  • So I was reading somewhere how nitrate film tends to get this sticky coating on it after awhile, which dries up into this powder, and I was just wondering if when you put it in the water and dried it, if you washed that coating off and that might be why it burns slowly after soaking and then drying it?

  • @Elmware No, this film has no sticky coating on it. It burns more slowly when wet because water inhibits the combustion.

  • That was a good experiment. Well done. I can walk away from this experience having learnt that film burns fast and hot.
