  • Yo dude, does your rick buzz? I noticed it has an open hum bucker like mine. Mine buzzes like a beast! I have a Boss noise supressor but it's annoying to use sometimes? Any suggestions?

  • @Tellycaster109 When my 6 string acoustic guitar buzzed I just put on heavier gage stings and it went away. Don't know if this is an option for a bass.

  • @Tellycaster109 take it to a luther or guitar center and have them check it out. it just might need adjusting or fret sanding. or he'll give you tips on what to do. cheers.

  • i like your haircut

  • how much did your rickenbacker cost

  • Do you have a tab? All the ones I have found are wrong >:(

  • Okay how do I learn to do that?

  • Holy shit i read off Rickenbacker very nice!

  • Gorgeous bass :)

  • @SleighJessi She's known for that. That's probably the best looking bass ever, and a very nice sound :)

  • I know this is a great song, but you should sound louder than the record so we can hear your sound.

  • nice cover...nice bass too... looks just like mine

  • Musicianship and music all the way, THX!

  • nice playing, but your camera is too far away from your fingers so we can't get a real good look at how it's played.

    Cheers

  • are you like 9 feet tall? that bass looks like a toothpick when you hold it

  • hey did you have roundwounds or flatwounds on it in this? nice playing man and bass

  • when they released the beatles music on i-tunes this was the #1 song...I remember first hearing it and could not get enough...

  • when they released the beatles music on i-tunes this was the #1 song...I remember first hearing it and could not get enough...

  • PLEASE CHECK OUT MY COVER OF HERE COMES THE SUN (VIDEO RESPONSES)

    NICK VAN WYK

  • No guys. George did basswork in The Beatles. He did supply the bass on HIS recording of "Here Comes the Sun". He used a Fender Jazz Bass to record with. I suggest some of you put "Two of Us" into the search window and watch George play bass on his telecaster guitar.

  • @109ace John and George both did bass work after sgt pepper. They shared a custom fender 6 string bass. They probably just took a fender guitar and converted it for the lower tones.

  • dude i think you should remake this vid cuz its hard to hear but ur amazing at bass im not gonna lie

  • George used his Fender Jazz Bass to record the bass part on this song.

  • @109ace no he didn't.

  • @109ace you mean paul? george didnt play bass

  • Great job man, thanks so much for posting.

  • fuck your shit my bass is better

  • Custom pick guard?

  • Grow a beard. Now

  • @BOOMDIGIDYable LMAO

  • awesome bass line and awesome bass playing ...good to see you appreciate Pauls melodic bass lines ...he will always be the best ... Beatles Rock..

  • that must be a reissue because unless the left handed trust rod is upside down

  • @sgtmjames well spotted i just had a look a my rick 4001 original its diffrent

  • cool

  • Of all the bass vids for Here Comes the Sun - Yours is the best so far. The tone of your bass, the inflections, and the accuracy of matching what Macca played on the original recording are dead on. You have a lot of Beatle vids here so I'm betting you're a major McCartney fan.

  • Great performance and instrument... my only sugestion... try to improve sound quality of your videos ...

  • omg grow a beard. you will look like the dad from grounded for life =O

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SWEET BASS !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude how much did that cost im thinking of buyin one

  • man, you make me really envey you having that bass.

  • I could be george for you guys in your virtual beatles band maybe

  • Good job !

  • I purchased a new one for £300 odd and sold it for £150 gutted

  • Oops recently found the receipt and it was a lot more than £300

  • Tab Please!!!

  • PERFECT !!!!

  • SUBBED

  • awsome sounding bass bro!

  • How much does a rickenbacker 4001 cost?

  • haha way too much

  • from 3000$ up.

  • i got 1 for 600$

  • Then you're lucky. I got an Eagle copy for that price.

  • lucky guy!

  • alot of money lol

  • Well, they stopped making them over 20 years ago, so just on that standpoint, they're going to go up. But a current 4003 lists for around $3k or so.

You know the old joke: "If you have to ask, then you can't afford one!" haha

  • 4001's are hard to peg to a price, because they don't make them anymore, but you can get the 4003 (Rickenbacker's new version of the 4001) for $2,000 at musician's friend.

  • amazing job bro

  • Can I get the (bass) tab for this?

  • awsome bass. nice cover too!

  • beautiful bass, great color...

  • Awesome!

  • man you are smooth like butter!

  • not listen more volumen

  • can't hear it.

  • @saYer get better speakers, i can hear it perfectly

  • @saYer your deaf

  • @Edu2503

He played bass on the songs "Birthday" and "Old Brown Shoe"

  • @saYer

    use headphones ;)

  • @saYer Thats how you know it's a real Rickenbacker.

  • @saYer how can you not hear it?

  • @saYer if you cant hear it, you have no ears :D

  • @saYer put headphones in

  • @saYer use headphones!

  • its a 4001 if you watch his other vids you can tell

  • Great job !!!

