I was at the Joey Ramone b-day bash this year, and I got to see Richie play live and I got to speak with him at the after party!!

The dude is tall as FUUUUUUCK, and he's definitely looking a lot older, but that being said, he's still a great drummer and that's what counts.

I went up to him and said, "Hey Richie, you were the Ramones best drummer, those fills that you did for Endless Vacation were amazing and you're just great!"

Yeah 1234deedeeramone is right. Richie was actually great friends with Dee Dee (helped him on solo stuff) and Joey who said Richie saved the Ramones. Check out Mickey Leigh's book I slept with Joey ramone. Mickey is Joey's brother.

This is great ! Ritchie was the drummer when I saw Ramones in high school at the Palladium every year from '83 to '87 . I'm pretty sure Marky Ramone was already outta the band when i saw them in '83. Ritchie was a kick ass drummer ! And a cool singer as well

I feel like RIchie was the Ramones best drummer. He had a way of really using his drumming to take a song to the next level. Like the little drumming fills that he did in "Endless Vacation." I don't know why the Ramones hate Ritchie so much, but they made one of their best albums ("Too Tough to Die") with Ritche and he and Dee Dee really knocked out some kick ass songs. If anyone knows more about why they hate Ritchie, please let me know!

I agree with you Richie is a definitely overlooked in Ramones history. I believe they were upset with because he asked for a raise and they didn't consider him a full member of the band even though he was writing some awesome songs that they continued to do long after he was out of the band.

Lol they didnt hate him he left the band because they never made ramones t-shirts with his name in them so he made no t shirt money him and joey were good friends cj never got any tshirt either but he never left ritchie was just sick of not getting as much money as he desvered

@ADTNMusic Actually there were t-shirts with his name on them. He just wasn't getting any money from them. He asked Johnny about it and supposedly he told him. "Well then we'll just take your name off the shirts then ! " I love the Ramones but that's shitty to treat a guy who drove them through a good part of the 80's, wrote songs, and , sang lead and back ups. Joey and Dee Dee got along with him fine. And yes C.J's name were on Ramones shirts during his tenure. I had two of them.

@pbot2029 well accually its mostly johnny that doesnt like richie dee dee said in interveiw once that he and richie got along fine and used to go out to bars together wich inspired richie to write somebody put something in my drink and richie said he had no problems with joey so the whole richie thing is mostly because of johnny i belive johnny even told him at one point that he wasnt even a real ramone just a fill in guy and didnt give richie any t shirt money from the ramones t shirt sales.

Probably not, Johnny preferred Dee Dee and C.J. on vocals on a lot of songs. The group must have decided it just wasn't good enough. I do think its odd they didn't have it on the Too Tough To Die re-release by Rhino. I guess everyone in the group hates Richie so much they didn't want anything with him singing on the reissue.
