  • this dude is a boss on drums

  • sick as shit dudeeee amazing chops!!!

  • Holy Effing Crap...

  • 1:04: Man in back left: "Holy Sh*t!" lmao

  • i liked the middle part but that's not to say the other 2/3 didn't have merit.

  • Dude... You are amazing..

  • look at the guy head-bobbing to it...what a tool.

  • This is one of the best solos in my opinion. There was almost no struggle in doing anything. And, by the looks of it, he was having a bit of fun! =)

  • Good drummer...Need to take his time and make his drums sing a little more!!

  • It's funny how many people are hatin' on metal and only metal playing. It's obvious this dude knows his rudiments, and if he can play this. It's quite clear he can do other stuff. I think people are hating because they can't do they. They fit themselves into one specific mold and never bothered to venture out and learn other shit. This dudes a good drummer.

  • believe it or not, dude, I wasn't feeling anything u did until u took off them snares off that drum. Then it's like I got hypnotized to your entire sound from then on. Great job! Great stuff n speed.

  • that was dope bro! keep it up!

  • And best of all, he's wearing a Yankees cap :D

  • he probably plays soft jazz..

  • nice

  • needs more cowbell

  • Not too impressed.

  • not bad, not great

  • cant afford to be cynical, we all works in progress, whole lot of elements come into play far as getting in the grove , and in the ZONE - just look at sade's drummer in "red eye" the lovers live tour. ats what i'm talkin bout yo!

  • Wow, that was amazing! I dream of pounding my skins like that man! As an older, less competitive person (comfortable with my life) I see about 99% of the negative comments coming from players with little or no creativity what-so-ever.

  • Nice solo man !

  • either way this guys got serious chops

  • are you in a band?

  • @CriMSWoW Fort Rooster

  • Great show! You are a very skilled drummer...... but, your hat is crooked.

  • Guy in the black on the background mouths off to himself..."Oh shit..."

  • Double bass licks are cool man but I think running the pedals is more to the benefit of a song verses a solo. Nothin wrong with some sick combinations though. Good chops my man.

  • He Looks like yogi bear lol

  • Okay, I'm a drummer......you have great chops, but your pocket is totally absent. Play in the pocket..hold a groove and use that as a basis to improvise off of.

  • He probably would, But his strength is speed. So thats what he is goin to use to win. Might not be your style but its his. Great job man.

  • Um, wow. Where do you live? I need you in my band. LOL Unusually good, man. Really. Wow...

  • Cool. Fast beats. Lets see some polyrhythms.

  • Needs groove, but amazing nonetheless

  • I hate the fact that people who find other drummer bad only refer to the style. This drummer is obviously good, regardless of if he is playing fast, slow, too much chops, not enough groove etc... For example, this drumming is not at all my style, but it's so easy to just imagine playing this and realise that you need talent and practice to get there.

  • dude fuck all the nay sayers. that was good shit. and there were more than single storkes in there

  • Nice solo. Lose the double bass pedal, G. Unless you're Dave Lombardo or a metalhead, any drummer with taste will find a way without it.

  • @nduchene1 ya know double bass isnt just for metal. some of the greats use double bass. steve gadd, dave wykel, cater beauford, dennis chambers, so what if he used double bass? not saying single is bad or anything i've seen many great drummer use one kick and sound awesome. its all about preference. if you dont like double bass why must you cut down those who use it? why so negative?

  • @nduchene1 personaly i find it much more fun with a double bass i use both pedals for slow stuff its just more natural for me

  • @nduchene1 Ginger Baker did pretty damn good with a double bass, but he actually had two drums instead of one drum with a double pedal, but other than that yeah, the double bass kind of pisses me off

  • @nduchene1 he wouldn't have the KILLER matching SNARE/KICK parts if he did...that was fast and great timing...

  • @nduchene1 Nice opinion, I needed the laugh lol.

  • sounds really good

  • i think you could have used a bigger shirt

  • I'll be honest, you have chops. It's tempting to play them all the time. I think people will notice more though if you use them sparingly and integrate them into creative grooves.

  • @iplaywithnoshoes

nice comment. chops are great however he didn't tell me a story or make any progressions.

honestly, when it comes to the drumoffs, i feel the best solution is to play what others haven't played yet - take the time to listen to everyone.. create a unique in your head and go somewhere.

i'm sure guys have a particular solo mastered when it comes time for the finals and etc..that's cool..but the early rounds it's all about being unique!

  • It's not about the SPEED bruh. It's a solo, not a race ...

  • As a drummer with experience, it's good to leave your audience with something they can recap ... Not something that sounds like someone yelling in tongues ....

  • @Smurftacular2792 I disagree, This guy had style along with skills. Any cock can pick up an learn an instrument. Not any cock can add style or feeling to it. This dude did both. It's like when people say Travis Barker is the best drummer. Nope, any grindcore fan will tell you that's far from true. But the dude has style and makes it look good. He puts feeling into it.

  • ha! no positive feedback

  • holy shit this dude is amzing

  • Damn, watching this makes me wish I decided to be a drummer instead of a guitarist....

  • awesome dude

  • everyone's a hater lol.

    i enjoyed it, man.