  • Hola soy Fernando Ríos-Amuratrans.Me ha encantado como has interpretado con el bajo Here comes the sun.Muy bien, perfecto y con clase.Me puedes ver tocando el mismo tema escribiendo amuratrans en el youtube.Gracias por hacerlo tan bien. Un saludo

  • Excellent job. Paul knew how to create classic bass lines.

  • GooglelyTube

While I entirely agree your comments on Macca's bass lines, it's George who plays bass in this one ( A Fender VI - six strings)

  • McMary - I'll kindly disagree. George's bass playing was nothing like Paul's (i.e. Hey Jude). And this has Paul's signature all over it. If you've got written proof source, I'd like to know about it. Thanks, and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

  • GooglelyTube

    Hi,

    Please, check out/search>

GEORGE,RINGO AND PAUL AT ABBEY ROAD

George says " I play bass on 'Sun'with that six string Fender"

I was listening to the whole track and it's true! typical sound from the Fender VI!

Merry Christmas, Peace & Love and Happy New Year!

    Cheers, Mac

  • GooglelyTube

BTW I play bass and had one Fender VI long ago... it sounds cool really.

George plays this bass in Hey Jude and John (Dig it - Let it be- among others).

In fact the ' VI ' was the 'everybody's bass/guitar' both at Twickenham Studios (Letit be) and Apple R S.

This short scale one looks like a Fender Jaguar &co.

    Cheers.

  • Hello Again Mac! Fun to listen to the three along with George M. talking and remembering the recording session of Golden Slumbers - but that's not determining for sure that it was George on the VI on Sun. The best thing about that video was George M. making the point that, indeed, through all the problems at the end - The Beatles were still making and playing great music together AS A BAND and not individual artists as it was with the White LP. Anyways - Happy Christmas!

  • I entirely agree your coments Mac.

The bass is a fender vi and was recorded by George Harrison.

Most ppl from United States will never say "sorry, I was wrong"... forget it man, they always have the last word. Not this time.

I play bass too. Wonder if this person can play a single tune on a spanish guitar.

    Good on you man.

  • id have sex with your guitar

  • Great stuff!!! You Rock!

  • McCartney's Rick was a 4001-stereo- 1964- sunburst - dot inlays and no binding.

    This one looks great too.

  • not to mention it had the enormous sounding horseshoe bridge pickup that they don't use anymore because it's too expensive to make--nowadays they use a small single coil in the bridge position with a removable bridge cover.

  • Agree man.

  • i want one bass like this!! where can i find one?

  • you're moving the wrong leg up and down.. it's moving the bass if you haven't noticed.... maybe that's just a slight amount of OCD though? i dunno, i use my left leg when i use it as a metronome

  • this is awesome.

  • nice. those basses are expensive. they're like £1000

  • Damn, now I have to add a 4001 to my wish list, which doesn´t get smaller: An original Steinberger, a Musicman Stingray, other ones, and now one of these!!!

  • Damn i love the backers

  • You don't call'em backers, y'all call'em RICs.

  • Could you please send me a tab or something?

  • Thats a pretty color rick.

  • dont mean to get weird

but how much wuz that bass?

  • Rickenbacker. The Beatle Backer

  • ahh man that bass is so sexy

  • buen bajo, el mismo de z bosio.

  • I have a ricky 4001 1976!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man i want a mapleglo rickenbacker, what the fuck man?

  • Where'd you get the tab or whatever it is for this?

    Please reply.

  • sound quality's a bit iffy here

and in no way is that bass defiled by the removal of the pickup cover. In fact, they're much more fun to play without that thing in the way (I have a 1977 4001 in Tobaco burst, mirror pickguard)

    nicely done sir.

  • actually paul used a fender jazz bass on this song

  • im suprised you knew that. he used a 1966 fender jazz bass on abbey road and many of the songs on the white album

  • he didnt use it on this song the rickenbacker or on something, most of the white album and abbey road he used the jazz bass but he started using the rickenbacker more in 1971

  • and he used the Jazz again on Band On the Run...

Although there's a photo of George playing a Fender Jazz during the Abbey Road album sessions, I never saw pictures of Paul with the Jazz during the Beatledays. Thanx for the info, never too old to learn new facts.. Somehow it clears things; long ago I had a Rick because of Paul but never liked it. Recently I bought a '64 reissue Fender Jazz that sounds great..

  • I have some pixes of Macca with the Jazz and George with the Gibson -acoustic-. I guess they were taken while recording Abbey Road.

A pity I can't post one of these pixes.

  • Where did you find it ? I'm searching from a long time photos with macca and jazz. A lot of people don't know that he used a jazz during recording of White Album (this is why bass sound is so crunchy on that album) ...

  • McCartney used his Hofner for the video of Revolution which is roughly the same period. He also used it on Get Back. Some of the bass sounds on the White Album (such as Dear Prudence) sound a lot like a hofner. It sounds like they put a lot of treble on the di signal and a lot of bass on the room sound. Lennon and Harrison used a fender bass for Helter Skelter, Hey Jude. And somebody plays chords on a bass in I'm so tired, Back in the Ussr, Could be a fender jazz bass indeed.

