true rocker

Brian - over rated piss head/druggy falling over his fretboard..

Scott - Amazing feel, ear and a pleasure to listen to his sound and was also a heavy drug user

Brian Downey - never missed a beat, enjoyed the odd niff of snow

So the message here is keep away from the booze but drug it up ;o)

  • 2:51 and 5:35 ...shivers down the spine :P

  • only just over a million views what ? youtube is seriously lazy ehh..this song is a classic

  • You can search in our whole planet , you will never find someone like Phil !! I met him in Offenbach ( Germany) in the parking area just behind the concert-hall. Me and my Friends had also a band going and Phil listened to our tapes in his Tourbus an we had a beer together . Never met such a gentle and charismatic guy then Phil. God bless him !!

  • Phil,I met you once in Dublin when I was a little boy,I'll never forget that smile and how gentle you were with me,you are missed and will never be forgotten.RIP.

  • how do i download this tune please xx

  • @woojayne Download Ant video downloader,it will download most videos.

  • @woojayne , if you find out let me know i have collected so many oldies on here and would love to download them....

  • I am actually celebrating my new year's eve this way ;)

  • Everytime i hear this song...it still touches me deep inside. Phil, Robert, Gorham n Downey were Thin Lizzy's best combination. Nobody can replace this set. RIP Phil, u r always remembered.

  • I remember buying "Live and Dangerous" in the summer of 1980 and I absolutely swooned over this song. Every single time I hear it, even today, it sends chills up and down my spine. The tip of the top, Phil. You were ever the artist. Rest in peace, my dear.

  • OMG so freakin' amazing rip phil, you were a 'one'

  • Without a doubt the best version of this song!! The solo by Robertson is just absolute pure genius!! Fills me up with emotion everytime I hear it!!

  • Πουτάνες γυναίκες.

  • just blows me away... still... after all this time...woooahh

  • I'm sexy and I know it

  • epic video

  • :´( fawseome song!!! best song ever and for ever my favorite!! so sad phill had to go so soon... miss you my friend, thin lizzy was never the same without you, you gave it the magic!!

  • Greatest love song ever written. Slays me every time I hear it.

  • Sade did a great cover of this song this year. Check it out. 2011.

  • @haggismaster Listen Love Sade, but this song is meant for raunchy rock, not silky cool Sade.

  • @eeby7 you got that right! ....... Beautiful!

  • Back in the day ...when music was real music ....Live and dangerous one of the best live gigs ever

  • I so love this song. It brings back a fond memory. Thin Lizzy was awesome. We miss you.

  • Avenged Sevenfold, Thin lizzy, Rammstein, Metallica, Nightwish. all those is pure love!

  • This is one of those moments you just put the headphones on,turn it up & let the music do the talking!

  • frankie miller song. nice.

  • I saw them in Germany in 1975 and they looked and sounded just like this.

  • Great song!

  • inspiring and beautiful.

  • Beautiful bluesy solo, so much feeling.Tremendous. One of my all time favourite guitar solos. Mr Robertson is the man.

  • Ah!!!

so that's what they refer to when they say: "a rock superstar"

    i finely got it....absolutely breathtaking!

    Absolutely haunting!

i just fall in love with someone who died before i was born.

  • Absolutely Brilliant,,,Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham just pure magic..Thank You

  • unfortunatly, modern music is 70%, 20% tollerable and 10% good

  • Yeah

  • One word... QUALITY!!!!!

  • @lokiurin fuck that, lizzy is way better

  • Man Brian could play the guitar, I love that little transition he plays coming out of the first lead, at 4:18, but Gorham is so clean and has such a great guitar sound, i bet it was a big deal to land a gig with this great band, the guitars doubling up, it just doesn't get any better.

  • @CurrentAffairsJunky amen!!!

  • foo fighters are the kings!!! >:( no more to say!

  • @lokiurin Foo Fighters are great, but... Can't beat this, though, matey

  • @lokiurin they're good but not as good

  • Saw this tour in '77 ...at Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas. Graham Parker opened. They closed half the place off due to lack of attendance and Thin Lizzy TORE IT UP!!!!! Still smile thinking of that night and telling my friends at HS about who I'd seen.

  • Where all gonna be dead somday whose gonna remember YOU, these guys made a difference ARE YOU!

