  • u denfense on my soceer team and these helps

  • i just keep my legs like >< a little then if they try to tunnel me i can close my legs quicker

  • simple stuff. As a forward, to counter her slowing down. I suggest you a big charge right before she slows down. She/he isn't anticipating this and that gap will close to fast for her to slow down and start backpedaling. It'll keep pushing her/him off until you have a ton of room and people are hesitant to run up on you.

  • i love deffence but can't shot goals

  • i love deffence

  • im miltonkeyenes defender 4 life lol

  • I used these technics today. And the angle-mode really did help, because they fell so much pressure, and then they give up and pass the ball. Thanks for this awesome video.

  • @ElDDFromDK thats what youre supposed to do, pass the ball

  • angle sounds key to good defense

  • my class said im the only that they can depend on when being the defender for my team and this video help me !

  • the only way u can be a good defender is if u got a loot of agression , if ur agresive and want the ball so much u will do this automaticly withuot thinking.also bending ur knees would be a good idea as u would take up more space than attacker cuold expect ;)

  • Thumps up if u just learned from these gurls!!!

  • they're wrong already. they didn't even get the sport right! football people!

  • @TheMattPereira the english started the term soccer

  • @codi2ARC there like 10 calm down

  • its funny how everyone gives americans crap about how they suck at soccer, but other people dont have any videos or anything on how to defend.

  • thats because everyone else knows how to defend

  • @JK24k No,they don't

  • Seriously guys, it's not that hard to defend, keep your eye on the ball, dont go running to the attacker, let him come to you and dont let him get past you.

  • @EstupedMexicanz really try my buddy and his friend we will see if you can handle them

  • im a defender and foward for my club and all star team

  • @nerdness111 1st thing that needs to be learned is slide tackling!

  • @alexlvnv1688 wrooong!!!

  • good

  • @codi2ARC Well then because you're so good please post a video how to do this right. I'd love to know :)

  • kudos

  • @Legaciesnevadie booooooOOOooo u r wrong my school need 80% and more to be selected in school team bodoh

  • i can play stirker, midfield, defend and keeper but now i play defend for my team

  • If the offense slows down enough for the defense the steal then the defense does better! Amazing!

  • very nice.

  • very nice the angle tip , helped me :D

  • @Dallebo uhm, you do do lots. make sure the defenders push up so you can get off sides, and to prevent the ball from getting to the goalie.

  • @xalhed um how?

  • Nice defense.

  • agree with codi2arc

  • I'm a sweeper on my team as well, knew this already but yeah nice constructed vid.

  • Omg... The one chick has no dangles. Anyone can beat any defender with the right amout of practice, skill and luck of course but she was just giving it to her -.-

  • thank you im the sweeper for my team and this really helped

  • "Leave it!" LMAO

  • this is cool

  • bravoo

  • im a defender for my team and these help a lot

  • sane here

  • the most important thing for a defender is the Jacky position. Jacky position is the way karate or kungfu fighters stand before making any move. The person bend his/her knees and stay on their toes facing the defender at and angle

  • i think one is too much already lmao

  • if a defender wud try to take me at my left side ( my weaker foot) i wud jst step on the ball and kick it away from where hes takin me and then dribble him further i guess....

  • what do you mean? like go the opposite way? because a good defender will be ready to poke it right away with his lead foot, especially if he keeps his 5 or so yards away as they talk about it the video

  • I look at the player eyes so i know where he's looking at and what he is going to do so it's eazy'r to react on his action, you still can see the ball, it's strange to explain but i always knew what the attacker whas going to do by reading his moves and knowing where he whas looking at, it's all about reaction timing and a good eye(know how the field looks like where you people are and the others)And 1 tip: watch alot off mathes you really learn from there mistakes. really use that tip it helps.

  • And 1 thing what is really necessary: talent!

  • the angle thing is smart. also you could approach the offensive player sideways in a strattle position. this stops the chance of them being able to kick the ball through your legs. we all know that is embarasing.

  • im a defender and i sometimes just jockey keep em or a trick that i found works most is wactch them dribble undtil that make that touch u can sprint onto to.

  • I play defence and coach kids aswell, i agree with what this coach is saying, the only thing i would say is if your going to force a player one way, force either onto other foot, or toward the line, not towards goal, then nothing can come of the attack

  • this will never happen in games unfortunately. There are many experienced players that can cut directions easily. Its all a matter of staying with the person and not letting him./or her get ahead of you. The ball can get ahead of you but when the person is not he cannot do anything with the ball.

  • wow! this is almost exactly what my personal coach taught me! come fast, then slow, bend your run

  • i know this might be a little old fashion, but when i was little and was told how to defend. It was nice and simple. If u see the ball, smack it away. If the forward dribbles you, go foul them! Old but simple

  • im not blaming the girls but i think that the coach is saying the wrong things . for what im looking at ,that a 1 on 1 situation ,so you jockey the defender, instead of letting the striker make the decision when to go pass the player ,the defender makes the decision instead so that they catch the striker of guard ,you dont just stand their in a 1 on 1,because they go pass you and you have to pick up yur speed in time so they dont score , i play as a defender too

  • you can always jockey them and when they dont expect it then you make tyour tackle(i play centre half for my local team) i think that a complete centre back is when you can attack with it from the defnse

  • my friends consider me as a great defender. cause i never give up and if i make a mistake ill fix it, and the always seem to ask me "if i feel pain" cause i will get in the way of the ball !!

