Muslims learnt the art of singing and music and did unite in the divine mission of bringing music to the masses1 ravishankar's guru Alludddin khan sahib who was known as 'maihar ke baba'tutored and prduced geniuses like ali akbar khan ,annapurna devi( his daughter)and many other luminaries he celebrated Janmashtami and worshiped krishna all his life and also was a devout Muslim! Of course he would have been beheaded in the past by the Granddaddy of all taliban Mr Aurangzeb!

@Psyche1954 Dunno y religion came here as comment but do u know Baba Alauddin Khan's ancestors were actually Hindu, they took Islam to hide the identity as they were dacoits in Tripura. Parveen ji's Guru and husband Ustaad Dilshad Khan was also a Hindu. So religion doesn't matter here. Her early guru was chinmay lahiri who's Hindu again. Musicians say they don't have any religions. Music is their religion.
