Hi Sean Ray, what kind of bridge are you using on the RB-250? Sounds like you have the head tuned to a G# or a little lower. I'm asking because I like the way you have it set up and would like the to try that combination on RB-3. Thanks and I enjoy your videos, I have even ordered a couple from you site. Keep posting.
@flylgw1 The bridge was a Huber standard 5/8" and the head was pretty tight, somewhere between A - Bb. That banjo was a 1976, multi-ply rim with tube and plate flange. When tuned any lower than A it sounded a bit flabby. Overall it was a good banjo especially considering it came out the Gibson dark ages.
It's often misleading when listening to banjos through a mic. In person this RB-250 was a bit heavy in the midrange where my Frank Neat banjo is more hi-fi. Big bass and frosty highs.
very nice. Maybe for your next videos you can try zooming out a little and have a small video in the corner of what your right hand is doing. It would make it much easier to learn what you are doing.
