The Parfait looked delicius and very pretty but I think the audience felt the same way at the end... They wanted to taste the rare chocolate and the rare fruit... Because cookin is all about taste in the end...And Yoriozuka told the audience in the form of his recipe how good the taste was going to be so I think thats why he won...
It's really unfair to judge without first tasting both the desserts. The visual presentation, taste, aroma and texture contributes to the whole dining experience. I really would love to try both the desserts!
It is clear that Izumi put far more work and effort on his own dessert. A dessert isnt just about taste but also about appearance. Yoroizuka's desert looks like the lemon mousse that my mom would make when i was little, slammed onto a plain plate. The presentation of his desert was pretty much horrible. But look at Izumi's - putting so much work on appearance and taste at the same time. Its a shame he lost. Plus, the inexperience of the audience when it comes to western tastes is evident.

Why seal off the recipe...? Let it be a friendly match. Bushido I think.

I'm extremely sad that Izumi's won't ever be made again...It's very beautiful indeed. But congratulations to Yoriozuka!
