I am very much aware of the fashion of the early 90's.I wore those style of clothes but not like the loose,long jacket/sheath and pants she was wearing.It appeared a size or two larger for her.As i mentioned before she absolutely looked matronly.I supposed she did not have a fashion adviser.

Loved, loved, loved Sean McDermott as Chris. He was the Chris when Broadway changed Kims from Lea Salonga to Leila Florentino in 1992. Wonder why Salonga didn't sing "I'll go with you!" the way she sang it in the stage version. It's more exciting when Kim sings that line an octave up.

@jsg03jd The switch to the higher octave was done in the latter years of the show on Broadway (there were four "versions" total over the years, and Lea Salonga was able to do them all).

@joshgardell I saw Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce a week after they won their Tonys in 1991 and that octave change was already frozen in the show. I believe that specific melodic change occurred during the previews in New York so by opening night, Lea was already singing the line that way. My guess is someone felt that Lea and Sean should just do the OLC version for "The Tonight Show."

I had the privilege of seeing Lea in the opening months of Miss Saigon on the West End when I was 8, and again when it premiered in NY a year or two later. She is by far THE BEST Lea, and Simon Bowman was the best Chris...Jonathan Pryce the greatest Engineer. To me, nothing tops that original West End Cast - superb!