  • This shit is niiiiiiice, man! I seriously need to buy another set....

  • so he can play fast. cool?

  • it sounded like a whole drum line amazing

  • i think you guys are hating on him cause he doesnt look like a typical drummer. scrol down so you cant see the screen and just listen

  • OMFG I LOVE the tricks with the sticks haha man you sure deserved to win man

  • cool breakdown

  • Great. youre fast. can You groove? keep a consistant tempo? do anything other than blasts and metal? oh yeah. metal head.

  • lol..... he was quite average i must say

  • Lots of great chops, but no real groove.

  • Your good no doubt but This doesnt even touch Eric Moores performence in 03'.

  • why are people shittin on you? that was great!

  • Killa chops..... Man I dug the NIN drumming.... shits damn tight!!! Come down to New Orleans and lets jam brotha...

  • drumming != speed !

  • 2:13 u got on the other side of the beat lol.. hands are nice, but could be more musical

  • Noticed some fairly negative comments, yet, if you were in a famous band, and did the exact same solo through a massive sound system in front of 15,000 people, I think you'd get some very different responses!

  • @remyfreakingmo ur an idiot take a lot of skill to use the double bass and takes yrs to master

  • this was pretty good IMO. definately entertaining to watch, i love fast drumming. and i liked the double bass too, ima metal fan, but overall great job

  • the ending was pooooooor considering the rest was awesome! Could have finished that off so so much better

  • guy with camera is loving this

  • he may be fast but he sounds like shit

  • I know speed in drumming is cool cuz its like wow that'd be really hard to do that tempo... but I'm sick of how people become so focused on being fast and have nearly no groove... like I've seen some fantastic drummers who just do basic 4/4 and just do a bit of syncopation over it with a few speedy fills and then back into simple grooves and fills... that impresses me moe than this

  • Lacked originality and personality. You're pretty fast but so are thousands of other drummers, creativity is what can set you apart. The solo also seemed random and all good solos sort of tell a story and flow much more smoothly.

  • Hey. I will give you this man. You are much faster than I am right now. Especially wit yo feet. But, in saying that, you gotta slow it down homie. You got chopz. You clearly know ya rudiments. Play a lil more tastefully friend. Become a lil more creative wit the kit. There so much more to drums than how fast you play. Love the showmanship though. You good dude. Keep up the practicin. And play with a click track at various tempos. That should help ya out with creativity too!

  • Incorporate triplets into you grooves and try double pedal work with one foot so ur hi hats can be used...

  • i feel like the solo wasnt unique. i dont like it i cudve done better even if i didnt have a double bass pedal. the solo looks the same as what jerome flood II did in 09.

  • needs more cowbell

  • At 1:02 there a guy in the back that looks at his skillz and is like HOLY SHIT and gets up...............

  • This is amazing!! One day you'll be going against Travis Barker :)

  • @MugoodaBeats1 lol he is already better than that tool

  • fast yes..just all. single stroke rolls.

  • @timothyj67 no it wasn't...at the beginning those are a lot of rudiments and buzz fills(which are super hard to get even toned, i have to choke the grip to imitate the sound!)

  • 1:03 holyy shit haha

  • niiiice foot work

  • hahaha you know you're good when the vector guy in the corner goes "holy shit...." and looks around

  • ... Too much for words..

  • you are amazing....!?

    \m/

  • ima be honest. 1) your good. ( better than me) 2) not enough musicality in your playin to advance in the competition. Ive watched enough vids to know that you gotta have more than just fast licks. Your good though and I wish i had feet that fast.

  • Very impressive man! Im a begginer but even i can tell how great your form is. Very clean very technical.

  • need more grooves. more flow. better transition. more RUSH

  • what would happen if we gave him a slower tempo? dont u guys think he would rush it seeing as how he is only playing as fast as he can?

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft Not...

  • @EdgeSnare Yeah...

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft good point lol

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft

yeah I reckon. Just by watching him, you can tell he couldn't play slow for shit. He wouldn't be able to stay in time. He doesn't really have much feel.

  • @turts02 1:50-2:14. that has some real nice feel.

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft I agree

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft i think he let his solo breath enough

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft Then he'd just have to use 128th notes.

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft Probably.

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft dude, as a drummer, drummers learn to play all tempos. It's kind of something you need to learn if you want to ever play more. This guy could kick your ass everyday of the week on a slow tempo, so stop hating because you can't play

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft i definitely think so.. today, people see quantity over quality.. i dont think it should be that way. it should definitely be how you play your instrument as opposed to how many irrelevant objects you can hit with a wooden stick in the shortest amount of time

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft Amen to that. Slowing down can be JUST as difficult if not more than blazing tempos.

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft umm no? and the tempo wasn't that fast anyway, he was just playing fast...because that's what drummers do in solo's. I don't think anyone ever asked Neil Peart to slow down

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft i agree as well

  • @SYSTEMAairsoft ummm..... this is a drum solo, not a "Lets play the drums and see if we can maintain a steady beat fast AND slow." This is supposed to be really fucking fast. And im not trying to like say your wrong, but hes not playing as fast as he can. if he was, hed be tensed up. Yeah, it might be difficult to play slowly, but you can talk once YOU can do it slowly. Hell, if you can do it AT ALL. Sorry, but if i were EdgeSnare, I would remove your comment. This is probably one of the best.