  • Nice Playin' brother! what kind of amp are you running through?

  • dude did you remove the meatle cover over the strings? you defiled it!!

  • no, he didn't some ricks were special ordered without them, the treble bar and the metal surrounding the pickup are all one solid piece, you cant remove it!

i was pissed too, when i first saw one without it lol =]

  • oh hah

  • actually when i got my first ric i had to take that pickup cover off, it's located right where i pluck the strings, which made it completely annoying as hell.

  • Vale la pena verlo!!

  • great playing, great-looking bass!

  • i like your hofner, but that rickenbacker isnt that cool. no dots. but its better than my non rickenbacker

  • *steals bass*

  • Dang, are you like 8 feet tall? I've never seen a Rick bass look so small.

  • Opa que te tiraste a lo hondo, botija, nada menos que en el lugar de Paul al bajo, que chapuzón!!

  • your bass is so beautiful

  • ryt why is ppl even bringing this up, and yet paul's main bass was his hofner viola bass

  • who gives a care. not me.

  • I love the beatles but I even hadn't realised that they used rickenbackers... I recognize rickenbackers with Muse :)

  • but unlike the beatles, muse totaly sucks. their just annoying radiohead wannabes.

  • I respect your opinion however, I disagree :) I listen to both bands and Muse stopped being similiar to Radiohead(If they ever were) about five years ago. It's just blind fanboys of Radiohead who keep saying these things about Muse.

  • i'm not a "blind fanboy" i just don't like muse. some of their music has clear radiohead-esque sounds.

  • ok asshole Lemmy play a rickenbaker too... i guess you know who Lemmy is...

  • yeah i sure do. amazing bassist/ vocalist for the indespensable motorhead. i never said that the beatles are the only ones to play rickenbackers, just the most well known. geddy lee, sergio pizorno, tom petty, and bunch of others play them too.

  • Sounds great - love your tone. even sounds like you're using the Rotosound Flatwounds on it as well.

  • That's the Ric I want!

  • looking good mate ,great song ,great rickenbacker ,great playing good stuff

  • dude shut up, he sounded pretty good to me, keep rockin dude! n dont ever listen to wat the bitter hearts have to say!

  • Oh for pete's sake, he did fine. Pull your head from your rear.

  • Loser!

  • Could someone please tell me the difference between the rickenbacker 4001 and the 4003 ?

  • Main difference for 4003 is improved neck lamination and truss rod system to take extra tension of roundwound strings. 4001 has capacitor in bridge pickup wiring to roll off bass frequencies giving treble bias to tone. 4003 took out cap to give more balanced tone. Newer (2005 on) 4003s replaced the cap but switchable via treble pickup tone knob to give optional vintage tone. Quick way to tell natural wood colour 4001 (not S models & derivatives) like one in video is skunk stripe down centre.

  • message to koala bear: you suck

  • I agree Kola bear is a Fucking retard.

  • can you tell me where you found the tabs for this?

your versions different from the ones ive seen.

    well played btw

  • i need that bass

  • go kill your self rickenbackers set the standard for basses and so far i have not found another bass to top a rickenbcker

  • Are you a musician, Koala?

  • yep

  • Somehow I find that hard to believe. In what way(s) do you think bass "sucks"?

  • Whether or not you think it sounds "pleasant", the bass, just like any rhythm or harmony instrument, is still a vital component to music. Solo guitar can only go so far. You need the pulse, you need the low end, you need the high end, you need harmonic counterparts and counterpoints. If you just got rid of bass a lot of music would loose its punch.

As much as I am tempted to ask for more specifics about your ambiguous statement, I'll just leave it at that. To each his own.

  • As far as im concern im a lefty bassist and paul is one of my idol cauz he succeded in what he did. then mostly guitar are the melody we are the rythme and people only hear the melody but bass is a great instrument also and complete the guitar why would there be 1 in nearly every group if it was useless? sometimes easier but look over the net and you will find it a lot more harder than u though think of some god like flea from RHCP or Victor wooten they are a lot involved in the song

  • You're preaching to the choir. Why are you addressing me with this?

  • my bad i simply wanted to add it to your argument while actually talking to Koala

  • Oh, okay. In that case, yes, I agree completely. W00t for bass players!

  • dude a bass is a better instrument then electric guitar, there's no denying that!

  • The 4001 and 4003 are very similar, The 4003 has a double truss rod(I think). I ordered a a 2008 Jetglo 4001 C64 reissue : ) Can't wait to get it!

    Play nice, guys!

    Peace

  • great playing. but thats not a 4001 thats a 4003. the 4001 only as dot neck and reversed headstock, and has the reshaped body.

  • the one hes playing is a reissue of paul's bass after he routered the body a bit and refinished it.

  • no I''m looking at a rickenbacker poster right thats not a 4001.

  • yeah, you are just wrong on that. that is a 4001, skunk stripe thinner neck. unmistakable.

  • you better shut up because thats not a 4001 .