  • magic - great band - - i agree about the les paul comment although i would add the gewnius of the les paul guitar is its flexibility and it has been at the forefront of thousands of classic tracks - all shapes and sizes - i actually prefer the studio sound on nightlife as i think the reverb is racked up too high here. but who gives a shite this is classic music that will stay with me forever- 1st live band edinburgh playhouse

  • Hey McFly, can i borrow your DeLorean to go back to a Lizzy concert??

  • :'''( ohh Phil. come home. x

  • was a little too young to see them back in the day. seeing them in january and cannot wait! even tho phil is not there in body his spirit will be there i'm sure. still have the great brian downey and scott gorham tho so the show will still be great. hope they play this.

  • I love how Phil Lynott's voice just drags you in you just have to stop and listen. one of my favorite songs ever <3

  • Comment removed

  • I saw Phil Lynott at the Marquee Club in London just months before he died, when he was trying to launch his new band, Grand Slam, I think they were called. A very sad sight - the charisma, the vitality and, it appeared, the talent all gone. A good advertisement for staying off the drink and drunks. This is how I would prefer to remember him, an achingly beautiful song, sung from the heart.

  • I MISS PHIL..HAD A CHANCE TO SEE THIS BAND BACK IN THE DAY WITH QUEEN...HATE A MISSED IT..PHIL WAS BLACK IRISH POWERFUL AND SOULFUL...AND HAD SWAGGER...I LOVE THIS SONG AND I HAVE THE LIVE ALBUM...TOO

  • One of the best bands of all time...at least we still have the recordings...thank the stars for people like you gdeggdeg..thanks

  • Black culture + Irish culture = Music Master

  • Unbeliveble! thanks for posting this, havent heard TL for many years, and just stumbled across this one, feel i just died and went to musicheaven....

  • The great Gary Moore created these guitar riffs for this song. Robertson said they'd never change them when Gary left the band brcause , as he was quoted saying, "they were perfect from beginning to end." Nobody can end a song the same as Gary Moore. This song is perfect to the very last note.

  • Robertson solo, Gorham solo, Phil voice , is there god behind that stage?

  • d@MaccAmemt Nope, no god. Phil died a young man. I f there was a god he'd have stopped that happening.

Please don't bring god into rock music, we dont want it fucked up now do we? ;)

  • @stevies5 Hang on a minute ...phil himself was a true believer ...& phil would most likely be the first one to say he pushed his life too hard ..and that the higher power gives ALL free will ..most of my favs ...from lizzy to dylan have a spiritual componant ...as ye reap - so shall ye sow. Phil believed in a redeemer . Dont be so arrogant .

  • @TheMichaelseymour

Arrogant me? Reel in yer redeeming neck, you sicko.

  • Wtf is this shit?! Long live the lizard king bitches!

  • Thumbs up if you, like me, weren't even born when Phil Lynott died.

Also, thanks to my father for having such a wonderful taste in music, and playing songs like this for me, when I was a kid.

  • @Noergaardsvej Actually my mom brought me to this music

my dad had no idea of good music

  • @Noergaardsvej respect for your father ! see on youtube Rory Gallagher .He's a guitar hero, from Ireland like Phil Lynnot and I think you will like it ! Happy Christmas and a good 2012 to you !

    Greetings from Antwerpen.

  • @Noergaardsvej

Absolutely spot on mate. I wasn't a part of the generation to see Lynott and Thin Lizzy in their prime, but I'm certainly part of the generation that will continue to play their epic music.

  • Unreal!!! Pure class. What a frontman. Love Lizzy!!

  • @podge7 Well said ,Pure class there was no one better

  • everything you need from a song. it simply blows you away.

  • why doesn't my generation understand the value of a group of people playing actual instruments together..AKA a band?? what happened to the soul in music today.. ? it's fading away.. and being replaced by computer generated beats and quick fixes. ever hear LMFAO's hit single? SO creative -__- prime example of youth. at least we'll always have songs like this.

  • oh man. gonna see thin lizzy in a couple weeks, but not the same without phil. love the rest of the guys too so not giving up on them.

  • The song gives me goosebumps every freakin single time. Its one of those songs that you forget everybody else in the room and youre in your own world.

  • Incredible. Sorry bands of today ( Coldplay, Maroon 5, and Foo Fighters ) this is the way it's really done.

