EEEEKKKKKK!!!!! ME LIKE LEA EVEN MORE SINCE I WATCHED MISS SAIGON ND IM ONLY 13!!!!! SHES PRETTTY.. AWESOME.. COOL.. CUTE.. UM.. UM.. PRETTY?? AND... UMM GOTS A AWESOME VOICE :) SHE A MOMMY TO and shes pretty :]
@sgtjjoe2008. I am very much aware of the fashion of the early 90's.I wore those style of clothes but not like the loose, long jacket/sheath and pants she was wearing. It appeared a size or two larger for her.As i mentioned before she absolutely looked matronly.I supposed she did not have a fashion adviser.
@JackMcPhee - Clearly someone who doesn't know a Broadway tenor belt when he hears it. Sean was one of the best interpreters of Chris who ever sang the role.
Beautiful!!! Real music to my ears. But for pete's sake, what is that dress ?For a 20 yr.old, that outfit is soooooooooo matronly, doesn't match her very beautful, youthful face.
Loved, loved, loved Sean McDermott as Chris. He was the Chris when Broadway changed Kims from Lea Salonga to Leila Florentino in 1992. Wonder why Salonga didn't sing "I'll go with you!" the way she sang it in the stage version. It's more exciting when Kim sings that line an octave up.
@jsg03jd The switch to the higher octave was done in the latter years of the show on Broadway (there were four "versions" total over the years, and Lea Salonga was able to do them all).
@joshgardell I saw Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce a week after they won their Tonys in 1991 and that octave change was already frozen in the show. I believe that specific melodic change occurred during the previews in New York so by opening night, Lea was already singing the line that way. My guess is someone felt that Lea and Sean should just do the OLC version for "The Tonight Show."
Also, if you pause near 2:16 or 2:17, doesn't it look as if there's a strong wind blowing from behind Sean McDermott? His hair (and chin too!) just looks so windswept loll. Sorry if bringing this up ruined the video for anyone lol.
I had the privilege of seeing Lea in the opening months of Miss Saigon on the West End when I was 8, and again when it premiered in NY a year or two later. She is by far THE BEST Lea, and Simon Bowman was the best Chris...Jonathan Pryce the greatest Engineer. To me, nothing tops that original West End Cast - superb!
I will only comment onthe song and for me this is a really loverly rendition! Why do people have to comment on the the artists appearences? If you really love music just listen dont look!!!
when she was in london, of course, people in london has strong english accent so she adopted it, and when she went to new york stayed for months, can you imagine her still having the strong english accent, or you will expect her to be slang?
your out of your mind calling her a fake.... your a certified haters!!!!!!!!haha!!!!
@tokki505 i cannot stress how important communication is. part of verbal communication is accent. one has to adopt to its environment and one has to be able to understand and be understood. lea adopting an accent is a MUST. it's not something she invented. it's something she had to do to understand and be understood.
its not unusual for people to pick up accents from where they live. Plus with her diction she probably sounds more English since amercicans usually speak with alot of slang.....Kinda like Madonna
I recorded the male vocals for this song and i'm looking for a female vocalist to sing along with! If you're interested, please check my profile. I really appreciate
If anyone is interested in singing "The Last Night of the World" with me, please check my profile. I already filled in the male vocals, I just need a Kim! =)
she looks real young. that's probably why she needs to appear more mature by dressing up - not only to bring believability to her role but to be taken seriously in the business and focus her credibility based on vocals/acting not winks and leg shows- don't you think....
The first time I heard this song, like three years ago, I cried. The lyrics, "In a world that is moving too fast; in a world where nothing can last; I will hold you; I will hold you", are so sad yet so full of courage. This is being one of my favorite songs from Miss Sigon.
bdtb you are wonderfull thanks for posting, hope you can post other lea salonga u.s. guesting like in rosie show and in olsen twin together with brad cane.
They're both great. Stop being so rude people! I don't see any national videos of you singing a successful broadway musical song!