  • this will be the most inspiring solo of the next generation.modern vinnie colaiuta. more power to you.

  • sick solo dude! idk why these people are commenting, saying that you arent playing with any feeling? thats bullshit. you're getting hella into it. mad props!

  • you played better in 2008!

  • Your snare work is the best ive ever seen

  • Someone played in a drumline...

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhh to sick bro

  • fuckin sick. i wish i had the hands that you do, even though im pretty happy with mine at the moment. but idk, was alrite to me. dont know if i could compose a better solo

  • I envy your left hand. Just saying XD Some cool stick tricks too. The part where you stood up and played cymbals was kinda fun too

  • lol 1:02 guy "oh shit"

  • very good. very very good. and yea its a solo its the one time you should be showing off and playing all over the place

  • sick drumming!!! but the feeling just wasnt there

  • 1:49 ... left han... nough said... good job dude.

  • i feel like you play to impress others and not cause you love it.

  • @TheIamcody drum competition...

  • @EdgeSnare

    Hahahahahahahahaha

  • @EdgeSnare Lol, I know right! It is a competition, you have to impress, it's called showmanship. It's actually part of playing live! when you make others feel your love for music through adding more than just playing, by adding showmanship. Some one needs to watch Drumline! Lots of showing off!

  • @EdgeSnare lol bro this was great. idk why everyone is hating i dont think they attended the drum competition. fuck them bro

  • @EdgeSnare Owned haha competitions are meant to have competitors impress some judges right?

  • @TheIamcody i think the point of a competition like this is to impress the judges no offense but he wouldnt be doing this if didn't loved it

  • i agree with Thelamcody. the love is what impresses others. you gotta have a solid groove so that you can build the fills off of it. you can't just play a 3 minute fill that gets briefly broken up by a simple groove that eight million kids play in their basements.

  • @TheIamcody

most people don't play because they love it; they play because they're trying to get somewhere with it

  • @TheIamcody i feel like you couldn't play the little hi-hat riff @ 1:01 if god came down and gave you super-powers.

  • @TheIamcody i agree

  • @TheIamcody lol no offense but you just sounded like a complete idiot

  • mad props bro. thats skilled drumming

  • amazing fucking double bass.

    all around amazing.

  • Like times abou..... 101.5 times :)

  • Nice dude...Nice!

  • sounds like every other drum solo. nothing exciting sorry dude.

  • I love the rolls bro..there crisp.

  • i need more cowbell

  • AT THE START OF THE VID YOU DIDN'T DO GREAT THINGS...BUT AFTER A MINUTES YOU START TO RULE!!!!...WHAT'S THE HIHAT CYMBAL IN THIS VID?....ZILDJIAN A CUSTOM?...COULD YOU TELL ME SIZE , BRAND , TYPE , ETC....THX MAN!!!:...KEEP DRUMMING.!!!!...XD

  • metal drummers don't win competitions.

  • Awesome!

  • OH SHIT!!!! Brian! This is Evan from the Thomas Lang camp

  • man u are nasty man!!! r u doing the drumoff this year??

  • i just creamed my pants... 80

  • 0:48 chelsea smile LOL

  • this is just some guy hitting the drums with no plan or style. Big deal.

  • love them breakdowns... this year definately! :D

  • hey man ur relly good i wacth this stuff and im thinking about sponcering u

  • Well done brother, I enjoyed this.

  • sounds kinda metal in the beginning, but i like it :)

  • i love the guys face in the background hes like oh shiit

  • dude ur the bomb i play the drums but not as good as u

  • VERY nice. I like the groove you had going there man, different but wonderful man, I thoroughly enjoyed that

  • well, ya definatley got fatter then the year before.

  • That was some kick-ass playin' man!

  • solid man good work

  • nice and tight/ great job

  • HBOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING!

  • gggggggggggggooooooooooooooodddddddddddddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnn son

  • ok that was cool!! O.O

  • liked 2008 better, but 2009 is still about 20x better than I'll ever be :)

  • raddd.

  • i think this guy is way better than the grand finals winner

  • dang that guy is crazy!!!

  • fuck dude, those are some well kept cymbals. were they yours or did guitar center provide them?

  • dude, awesome job man!

  • You are a fine drummer with genuine talent, blazing speed, interesting composition and commnd and control of the kit. Really nice solo. Pay no attention to these no-talent morons who diss you on YouTube. You're better on skins than the whole lot of them. I enjoy your solos. Please post more for our listening and dancing enjoyment. :)

  • it just doesn't seem very fluid. and yea, it's blasty.

  • wow man, amazing job here!! saying "you're good!" just wouldn't do you justice here...

  • Dude, really killin. nice technique, emotion, grooves and your chops are out of this world. how old are you and how long have you been drumming?

  • no.

  • What i love is how he incorporates a sort of jazz feel to the drums, really feels fluid and sounds great.

  • bestial