  • @nolanleecontreras Brilliant, only just met him yet, T Rex my youth xxx

  • @nolanleecontreras true, but just take Foo Fighters out of your list...

  • @nolanleecontreras Listin mate , i'm a nice fella and all ...but i know a bloke who knows the bloke who washes the dog of the bloke who plugs youtube back in after the night shift finishes in the morn -SO - if you ever mention the POO fighters in the same stratosphere as this band again ...i might just have you blacklisted ...other than that -your a top fuckin bloke too { just like me } Good on ya ...but remember what i said. ok ? Cool .

  • @TheMichaelseymour What dribble , listen, no matter how much Lynott was a belever it didnt do him any good cause hes stone cold dead and like his 'maker' wont be coming back.,, sad but but a fact none the less, just enjoy the music and dont bring belifes into it, and if is the same dog who peed on my lawn the other day tell you mates mate im after him

  • @TheMichaelseymour take that back wrong person soz ha

  • @nolanleecontreras i must admit i do like some of the bands you ve mentioned but i hear what your saying, everyband can learn a little something from musicians like this.

    Long live the lizzy!!!

  • @nolanleecontreras Coldplay is better than Maroon 5 or any other modern band. They're the only good band left.

  • @nolanleecontreras Foo Fighters are a real good band , don't put them with , Maroon 5 and Cold Play man !!!!!

  • @nolanleecontreras You're absolutely right!

  • @nolanleecontreras even though i agree with you.....foo fighters are from like 1994.....sorry haha.....

  • Phil a true gentleman always. This is one fantastic song. God be good to you Phil. I hope you and Ollie are up there having a few cold ones.

  • This is music !!!!

  • AWESOME!!! I LUV THIS MUSIC. PERIOD.

  • gary moore are playing?

  • Pure Fucking Genius !!

  • ABSOLUTE PERFECTION

  • holy shit! this gives me goosebumps big as cranberries!!!

  • Ultimate soundtrack for going down in flames. Phil's own take on "My heart ain't in it , but I'll hold the door". Ballad of unmatched power and beauty, the word majestic comes to mind.

  • I just bought Live and Dangerous but the version that is on the CD is not this version and I'm very upset!! I thought I would get this version which is amazing - can anyone explain why this is and where can I get this version???

  • @BBMetsable

This video is from the Live & Dangerous concert dvd. The L&D album is compiled from about 3 different concerts, none of them being this particular show at the Rainbow Theatre. They might be different, but they're pretty much identical, and I think the solo is better on the album. Robbo was well known for not really playing the exact same solo each time.

  • Yea Phil we miss ya... This Oul Town misses Thin Lizzy!!

  • what a band, Philo we miss ya

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

  • i love the tempo shift, gives me goosebumps its orgasmic or shall i say eargasmic .

  • Ooohhh...f*ck...this great !!!!

  • the solo gets me hard

  • rarely do you get a bunch of people with so much passion and talent, for that i am more than thankful, for this song and this music i cant describe the feeling, amazing everytime, wish i wasnt born in 1993 and i had the chance to see phil work his magic!

  • an absolutely epic track from one of the greatest albums i will ever own. bought it at Our Price years ago. Fantastic band. still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. guitars being played the way they are supposed to be, the thin lizzy way...

  • As an Artiste ....the sweat DRIBBLIN of this guy..jases ..he feels what he's singin? goood on ya phill?

  • yep

  • THE BEST

  • This is why Les Paul invented this guitar.

  • @leedrennan ha ha!!! Love it! You made me smile! I had always pondered this question x

  • now i can see who played which solo on this great tune... and it is: scott gorham - great guitar player!

  • ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT THIS ISNT A GREAT SONG IS A FUCKING IDIOT AND PROBABLY SMELLS OF KNOB CHEESE!!!!!!!!

  • @TheStuport

Whenever i see it i always think F#@k The What. apparently what it really stands for is For The Win

  • this song has the same chord progression as Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles.. I like both of them.

  • @JosephMSmithMusic...THAT is hilarious!! Saw Thin Lizzy first time as opening act for my favorite band RUSH...even Geddy said to the crowd how blown away they were by The Lizzys....was a Classic Arena show fo sho...Miss Lynott...missing the music he never got to "finish" !
