I've been in school the past couple years and learned a lot about this in particular. It's the most controversial subject in treating addiction. It works for some people and not for others, the real question is "do you really want to get sober" , your going to quit when your ready to fully commit to sobriety. If I lived in a bigger city I would rather have the heroin addicts going to a methadone clinic then have them breaking the law.

@5thcenturyad i'm in the USA and they don't do breath tests for alcohol. i guess it depends on the clinic. or the state. i'm in missouri.

Dude is it just me or was that oj light green? ftw... pretty funny shit though. my clinic don't even check for alchohol i hear it can be fatal. nod out and stay out...permanantly.

It sounds like your methadone clinics in the USA are stricter than here in England. My clinic couldn't care less if a patient drunk alcahol on methadone unless they turned up staggering... P.S. Don't drink budwiser, apparently they hate White People, so boycott them.

@5thcenturyad i go to one in the USA and they don't do the breath tests. they do mouth swabs, but they don't check for alcohol. benzos at any clinic is a big no no, unless you have a letter from the prescribing doctor. however even with the letter you still have to go 6 days a week. they said they'll at least give me my saturday but 5 days is still a lot. however for now i drive 18 miles there and 18 miles back 6 days a week. i know i'm not the only one though.

EVERY sip you take of methadone is making it harder for you to rid yourself of addiction. Your counslers will try and keep you on it your whole life and watch you die slow. I've watched it time and time again. Methadone is GOOD FOR NOTHING! Drill this into your head and kick it COLD TURKEY.

@KingBonacci never kick it cold turkey you cant I was at 130 an now im at 20 mgs an I go every other day gettin my body use to not having to ttake something every morning, thats the wrong way

@KingBonacci any educated doctor or addiction specialist will tell you NOT to quit cold turkey, it's one of the worst ways to stop and you have worst chance of actually staying clean.

I grew up in a home where both parents were on methadone since the 70's and I watched them abuse it and trade it around for dope or money for dope and then I watched meth slowly turn them into zombies as the years went on. It serves a negative role in the "junkie world" or to people trying to quit dope. It DOES NOT help anyone and sickens your body and mind AND gives you something else to be addicted to and is MUCH harder to kick then dope is.

@KingBonacci um......yeah doctors are right most of the time, they did go to school for years and are educated...so..anyway sorry you had junkies for parents that abused methadone, I know people that are on methadone and they aren't junkies anymore and are actually productive members of society. Everyone's different, some stronger and more determined then others, I successfully took myself off it soooo it is possible...,just sayin

@jhoward56633 Well congadufuckinglations for getting off meth, now it's time to worry about the long term affects you'll be living with for the rest of your life now. Newer studies are revealing alot of adverse affects into bones and cartilage. Basically what is happening is the meth is not only playing games with your dopamine sensors in your brain, it's also being negativily stored in your bone marrow and cartilage amongst other things. Good luck, I trust google and wikipedia more than docs

Watch a documentary called Methadonia, it will change your view on methadone maintenance. For me, it just told me things I already know. Stuff I knew all along because I have common sense. NEWS FLASH, if you have been on meth for more than a year IT IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU. GET OFF IT BEFORE YOU CANT.

@KingBonacci first off i don't even take methadone, I've seen methadonia also and that documentary was about bums that were abusing their methadone, its very unfortunate that people like that are allowed to stay on that program. I am from, a small town where people that are on the program are doing alot better. Crime has went down drastically, people are actually holding down jobs, ect...you know there is pros and cons to it and if the pros out weight the cons then I think it is doing good.

They took away my monthly priveledges that I earned over years of clean UA's because my bitch counselor is a demon.

Now I go every day and have to run into certain people. It has caused a lot of fuckin problems. Thanks for the video!

I still don't fully understand why they took them away, something about paperwork.

I know what you mean. I was smoking weed everyday and really didn't know they would be so strict on marijuana. I was pissing dirty and they never said anything. Then, they started pissing me twice a week and making me pay $10 for each test. $20 extra a week. Then, I got clean- and I've still got a month to go to get my weekend take-homes.

It's bullshit dude. But like you said- I'm ready to get my take-homes to get away from the scum. Fuck going there daily!!

When you first signed up for the program, you signed a document stating that you would not drink alcohol, doesn't matter if you're 41 yrs. old....If u signed that document, THAT's why they took ur priveledges...

That's bullshit man, now I don't know if I want to get on methadone now, I'm already on suboxone but I can't get it for free anymore so I called the methadone clinic but I don't know now. It seems like they can do anything they want.
