There are a lot of songs that I wish Amy Winehouse would have sung and her voice fitted the American Songbook so well. Her voice changed just like Billie Holiday's due to the drugs and drinking and I think the voice that Amy had when she sung "Body and Soul" with Tony Bennett would have fitted very well to sing "I"m A Fool To Want You"

She basically lived the lyrics of this song, in the same way Billie Holiday lived. Winehouse was practically a modern day Billie Holiday. Such a shame it had to end the way it did.

This song was recorded with her last breath. She got the two times failure of marriages, alcoholism, and drug, in fact she was on the way to hospital at that time. In the Taxi cap, shy might throw out all her deep sorrow, heart, and tear, and it was recorded in it. In the hospital nobody knew she was Billie because she was so desperated by desease.

This is indeed her BEST WORK! It's just a tour de force, a masterpiece, a work of art! Lady Day defintely saved the best for life and I'm glad that she sung this beautiful song that was first sung by Ol' Blue Eyes himself Frank Sinatra. And Ray Ellis' musical arrangements are stunning and a work of art in itself. The arrangements have that beautiful yet sad, dark and haunting tone and feel to it which matches Billie Holiday's style of singing that she did for her whole career.