  • as a centre back(english football) i feel that my speed gives me the advantage to offensive players. i just force them onto their weaker foot

  • im from Argentina and were to taught to stand em up and win by skill. thats why were the best at defense lol

  • Italy clearly have the best defence

  • i belive that .just have to think of the defenders they have had and it wont take more than 10 seconds

  • I'm a defensive player, and 1 of the things that help me best is defending at sideways. Then you can transition quicker, and they can't meg you. also, If they do pass you, you're already facing partly that way so you have an easier run.

  • lol, i play offense.

if anybody tries to angle me, i just snap it to the right, whip it back inbetween their legs, and run...

    ....works every time....

  • im not from america, im from melbourne australia. what you said is correct, but by how you wrote it it seems it is the very basics. how defending is mentioned in this video is how all the proffesional defenders play, i have seen this technique in every professional league around the world. not giving up untill the ball is out is correct, but these are tips on how to defend.

  • THIS IS 100% CORRECT!!!!!!!! this is exactly what i do. its ot so much about "winning the ball" its about not letting the defender pass you. if you lead them to the sideline they cannot get near to the goal, so turn your body to the side you want them to go. this is exactly what i have been tought. professionally, and it never fails! this is professional soccer, its how the pro's play! 100% CORRECT!!!!!!!!

  • when i get angry there will be no timing for me cuz i just tackle them or shoot the ball

    -__-

  • im a defender and in my experience it always helps to analyse the opponents move

what i do when i play with my friends is always remember their best or favourite move

more than fifty percent they would do what i think and they get tackled mostly..

and another thing i wud suggest is if u get tackled stay calm and do not give up u have a better chance of tackling from behind wen the opponent cant see ur approach.

  • Yeh a lot of defending is psychology. Another good way to tackle someone is to lead them on to thinking they can go past u by for instance moving your body to the left making them go to your right as it looks the easiest way to go past you but as they do this you are already their. it's all in the mind.

  • im midfielder and attacker soo this kinda helped...

  • The defender was caught flat-footed several times. As a defender, you should approach side on so if an attacker skips past you, you are already half-turned and can beat them to the ball.

  • yeah thats what my coach always tells me. btw i play sweeper.

  • Not bad. I'm a football coach, jst finished my HND at college for coaching, and this is the sort of thing I'm looking for as I've been an attacker all my life. However, I've learned more from playing 5 a side every week... Dont commit, show the opposing player on to their weaker foot (standing with whatever shoulder towards so you can move quicker). Stand off the players who want you to make the first move. Keep your eye on the ball, not the feet. Get close, but not too close. Copy the pros.

  • If you are judging American soccer based on a video intended for small children, you are an idiot

  • good man sam thats how to coach buyo. you should come to europe and spread your expertise.

  • he says 'mayb' Soo much

  • i just give heavy duty tackles. beside that i m broad so that makes it eaven easier.

  • An Argentinian or a Brazillian will go the other way not the way the defender gives them.....

  • Just train the children more physical like : A has his hands on the back and B pulls A backwards while A runs forward. A good training for the legs.

  • p.s aslong as the attacker doesent get past you, uve done ur job, if he is forced to pass the ball, uve done what you are supposed to, p.p.s this sounds daft, but works, if it doubt kick it out!, john terry and jamie carragher are best for this, no fancy stuff, play the wasy ball everytime!

  • @Lilburne I like it. Not particulary pretty, but effective

  • @Ikkauku206 defending is never pretty nor entertaining but it's vital.

  • eyes on ball all the time, dnt dive in, wait for attacker to make the move, when he does stick ur foot in the way =) its done me very well over the years, hope it helps !

  • im 20, play as a defencive mid, like the " makelele role " i play for my county, when i was 14 had varies trials with different profesional clubs, what i was taught at lilleshall ( acadamy of exalance, where michaeal owen, steven gerrard, etc came through before being signed) was to stand off the attacker, so like it esplains cover the ground quickly, but then always stay about 2 yards off the striker, ignoring the player,

  • Good session but you need to add more details. Its very important at that age.

  • indeed

  • i defend for the westaustralian state team. This video is good for beginners. As u get into higher leagues the attackers are extremely fast so you need to jocky hard and shoulder them away to the boundary then clear the ball. Not tackle strait away

  • something he kind of mentioned was to push the opponent to the weaker foot. one of the easiest ways to defend. also, make good use of the boundaries. they are essentially stationary defenders that are always there. use them.

  • i'm a 14 year old defender for scottish team fauldhouse. over here we have a very physical stance on defending. u need to be strong first of all and u must not pull out off a tackle. i saw a m8 break his ankle half heartedly tackling. in scotland u are allowed to be hard with ur tackle, as long as u take the ball. this can put of people going near u and make them worried on the ball. hope this helped =D

  • nice grass field

    good lesson

  • thanks,, that was informative
